In rural areas, there is something that spreads very quickly and becomes more and more absurd as it goes. Don't underestimate the imagination and dissemination power of those aunties!
Some people say that they saw a bricklayer on the road, dragging thick coffin boards and crying all the way; some people say that they saw the two old men of the Kong family, covered in filth and stinking to high heaven, washing themselves by the river, but the more they washed, the dirtier they became, causing such a commotion that now no one dares to use the water in the river. Others say that the bricklayer squats at the entrance of the Kong family's large mansion every day, with his neck hanging from their door beam.
In short, people's hearts began to panic, and the village fell into a long-lost unease once again.
The ulcers on Xiaokong's body had become so severe that he couldn't wear clothes, and every day when passing by the big house, one could hear his miserable cries inside; The widow hadn't been seen going out for a while either. Her son asked someone to invite several doctors back home, but there was no news about it afterwards. It's said that Xiaokong had started coughing up blood, and some people said he got tuberculosis, which is contagious, so nobody dared to visit him anymore.
One day, two ambulances suddenly came to the village, and Urala's small hole and widow's family were all taken away by the vehicles. These two households are troublesome masters, and the village also sent people to follow them, but the situation doesn't seem very good. After a day, they were sent back again with a loud noise.
The hospital's conclusion was simple: Xiao Kong had ordinary eczema, and after being prescribed two ointments, he returned home; the widow didn't even have a cold, all her test results were fine, but in the hospital she kept telling doctors that she was haunted by ghosts, so they treated her as mentally ill and sent her back.
Is that really the case? The good people of Hong Village still believe in science, but rumors continue to spread. Kong Lao Da looked at his son scratching every day and thought of what the "expert" said before he left, wondering if it was coming true, and this is where the bad luck starts, so he spent some more money to invite that person back again.
What a great man is this? When Confucius first set out, he too had nothing and was wandering the world. When he had nowhere to turn, he met a fortune teller who read faces and palms. Confucius liked to chat, so he sat down with the man and struck up a conversation. The man told Confucius that his wealth lay in the southeast, and that two noble men would help him; if he went in that direction and found these nobles, he would surely become a rich and powerful man.
At this time of decline, who doesn't want to listen to good words? Unfortunately, Kong Lao Da didn't have half a cent in his pocket. The fortune teller also said that it's not too late for him to come and thank him when he becomes rich in the future. In fact, these are all small tricks, but Kong Lao Da didn't understand back then. This fortune teller would say this whenever he met someone who was down on their luck. It's actually a kind of investment strategy.
Every day, you meet twenty people who come to have their fortunes told. Among them, if only two become successful in the future, there is a one-in-ten chance that at least one of these two will still remember him. As for this fortune-telling Daoist, he is the ancestor of angel investors - with an investment of one dollar, zero risk, high returns and high yields...
However, Boss Kong indeed did as he said, and it's unknown whether Mr. was accurate or if Boss Kong just had a rich and noble fate. In the southeast direction, he really encountered a noble person, and when there was a labor shortage, he was taken away. Boss Kong's craftsmanship was good, his mind was quick, and after a period of mixing around, he formed a solid group of brothers. Coincidentally, the original foreman who recruited him had left due to family matters, so he relied on his own mouth to establish a relationship with the higher-ups and took over the position. Not long after, he had a team following him, and at that time, it coincided with the good era of reform and opening-up, when various projects were being launched everywhere. Boss Kong was clever, and his cleverness lay in being one of the first batch of people to invent the business of subcontracting.
Every day, carrying a briefcase and running around the construction site, as soon as he opens his mouth, it's about how many people are under him, "clicking" to sign contracts, and after getting the contract, he goes around looking for people to take on tasks, but in fact, he is just an intermediary. In this way, Boss Kong made money, and he didn't go back on his word, he really went to find that Mr., gave him a big red envelope, and treated him to good wine and food. However, that Mr. was also strange, refusing to enjoy the good fortune with Boss Kong, still wandering around setting up stalls and telling fortunes, so Boss Kong became even more trusting of him.
This time, the idea of moving the tomb back home was also given by this gentleman. He had calculated it for Old Kong and said that if he wanted to climb higher, Old Kong would have to go back and move some earth. But at first, wasn't it his brothers and sisters who disagreed? He reported the situation back to the gentleman, who said don't worry, I'll think of a way.
The next day, he gave Kong Lao Da a few pieces of red and green paper, telling him to quietly put these things under the bed boards of those people's homes. As long as he did so, everything would be fine. Sure enough, after just a few days, several people all agreed, saying that their parents had appeared in their dreams to scold them. Kong Lao Da was overjoyed, his mouth splitting open with delight, thinking that he had found the real deal.
Grandpa Kong hadn't given up looking for that god, he had gone several times but never saw him. Some people said the city management had chased him away. This time Grandpa Kong went with a try-and-see attitude. This time his luck wasn't bad, from far away he saw that gentleman talking to a down-on-his-luck young man in the square, and as he approached he said: "Brother, you have to help your little brother out, this is getting out of hand."
This scared the young man who was chatting, looking at this person dressed in a white shirt and black leather shoes, with a bag in between, he looked like an official or a boss. People of this level have come to kneel down, earlier the gentleman told himself that going to the southeast for development would meet two noble people, it's estimated that there's no mistake, with hope, the young man from then on embarked on a path of multi-level marketing that he could not return from...
Who is this fortune teller? Later we found out that he was a black-headed Taoist from the Lushan Sect, a branch of the Lushan School. The disciples of this sect are mostly scattered Taoists who worship Lushan Jiulang, Linshui Furen and Zhang Muniang, etc. Folklore gods, which were prevalent in Fujian Province at the earliest time.
Many years later, I had the opportunity to visit Longtanjiao of Fuzhou's Lushan Sect, which is now a small corner on the southern island. When Jiangbin Cangqian Road passes through here, it leans in and cuts off a small piece of land by the river, where someone has built a wall with the words "Longtanjiao" written above the gate, and below it, a row of small characters that read "Prayer for Rain Pavilion, First Pool for Releasing Living Creatures". Upon entering the gate, the space is very cramped, only enough to hold one large palm tree and a small suspended temple. The river water is dark green, flowing silently in front of my eyes.
The temple wall has three shrines, with "Hushan Xu Zhenjun" in the middle, a white-bearded god with his right hand holding a duster; on either side are statues of "Linshui Chen Taihou" and "Nanhai Guanyin". The place is quiet and deserted, the three gods face the Min River, sitting dry day after day, but cannot see the opposite bank.
There are many versions of the origin of this sect, the most widely accepted being that of Linshui Madame Chen Jingnu, who is said to be a fifth-generation witch. At the age of ten or so, she went to Mount Lu to study Taoism under Xu Zhenjun. However, Mount Lu as recorded today is located in Liaoning Province. In the Tang Dynasty era, I don't know how likely it was for a teenage girl from Fujian to travel all the way to Liaoning to learn about Taoism, so I think this Mount Lu may not be the same as the one we know of today.
After Linshui Furen returned from studying Taoism, she first practiced on the Min River, killing the local snake demon and Longkeng ghost to save the local drought. Later, she was secretly attacked by a monster and used her life to protect the peace of the region at the cost of her own life. From then on, she attained the Tao. In the Fujian area, this Lushan sect still has high prestige and is an important branch of the Huinan school of Chinese Taoism.
This sect's magic emphasizes toughness, somewhat similar to the Mao Shan Sect. With the idea that it's either you die or I die, whether it's against ghosts or opponents, it's a method with extremely lethal power. The Taoist way is overbearing, as evidenced by this poem:
The Supreme Ruler in Heaven is the Jade Emperor
The most precious thing in the world is the king.
All ghosts and gods in the world look up to him with respect.
Only Mount Tai can be the master!
The Huashan School of Taoism is further divided into: Red Head Masters and Black Head Masters. The Red Head Masters mainly deal with exorcisms, capturing evil spirits, eliminating disasters, resolving troubles, and other auspicious rituals; while the Black Head Masters primarily focus on rituals for the deceased, such as helping the spirits of the dead cross over to the afterlife. The Taoist who helped Confucius calculate his fate was named Bai Qianli, originally from Zhangzhou in Fujian Province.
This hundred thousand miles originally had some fame in the local area, precisely because he was famous that during the Cultural Revolution he was caught and paraded through the streets, almost beaten to death. One day, taking advantage of lax guards, he escaped at night and fled north, finally settling here. He felt that his hometown people were too cruel to him, at the time no one was willing to come forward to help, probably hurt his heart, so he didn't want to go back either.
He was originally a black-headed fortune teller, but now he's doing the same job as a red-headed fortune teller, barely making a living in this city. He rarely tells the truth, repeating the same few sentences every day to deceive people, because black-headed fortune tellers always knew that heaven's secrets shouldn't be revealed too much or they would bring trouble upon themselves, until he met Old Man Kong.
Kong Lao Da is not a good person, nor is he a bad one. After becoming rich, he knows how to be grateful and doesn't forget his roots. However, he still has the limitations of petty farmer thinking, likes to show off, and likes to act like a hero. Bai Qian Li was initially unwilling to help him, but every day Kong Lao Da would repeat the phrase "If you become rich in the future, come back and repay me". But after all these years, only Kong Lao Da has returned to find him after becoming successful!
It was precisely because of such a person that Bai Qianli decided to help him. If the first time was his deception of Kong Lao Da, then this time he was truly sincere. Seeing the tomb being covered with sewage water, Hei Tou Fa Shi, who understood how to supercharge the spirits of the dead, would not have known that this was a sign of bad luck. On that day, Bai Qianli also saw Kong Lao Da being somewhat cold towards the widow and did not want to speak further, using his words, "there must be a cause for every effect".
Today, Old Man Kong came again, and Ba Qianli also secretly sighed, quietly packing up to follow Old Man Kong...
