Chapter 192: Golden Tripod (2)

  ??

In the "Li Yun" chapter of the Book of Rites, it is recorded: "In ancient times, before the former kings had palaces, in winter they lived in earthen caves and in summer they lived in nests. Before the invention of fire, people ate the fruits of plants and trees, the flesh of birds and beasts, drank their blood, and wore their feathers and skins." This is a record by scholars of the Western Han dynasty about the lives of ancient people. However, even if we include the earliest unearthed documents, some records of contemporary history can only be traced back to the late Shang Dynasty oracle bones. The authenticity or not of the "Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors" period has always been a topic of debate among historians, and in the 1920s and 1930s, the "Doubting Antiquity" movement emerged in the academic community, with scholars such as Gu Jiegang using critical thinking and scientific methods to examine ancient historical materials. At one point, many scholars denied that China had a 5,000-year history of civilization.

This is just the extent to which historical debates have reached, let alone religion. As China's only indigenous religion, the birth of Taoism has always been a mystery. According to legend and sporadic historical records, as early as the Yellow Emperor period, there were sacrifices to the Heavenly Emperor, including "封禅告天" (Announcing Heaven), "郊祀上帝" (Suburban Sacrifices to the Supreme Emperor), and "接万灵于明廷" (Receiving the Spirits of the Ten Thousand in the Bright Court). This long-standing ghost worship evolved into a system of heavenly gods, earthly spirits, and human ghosts during the Zhou Dynasty, as well as a tradition of revering heaven and honoring ancestors. This tradition has continued to this day and is still repeated wherever there are Chinese people around the world.

If we say that the emergence of religion in its early stages was derived from human worship of natural forces, and the description of some powers beyond their cognition as gods and ghosts, then Taoism not only inherited this idea of ghost worship, but also incorporated this spiritual system into the immortal system. Later, around the Warring States period, various vassal states pursued the dream of immortality to its peak, especially Qin Shi Huang as a representative. At the same time, the descriptions of divine spirits and immortal realms in "Zhuangzi" and "Chu Ci" from the Jingchu region gave great inspiration and thought to the Taoist priests; The legend of the three islands of Penglai, Yingzhou, and Fangzhang in the Yanqi region drove emperors and Taoist priests to visit. The beliefs and techniques of the immortals were inherited by Taoism, and the immortal priests gradually evolved into Taoist priests.

In addition, during this period, Laozi's Daoist culture emerged, and some Daoist seekers of immortality regarded the "Dao" as the origin of heaven, earth, universe, yin-yang, five elements, and all living things. Based on this, they established a theological system of Daoist doctrine, thus making Daoism an Eastern religion with its own history and theory.

"A true Taoist is not someone who peddles feudal superstition." This was Zhang Wenbin's retort when faced with some social opinions. He also never accepted money, gifts or goods from others for his actions, religion to him was a belief, and being a Taoist was not an occupation.

This tripod is beyond my imagination whether it's built or artistic, I'm curious how it was transported in?

Zha Wenbin replied, "On-site excavation, you see the scattered stones on the ground, it has formed this layer, and then superimposed layer by layer, eventually forming a mountain. I remember that its engineering volume will not be smaller than the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum."

"Who has such ability?" Although my history is not particularly good, I have never heard of a civilization as strong as this in the Tianmu Mountain area. According to the structure of this picture, some of the information depicted, the materials used and the relief techniques, at least before the Warring States period.

"I want to go up and take a look." He raised his head and looked at the tripod, the inside of which was usually hollow. In the past, some sacrificial objects were placed in this kind of noble ritual vessel, and inscriptions were also engraved on it. The inscription would record who this ritual vessel was for and under what circumstances it was cast.

I'm aware of Zhang Wenbin's tree-climbing skills, which are purely amateur-level. This task is naturally still up to me. "It's too high, besides, you can climb, right? Otherwise, I'll go up instead, it just so happens that I stand tall and see far, and by the way, find where Er Dai has slipped away again."

"Take it easy then." He didn't refuse my suggestion, and it was clear that the shock this thing gave him was too great. As a non-religious person, I couldn't understand the excitement in his heart, especially since the picture appeared with the creation jade disc, which is a legendary existence like the heavenly book.

Took off shoes, tried it out, still okay, the texture is quite deep, hands and feet can exert force. Took a deep breath and chose one corner. This pillar is not bad to climb, soon reached the top, this thing on top is hard to get, after the pillar reaches the head, it goes up again to the first part of the tripod, this thing has four sides like a wall, unless you are a gecko, you can only use your hands and feet.

I hung the pulley on the rope and threw it upwards several times, I wanted to pass through the ear of that tripod, which had a hollow inside, maybe I could tie a knot. It was either my good luck or fate that made me succeed in this high-difficulty action, after trying to pull it several times, the rope was very sturdy. I waved at Cha Wenbin below and swung open like a swing, this wasn't just for fun, if I didn't grab it or the rope fell off, I would definitely be seriously injured even if I didn't die.

At the moment when I grasped the edge of my ear, I knew I had successfully reached the top. Excitedly, I waved at Zha Wenbin and then hurriedly bent down, but what awaited me was not gold, silver or jewels, but a scene that made me unable to accept.

In this cauldron there is a pool of water, and the first thing I see when I bend down to look in is the dazzling glare of the safety lamps, like a moon shining in the depths. It's not surprising that there should be water here, for the river-bed is always oozing moisture through its roof. But what seems strange is that my reflection isn't the only one in the water; I seem to see something else there too.

I don't know if it was my own eyes playing tricks on me, but as I gradually got used to the reflection of the miner's lamp, two human silhouettes faintly appeared below my own portrait. These silhouettes also started to become clearer and clearer as I gazed at them for a longer time.

A chubby guy and a tall, thin person were walking on the road, one in front of the other. They seemed to be looking for something. The two exchanged words more than once, but I couldn't hear their voices. These two people I knew very well - one was Ye Qiu, and the other was that fatso who could even be recognized as ashes!

I raised my head, and indeed the top of my head was a smooth stone. I shifted my body to the side, and below me was still Cha Wenbin. I looked back again, and that scene slowly reappeared once more - it was still those two guys, as if they were right at the other end of this cauldron!

"Wen Bin! Wen Bin!" I turned around and shouted downwards: "Damn it, Fatso and Second Brother are inside!" My words were a bit incoherent: "I don't know how to say it, anyway they're both inside walking back and forth, it's really them I didn't see wrong!"

"What?" Zhang Wenbin was also shocked by this answer. He hurriedly pulled the rope and said, "Wait for me to come up!"

"Alright, alright!" I didn't care about him anymore, and lowered my head to continue watching the scene in the cauldron. I don't know if they could hear my voice when I spoke, but every time I did, Er Bai would stop moving and look around, as if he could still hear me?

It seems that there are many things in this world that are so magical, and the Buddha in this tripod is a camera. It seems that I can see the screen transmitted from the other side of the camera. The screen has familiar people but unfamiliar scenes. This door is coming in one after another. I and Zha Wenbin are in one scene, and it seems that "Fat Man" is now with Ye Qiu in one scene.

However, when Zhang Wenbin climbed up, the water surface had already returned to calm. I told him everything I saw with gestures and explanations, and he fell into a silence for a while before saying: "It's similar to what I felt before, this place seems to have some kind of power that can split space, and the world that opens when you enter through the door may be completely different."

"This is simple." I proposed: "Or else, after we go down later, let's go out first and then come in again to see if it's the same world."

My proposal was accepted by him once again, this is the simplest and stupidest method. From the perspective of dialectical materialism, it is impossible for a man to enter the same river twice. I only need to make a mark on the ground in front of the door, so I casually found two stones and piled them up together.

"Come on, old brother, in a few seconds we will know the answer." At this time, I was careless. I thought Cha Wenbin would come out immediately, so I didn't connect the two people with a rope like when we came in. We just went out one after another, but when I walked out of that door and waited for him to come out, I couldn't see him anymore...
