What is One? Taoism believes that "the Way gives birth to one, named Wu, named Taiji, named Xuanpin; one gives birth to two, named time and space, named the gate of Xuanpin, named the root of heaven and earth, named the gate of all mysteries; two give birth to three, named You, named Taiji".
In the "Laozi", the state of "one" is described as "valley spirit not dying" and "hazy and obscure". The two realms are divided into "being" and "non-being". "Valley spirit not dying, this is called mysterious female" refers to the continuous indestructibility of the spirit in the void and quietness, which is the mysterious female and mysterious hole, and ultimately the infinite birth of the Tao.
These words spoken by the Taoist masters are always half-concealed and half-revealed. The truths uttered by religious masters often have this characteristic: they can be advanced or retreated, and one sentence may lead to a hundred different interpretations. However, everything has its source, whether it is Pangu creating heaven and earth or Nüwa creating humans, there is always a process from zero to one. This "one" is the beginning, and through this point, things spread out in all directions.
This is just like a person's fate, which is also uncertain. The moment a newborn baby falls to the ground, his fate will have different twists and turns. For example, he was born into a rich or poor family; for example, he was born in a city or countryside; again, whether his parents are healthy or not, from the moment of birth, there will be various answers waiting. As it develops, perhaps every day your actions and thoughts will be full of variables that affect the development of fate. The so-called "盖棺定论" (judging only after death) means that until a person's last breath, you can never accurately evaluate his life, and there may be variables until the very end.
Because human fate is full of variables, Fuxi derived the eight trigrams, and thus divination and fortune-telling emerged. People are always curious about what will happen in the future; we call what has already happened "memory", which cannot be changed - it exists, is fixed, and irreversible.
Using numerology, astronomy, geography and mathematics, Taoist priests invented physiognomy, which evolved from ancient witchcraft, but was more systematic and professional, with theoretical support. Thus, the Taoists discovered that they could glimpse the future trend in fate, and thus had the Way, but here there is a paradox: destiny is predetermined and can be glimpsed.
This paradox is formed in this way: if a person walks ten meters and encounters two forks every time, he can only choose one to move forward until the last moment of his life. What kind of path will he walk out? This is his destiny for life. So we would say, oh, that's how he spent his whole life.
But what if this person had taken a road in the opposite direction at the second intersection? Then the path he took and the one we are on now would be completely different, yet when he reaches his destination, we will still say: Oh, so that's how he spent his life.
Because everyone's time is synchronized, there is no chance to come again. But what if time can overlap? It seems that ancient people also thought about this problem. Who can break the axis of time that can only move forward and not backward? Whoever can do it can reshape anyone's destiny, focusing on reshaping rather than peeking. This is the mystery that those people have been trying to solve all their lives...
Without the help of science, any existence with a glimmer of hope is something that needs to be fought for. It is precisely because of this that in many places in China, some charlatans and swindlers take advantage of people's ignorance and fear of gods and ghosts to engage in various forms of deception.
Superstition and religion are two completely different concepts. Zhang Wenbin is the kind of religious person who is easily misunderstood as a superstitious person, because he is too close to life, making it difficult to associate him with a Taoist priest. There is an old Chinese saying: "A small hermit hides in the forest, a great hermit hides in the city." Is running to a place like Mount Zhongnan really about seeking the Way or just escaping?
The Yuan family was quiet at this moment, the new coffin had arrived, in a Western style, similar to a box, with some brass decorations on it. Xiaobai was someone who had drunk foreign ink water, so naturally he would also prepare for his later affairs differently, this was arranged by Cha Wenbin.
The courtyard was filled with white decorations, and the entrance was already crowded with people, blocking the entire street. The Yuan family was a prominent household, so they were naturally different from ordinary citizens. The news that Miss Yuan was getting married was like a shot of adrenaline for Shanghai's journalists. Mr. Yuan simply closed the large gate, not wanting to hear the commotion outside, which would only bring sorrow if he listened.
"Does it have to be like this?" As the two anesthetics were slowly pushed into the syringe, Mr. Yuan's cheek twitched uncontrollably, and with his knowledge, he understood that this dose was enough to make his beloved daughter close her eyes forever.
Cha Wenbin didn't dare to guarantee, he just said: "It's the only thing I can try, I don't have any other way. However, you should also be mentally prepared. If it really works out the same way, she might end up like my friend here - after waking up from a dream, there's a possibility that she'll forget about her past. The only difference is, I'm letting her end her current suffering a bit earlier."
The old butler supported the master to rest, and Old Xia looked at the swirling staircase suddenly felt a little dizzy. The stairs lead in two directions, perhaps heaven or perhaps hell.
Lao Xia looked at the room full of paper people and funeral supplies and asked: "How confident are you?"
Cha Wenbin replied truthfully: "There's no guarantee, everything depends on fate. If it's really destined, then everyone will have the same ending."
Lao Xia sneered: "Like me? That's even worse than death."
Cha Wenbin did not respond again, at this moment he looked more like a prisoner about to be executed, he knew the risks he was carrying. In his heart, he silently told himself: "Xiaobai, if I fail, then let's go together..."
A burst of crashing and banging sounds came from upstairs, the woman's shrill cries, the man's angry shouts, the sound of objects shattering. Everyone in the house heard it, everyone was imagining it, but ultimately no one dared to go up and take a look. When someone you once loved completely turns into another strange devil, all you can think of is to get away as quickly as possible, even if you used to love her so much.
About a month ago, Yuan Xiaobai stopped eating. A few days later, the aunt at home found that the chicken in the backyard had died inexplicably, with a big hole bitten on its neck. At first, everyone thought it was the work of Huang Pizi, who loved to drink chicken blood. In such an old mansion with tall trees and dense forests, it's possible for some Huang Pizi to appear.
Later, it wasn't just chickens, but also pigeons and ducks, all of which were daily purchases made by the servants to prepare food. All of them had their necks bitten off, with every last drop of blood sucked out. From then on, the Yuan family stopped buying live poultry, opting instead for market-bought meat that was slaughtered on the spot before being brought home.
It wasn't until one night, in the second half of the night, that the old butler heard a dog barking in the yard. The noise was not loud, but it was somewhat terrifying. The butler got up to take a look and had just walked through the corridor downstairs to the living room when he flipped on the light switch. Yuan Xiaobai, with blood all over her face, calmly walked past him, her mouth, her chin, that bloody scene the old butler said he would never forget for the rest of his life.
The living room door was open, and the bloodstains went from the front gate all the way to the living room, following Xiaobai's footsteps, one step at a time. The butler held back his heart that was about to jump out of his throat and took a peek outside. The five-year-old black sheepdog was crawling on the steps, with only exhaling breaths left in its mouth. There was a fist-sized wound on its throat. This dog was usually very protective of the house and would not let ordinary people get close. But tonight, it had not made a sound. It was especially affectionate towards Xiaobai because Xiaobai had brought it back from the streets when it was just a stray puppy. Perhaps until its death, it would never understand why its young master had ended his life in this way...
The fact that the young lady was a blood-sucking creature had not been spread, and the old butler had been staying in the Yuan family for a long time. He had seen the miss grow up and treated Xiaobai as his own daughter. In order to prolong her life, every day the butler would send live poultry to Xiaobai's door, usually at night, and early the next morning the old butler would come to take away the already withered corpse.
But after all, the paper can't wrap fire, and the news of Xiaobai becoming a vampire spread quickly. As a result, many servants in the Yuan family began to flee from this old mansion. Fear is an innate emotion of human beings, not that they are not afraid, but it has not happened around them yet.
About five minutes later, the door upstairs opened and Old Xia saw Cha Wenbin with his head down, his clothes torn apart, and long scratches all over his face, chest, and mouth. He was holding a limp woman in his arms, who was wearing a nightgown stained with large patches of brown that had stiffened the fabric, and the bloodstains were almost covering up the original white gauze.
The people downstairs came out one after another, no one dared to speak. Cha Wenbin's eyes kept welling up with tears, he couldn't even see the next step clearly. "Drip, drip", those tears dripped onto the woman's cheek, only the woman could no longer tell him how happy she felt at this moment...
Several old ladies had been with the Yuan family for a long time, and the young ones had all run away, leaving only these old guys behind. They understood what was going on, the water in the bathroom had already been prepared, and the water was filled with rose petals that the miss liked the most, it was time to give her a good wash, and after washing, she would be clean and walk...
