Scriptwriting
The creation of a script has three elements.
Conflict collision, character language and stage instructions.
The contradictions and conflicts are the key to the script. There must be conflicts to have a low tide, which can drive the audience's emotions.
The character's language is the soul of the script, it represents whether the character setting in the script is distinct or not. Only successful character language can give characters a soul and give audiences a sense of substitution.
The final stage directions are a general explanation of the script. The script is not comparable, it requires a sense of visuality, and the stage directions tell this sense of visuality to the director, so that the director can shoot the best shots according to the script.
These three seemingly simple elements are actually key points that some screenwriters may never fully grasp in their lifetime.
But Yexu Mang, whose thoughts were racing, was able to grasp these three key points with ease.
In his story, it happened on a night in a 24-hour supermarket.
The story's opening designed by Ye Su Mang is very clever, directly referencing the most popular topic of the time - lottery.
It was at this time that the welfare lottery had just entered the computer age and was developing into a national craze. Almost all ordinary people were buying lottery tickets, aiming for the legendary prize of five million yuan. So Ye Sumang also wanted to take advantage of this trend.
With the background and cause, the following story is much easier.
The conflict originated from a wrongly printed lottery ticket. Lottery winner He San Shui was supposed to win 9,500 yuan two months ago but the supermarket owner's wife misprinted a digit, causing him to lose the prize. For two months, He San Shui repeatedly went to find the owner's wife for compensation but was constantly pushed away and ridiculed. In anger, he made an absurd decision with his foolish younger brother Luan Tai, which was to 'rob' the supermarket, sell the goods, and make up for their own money.
That night, supermarket employees Tang Xiaolian and Li Junwei, as well as his friend Zhu Liao, were also innocently drawn into the incident.
During the period of selling goods and making money, many customers with different personalities came to the supermarket. Under He San Shui's stubborn temper and unfamiliar business, the two collided and laughed out loud many times. At the same time, the people locked in the house did not give up the opportunity to escape, but always failed at the last minute.
After experiencing many ups and downs, the biggest turning point in the entire movie finally appeared when He San Shui was about to raise 9,500 yuan.
A real robber, holding a real gun, pointed menacingly at everyone in the supermarket. The turning point of the whole story also occurred after the appearance of the real robber. In the face of danger, people finally put aside their prejudices and worked together to capture the thief with the help of the police.
The ending of the story is a happy ending, where everyone has their own happiness. Ye Su Mang wrote the entire story in this supermarket because supermarkets are places where everyone goes and everything happens.
Ye Su Mang stayed busy in front of the computer until dawn, and finally finished writing the entire script.
Today's weather is exceptionally clear, it can be said that there are no clouds for thousands of miles. The accumulated snow is gradually melting, bringing out a chill to the bone. As people say, 'spring cold is sharp and kills young people', let alone Ye Lao's old bones. He has just walked back home from the film studio, and he feels like his legs are going to cramp up with cold.
"Hey, Sumang, how can you sleep like this?" As soon as he entered the door, the old man had just caught his breath and saw his grandson lying on the computer desk, sleeping with drool flowing down, and there were several keyboard impressions on his small face, obviously having slept for a long time.
The old man was very curious, after all, Ye Sumang was notorious for being particular about his sleep habits, and it was rare to see him sleeping at his computer desk, maybe only once a year.
With curiosity, the old man took a closer look and found that the computer was still on, with the document interface open, and dozens of A4 papers were printed out next to the printer, filled with text.
The old man picked up those dozens of papers and took a look, only to find that it was actually a script. He suddenly looked at Ye Sumang with curiosity.
When did this grandson of mine become a screenwriter again? And isn't he busy with exams recently, how does he still have time to write scripts?
With all sorts of doubts, the old man began to browse through the content of the script in his hand. He flipped through it very quickly, almost at a glance, and finished reading dozens of pages in just over ten minutes.
However, he didn't put it down, but instead started reading from the beginning again. This time he read very seriously, almost every word and sentence without missing a single one. As time passed, accompanied by the old man's happy laughter from time to time, three hours had unknowingly passed, and Ye Sumang also woke up from in front of the computer desk.
Because she fell asleep on the table, Ye Sumang felt that her neck was sore when she just woke up. After turning her head, she found that her grandfather was reading the script he had driven out last night with a happy face.
"Grandfather, how's the script coming along?" Ye Sumang immediately pulled over a chair and sat down in front of her grandfather, asking at the same time. However, although it was a question, Ye Sumang had a confident look on her face.
"Not bad, the plot is well-written and detailed, the conflict hypothesis is also very reasonable. Especially the character setting is excellent, each person has their own characteristics, quite distinct. The dialogue is also very humorous." Seeing his grandson wake up, Ye old man closed the script, smiling in praise.
"Of course, this is the result of your grandson's hard work for one night." Ye Sumang did not show modesty, but naturally smiled and accepted his grandfather's praise, he also thought that this script was written very interestingly.
"Do you think it can be made into a movie?" Ye Sumang suddenly asked, looking at her grandfather who was flipping through the script again.
"Do you want to turn this script into a movie?"
Seeing Ye Su's expectant eyes, Old Man Ye was surprised and couldn't understand why this child's mind jumped around like that, having just written the script and already thinking about making a movie.
He had intended to reject it outright, after all, he was now being driven crazy by the company's affairs, but he saw an unspeakable expectation in Ye Sumang's eyes. The words that came to his mouth were also forcibly swallowed back.
It was this gaze that made Old Ye fall into deep thought in an instant.
"Grandpa, why does everyone bully me? They say I'm a wild child and that I don't have a dad or mom. Where did my dad and mom go?"
"Grandfather, the aunt outside said I'm a jinx, what's a jinx..."
"Grandpa, I'll be strong, I won't cry again..."
"Faced with sunshine, shadows are behind me. Grandpa, this sentence sounds so good. From now on, I will always smile and face the sunshine, leaving shadows far behind..."
The unhappiness of childhood did not crush his grandson, but instead, because of a simple sentence, a teenager who was only a few years old faced the turmoil with a smile. The persistence contained in this made Ye Lao Er also moved, and this mature mentality also made him feel an extra heartache. The family forged Ye Su Mang's precocious personality, and since childhood, he had lost his parents' protection, and this child's intelligence was growing at several times the speed of his peers.
Leaf Su Mang's expectant gaze made Old Leaf take a deep breath, and after another look at the script in his hand, he made a decisive decision: "I'll take it to the studio today and see if there are any directors willing to accept it."
