Chapter Twenty-Four: The Miao Family
Bid farewell to Ershu, Chu Jiaqiang took the bus to the city. Tang Pangzi introduced his fruit nursery in Gaosheng City, but it was in a town in the south, Heqian Town, and there was no direct car to get there, so he had to go to the city bus station first and then transfer.
After three hours, Chu Jiaqiang finally arrived at a town called Chi Guizhen. This town is obviously more developed than He Qianzhen, with good infrastructure in all aspects such as transportation. The town has rich jade resources and produces jade products, while also extracting stone materials to process into various marble carvings, building materials and so on.
The boss of the fruit seedling nursery is called Miao Huo, a member of an ethnic minority. When Qu Jianqiang arrived quickly, he gave him a call and said that Tang Fu introduced him to buy fruit seedlings.
Miao Huo, although a minority, was dressed no differently from the Han people. He had learned that the visitor was introduced by Tang Fu, and stood waiting at the door early on.
"Hello, Boss Miao!" Chu Jiaqiang extended his hand proactively.
Miao Huo was also very enthusiastic and hurried over, laughing: "Chu younger brother, let Miao older brother wait for a while! Let's go inside to talk."
"Haha! Then it's really little brother's fault." Chu Jiaqiang also smiled, this person is easier to get along with than he thought.
As soon as he entered, a large dog that was guarding the door suddenly stood up, its fur standing on end, and stared at Chu Jiaqiang with vigilance. The dog was a fiery red Tibetan Mastiff, its bloodline should be quite pure, and it could sense that Chu Jiaqiang was a dangerous person.
Chu Jiaqiang was slightly surprised, this Tibetan Mastiff is not bad! From a distance, it looks like a lion. He also understood that the spiritual awareness of these dogs is often much better than humans. Although he had only been practicing for a short time, his physical functions had already exceeded those of ordinary people, which made the Tibetan Mastiff feel threatened.
"Lion! This is a guest, go back!" Miao Huo patted the Tibetan Mastiff's head and then turned to Chu Jiaqiang and said: "Don't be afraid, little brother. Although lions are ferocious, they're quite intelligent. The people I bring in won't attack."
"Lion? It does look like one. This Tibetan Mastiff is quite purebred!" Chu Jiaqiang also stretched out his hand, wanting to touch the Tibetan Mastiff's head.
"Brother, you can't..." Miao Huo was about to stop Chu Jiaqiang's actions, but before he could finish speaking, he was stunned by the scene in front of him.
Only to see Chu Jiaqiang stroking the lion's head with his hand, and the lion surprisingly closed its eyes in enjoyment. Moreover, he found that Chu Jiaqiang's temperament seemed to have changed somehow, but couldn't quite put his finger on what exactly had changed. This was the first time he saw a lion accept a stranger's touch, previously only he and a few people at home could get close to it.
Chu Jiaqiang summoned some spiritual energy from the landscape paintings and transferred it into the body of the Tibetan Mastiff, which greatly benefited the lion.
"It seems that little brother is quite compatible with lions! I've never seen it get close to a stranger before." Miao Huo said, coming back to his senses.
"Haha! This dog is indeed very clever. I also want to buy a big dog, but purebred ones are hard to find now and too expensive, can't afford it for the time being." Chu Jiaqiang made no attempt to hide his poverty.
Miao Huo was taken aback again. Generally, people who are not in a good mood wouldn't casually tell others, only true friends would be so frank with each other. This made Miao Huo feel even more affectionate towards Chu Jiaqiang.
"Come on, let's go in and have a cup of tea first, then take little brother to see the fruit seedlings. By the way, what kind of fruit seedlings is little brother planning to get? Speak up so big brother can prepare himself mentally." Miao Huo led Chu Jiaqiang into the house.
"I also want to plant peach trees, grapes and cherries."
"Cherries and grapes are high-end fruits, I have a lot here, and there are several varieties of grapes, which I will introduce to you later. But peach trees are not easy to handle, I also have them here, but they were just cultivated and are still very small, not suitable for planting." Miao Huo said straightforwardly.
"It doesn't matter, I also roughly understand cultivation. It's rare for you to come over once, so just take it back with you!" Chu Jiaqiang said indifferently.
"That's good!" Miao Huo didn't actually want to cultivate peach trees, this kind of fruit is low-end and few people would buy such a tree. He also didn't doubt that Chu Jiaqiang could plant it, because peach trees are indeed easy to care for, without any technical content to speak of. At first, he was just messing around, worrying about how to deal with these peach tree saplings.
Miao Huo's wife is called Mo Xiu, a Han Chinese. Although she has given birth to two children and her figure has become somewhat plump, she still looks quite pretty and is very virtuous. Whenever she sees guests, she immediately serves tea and water, truly taking care of everything.
"Miao Gege is so lucky! He's married to such a virtuous and beautiful sister-in-law, us bachelors are so envious!" Chu Jiaqiang laughed.
"Haha! That's right, little brother. You don't have to be envious. You have your own good fortune, or else I wouldn't let my sister-in-law introduce one to you." Miao Huo laughed loudly, looking very happy. When he was pursuing his wife, he had used a lot of effort. His wife's family saw that he was from an ethnic minority and strongly opposed it, but later they couldn't persuade their daughter, so they proposed a condition: he must settle down in this place.
"Hehe! Let's talk about this later!" Chu Jiaqiang said somewhat awkwardly, although his feelings for Zhao Yazi had faded, but it was a bit difficult for him to pursue another woman immediately.
Miao Huo's children are a pair of dragon and phoenix twins, the boy is called Miao Ye, and the girl is called Miao Ya. The names are quite distinctive. Both of them have fair and chubby complexions, with round faces that make people feel affectionate. However, these two little guys are not easy to deal with, and Miao Huo's couple is extremely headache-inducing.
"Uncle, didn't you bring a gift for Yezi? Those uncles always brought gifts before." The little boy even stretched out his hand to ask Chujia for a gift. This made Chujia very embarrassed and awkward for a while.
"Mom! My little brother is so shameless! He's always asking for things and wanting gifts." The little girl said with an air of superiority.
"You're my sister and I'm your brother! Dad said you were born later than me." Miao Ye shouted loudly, fighting for her rights.
"Nonsense! Father clearly said you were born later, so you're the younger brother and I'm the older sister. Don't believe me? Go ask Father! Father, isn't that right?" Miao Ya also didn't give in.
The two little kids stared at Miao Huo, who immediately became even more embarrassed than Chu's family. He forced a smile and said, "This question is better asked of your mom! She would know better."
Mo Xu gave her husband a stern look, silently rebuking him for always confusing the children with his nonsense, sometimes saying this one was their brother and that one was their sister, now let's see how you explain this.
"Yèzi don't be naughty, Uncle is coming for the first time, can't bully Uncle Chu." Mozhu also avoided her brother and sister's question, because that question couldn't be explained clearly. In the past, she hadn't been bothered by those two little ancestors because of this issue. Her husband, in order to avoid trouble, simply spoke nonsense, making the situation more and more chaotic.
The two little guys still stared at each other, raised their heads, and neither of them was willing to give in.
