Chapter 61: Tongue

That bronze sun wheel was picked up by Zha Wenbin, put into his bag. As long as he moved this thing, the situation would be thoroughly broken, and there was no need for him to pick it up. The remaining souls would naturally disperse.

"Take a look at the desolate tomb, Chaozi, lets go."

Drop the body and let it sink back to the bottom of the water, which has been destroyed by corpse worms. It wont take long for this body to melt into a pool of blood.

Two men carried the young silkworm corpse back down to the ground along the rope, and Zhuo Xiong had been waiting for so long that he was about to go crazy. Seeing what Chaozi was holding in his hand, he thought to himself: Are you guys crazy? Did you climb up just to catch a bug? However, he saw bloodstains and signs of fighting on both of their bodies, and a string of questions arose:

"Wen Bin, isnt that a corpse silkworm in Chaozis hand? What else did you find on it? And what was that fragrant smell just now? And whats with the fighting sounds? I saw a corpse silkworm trying to get in outside and shot it..."

"Hey, Blind Man, theres your familys ancestor up there. Unfortunately, it was used as a snack by this Corpse Silkworm. Im not here to avenge you, but Ill catch it and hand it over to you for disposal. Here, take it." He then handed the Corpse Silkworm in his hand to Zhuo Xiong.

"Stop messing around, take care of whats in your hands, well need it to get out later," said Cha Wenbin with a stern gaze. "Zhuo Xiong brothers, lets talk about the matter above after we get out, now we must find a way out quickly, or well all starve to death here." As he spoke, he snatched the hunting rifle from Chaozis hands, and the corpse worm below began to squirm restlessly again. If it werent for the need to escape, Cha Wenbin wouldnt have been willing to bring such a disgusting and vicious thing with him.

After taking a look at Leng Yiran and Old Wang, their complexion has obviously improved. According to what was said earlier, with the presence of the Resurrection Incense, they should have woken up by now. However, its unclear why they still seem to be asleep. This place is not suitable for staying for long, so lets pack up our equipment and move on. Cha Wenbin will lead the way carrying the bug, followed by two people carrying the wounded. The original ancient well exit is impassable, and now we can only move forward one step at a time. Following the airflow direction of this underground river, there might be another exit ahead. Lets follow the river flow upwards for now.

This trip, originally thought it was just a simple survey, equipment and food preparations were not very sufficient. At present, their food is only left with two days worth, and the batteries needed for the flashlight are also limited. Now they can only try to save as much as possible, following the guide who only turns on one lamp. However, in this gloomy, damp, and dark underground cave, this little light can only be said to barely see.

Everyone was in no mood to continue joking, just hoping to get out as soon as possible. Except for the sound of footsteps, there was nothing else. In the darkness, countless pairs of eyes were staring at them, but they themselves didnt know it yet.

After walking for about an hour, the cave began to narrow, and the slippery ground was not easy to walk on. A huge boulder appeared in front of them, blocking their path. Looking up, it seemed that there was no other way but to climb up. Using a human ladder, Cha Wenbin climbed up first, and just as he was about to lower down the rope, he inadvertently glanced back and saw a "corpse worm" appear in his line of sight. The closest person to it was Chaozi, who was carrying Leng Yiran, only about five meters away. He immediately shouted loudly: "Chaozi, be careful! Theres a corpse worm behind you!"

Upon hearing the warning, Chaozis first reaction was to pull out his dagger and turn on his flashlight. Good grief! A bunch of "corpse silkworms" had emerged from the pile of rocks, with hundreds of white spots scattered all over the place. It seemed that these insects still didnt plan on letting them go.

Zhuo Xiong raised his rifle to fire, even if they only had this one bullet left now. He didnt show any fear at all, thats what a soldier is, fearless in the face of danger!

"Dont shoot!" Zhang Wenbin shouted, then he raised the yellow "corpse silkworm" in his hand to mid-air, shook it vigorously, and drew out the Seven Star Sword to place beside the "corpse silkworm", making a cutting motion.

A gust of wind, mixed with the sound of "crashing" rocks, a giant golden "corpse silkworm" jumped out, it was the leader of the "corpse silkworm king" from just now!

Its appearance caused other "corpse worms" to retreat backwards one after another, keeping a certain distance from it and not daring to make any further moves.

"The Corpse Silkworm King" raised its head, staring intently at the offspring in Cha Wenbins hand. A pair of huge pincers danced non-stop, and suddenly it tilted its head to the left, arched its body, and swung its head back, shooting a black silk thread from its mouth. "Pop", it stuck to the stone wall.

Everyone took a look, and the large patch of moss that was originally there had turned black and withered quickly. Zhang Wenbin sucked in a breath of cold air, from the distance it looked like it could attack all five of them in their current position, at this speed if it were aimed at people earlier they would probably have ended up like the moss by now, it seemed that this move was the insect warning them!

Zha Wenbin didnt show weakness either, holding the Seven Star Sword and lightly slashing it across the small "Corpse Silkworm"s body, leaving a small wound. Black liquid quickly flowed out, and the small "Corpse Silkworm" writhed in agony on the rope, constantly rolling and twisting its body.

The big bug saw that its child was scratched, let out a "squeak" and swept its huge tail, knocking the stones on the edge into the air, as if venting its anger.

Cha Wenbins sword flashed, pointing directly at the "Corpse Silkworm King" in front of him, undaunted by its provocation! The "Corpse Silkworm King", holding its own child, slowly lowered its raised head and lay motionless on the ground.

While staring at the situation in front of him, he threw down the climbing rope and said: "You two hurry up and come up, this guy should have been following us all the way here. As long as we have this little one, that old one shouldnt dare to make a move."

The two of them didnt care about what was behind, and climbed up one after the other along the rope. Turning around to look, in front of them was a large expanse of water, which should be this huge rock stuck here, forming a small dam. There were quite a few trees that had been washed down, piled horizontally and vertically here.

Zhuo Xiong picked up a stone and threw it forward. A "thud" sound came, saying: "It seems that the water here is not shallow, we have no way to go, what should we do?"

There is no road ahead, and the enemy is chasing from behind. Moreover, there are two wounded comrades who have lost consciousness. Zhang Wenbin thought to himself, "Is it really necessary for me to sacrifice myself here?"

Chaozi gazed out at the endless waterway, also worried. The icy cold water really made him hesitant to swim across. Just as his eyes fell upon the piled-up layers of wooden planks, a brilliant idea struck him: "Got it! Blind guy, we can make a raft. With so many wooden planks here, pick a few, tie them together into a raft, and lets try paddling across!"

They got to work, and Chaozi and Zhuoxiong pulled some relatively straight and uniform wooden logs from the water to the dam. The military dagger had a good advantage, it was multi-purpose, could chop and stab, and the back could also be sawed. The two of them were now transformed into carpenters, cutting off branches, one by one, in order, using climbing ropes to tie this pile of wood together. The two sides of the square were reinforced with horizontal wooden planks, and after two hours, a simple wooden raft was really completed. During this period, Zhaowenbin continued to hold up the small "Jiangshi" and held back the large army of Jiangshi behind him. Neither side moved. His arms were sore from holding it up, but he didnt dare put down the sword that was propped on the small "Jiangshi", fearing a sneak attack.

"Brother Wenbin, the raft is ready, lets withdraw!"

Two men, first took off their own coats and spread them on the wet wooden raft, then lifted the two unconscious people onto it. Zha Wenbin sat in the middle holding a small oar, while Chaozi and Zhuo Xiong each held a long wooden pole as paddles at the head and tail. With a strong push, the wooden raft slowly began to float forward. Chaozi laughed loudly and said: "Indeed, heaven will not cut off the path of men! We have the wisdom of the great laboring people combined with ingenious creativity, can this small matter stump us?"

Zha Wenbin stared intently at the massive boulder, and indeed, just as they had left for a moment, a huge yellow figure jumped up onto it. As it charged to the surface of the water, it stopped, looking out at the wooden raft that was getting farther and farther away. The "Corpse Silkworm King" was so anxious that it thrashed its tail back and forth, smashing into the surrounding wood and shattering it into powder, a testament to its immense strength.

All three of them turned around to look at the scene, marveling at the incredible power of the insect. If it had swept across a persons body, they would have been killed instantly. Chao Zi couldnt help but admire Cha Wenbin once again - if he hadnt intervened, this little thing would probably have already been slaughtered by him, and now he himself would have become a snack in that big belly.

Zhuo Xiong looked at the "Corpse Silkworm King" which was fiercely smashing into wood and rocks, saying: "It seems that the Corpse Silkworm cant swim, otherwise it would have caught up by now."

Cha Wenbin shook his head, holding the small silkworm in his hand: "No, this underground cave is always soaked in water all year round, and there is no dry place for them to hide. I think it may not be afraid of water, but rather..."

The words had not been spoken yet, when the water surface suddenly made a "whooshing" sound, a huge tongue stretched out, its speed was so fast that people couldnt react, by the time they came to their senses and took a look, the small "corpse silkworm" in Zhang Wenbins hand had already disappeared, leaving only a smooth hemp rope still hanging on the hunting gun...
