Chapter Fifty-Four: The Tenth Coffin

Back again under the largest bronze coffin, several people looked around and did not find the "corpse silkworm", only then were they at ease.

Zha Wenbin looked up at the top of the cliff, and the tactical spotlights beam followed suit, illuminating a huge bronze disc exposed outside. At the center of the disc was a cave entrance, pitch black, making it impossible to see what was inside.

Zha Wenbin swung his flashlight, letting the light spin around in that cave and said: "Do you see? Theres a hole up there."

Chao Zi and Zhuo Xiong were also amazed, it turned out that the insect had crawled into the hole just now. Chao Zi pointed to the hole with his finger and said: "The top of this cliff is only about 20 meters high from the ground, and the entrance of the cave looks like it can hold one person, why dont I climb up and take a look?"

Zha Wenbins style of doing things has always been to seek stability, and he generally will not take the initiative to attack before figuring out the truth. But now they have all seen that "Corpse Silkworm King" go up and come down, if you dont get to the bottom of this matter, by the time you leave, who knows if there will be another chance to come back? After some consideration, he firmly said: "Go take a look!"

This job was not difficult for these few people, Super Child took out the climbing rope from his body, tied a stone block on his head, made a dead knot, and swung the rope in his hand with a "whooshing" sound, accelerating to the point where it could only be seen as a circle with the naked eye. Suddenly, he loosened his hand, and the stone flew towards the top of the cliff with the rope, making a "clang" sound. The stone wrapped itself around the bronze disc at the top, which was hollow in the middle. The outer edge was a circle, and the inner part was also a circle. The two circles were connected by five bronze rods, and the opening was located inside the inner circle.

The rope was now wrapped around one of the bronze pillars, and Chaozi pulled hard several times, but it didnt budge. He thought to himself that with five huge bronze coffins hanging below, this thing should be able to withstand a little weight.

Chaozi gently placed the cold, stiff body on the ground, holding a dagger in his mouth. After exchanging a glance with Cha Wenbin, he began to climb up. This task was not difficult for him, but todays twenty-meter height gave him an inexplicable pressure. The closer he got to the dark cave entrance, the stronger the oppressive feeling became. After a short while, Chaozi reached the entrance and waved at the people below, indicating that he had arrived. Cha Wenbin made a gesture to enter the cave, and Chaozi took a deep breath, poking his head inside.

The space inside was huge, and Chaozi could see at a glance that it was a hollowed-out mountain body. Someone had carved out this cave on the top of the cliff, and because it had been submerged in water for years, there was still a lot of accumulated water inside the cave at this moment. The light swept across, but couldnt completely see the entire appearance of the cave. A huge stone coffin lay quietly beside the cave, Chaozi looked up from below, without a lid, compared to the bronze coffin lid that had fallen earlier, it should be here, using bronze as the coffin lid, but using stone as the coffin body, why? Chaozi only felt that the stone coffin in front of him was very eerie at this moment, and before he even got close, the cold air had already made his hair stand on end. He quickly retreated another step, and his whole person reappeared outside the cave.

Chaozi hung on the rope and shouted down: "Wenbin brother, there is a coffin inside, but its not bronze, its stone! The lid has been opened, cant see whats inside!"

Zha Wenbin was shocked to find that the object above was a stone coffin, which greatly exceeded his expectations. Until now, there has never been a coffin made of two materials, this is absolutely an exception! He glanced at Leng Yiran on the ground and said to Zhuo Xiong: "Brother Zhuo Xiong, Ill go up and take a look. You stay down here and watch our equipment and people. If theres any movement in a while, you shout loudly for us."

He rushed up again, tightened the rope, and although he felt a bit uneasy in his heart, he couldnt bring himself to say anything. He could only grit his teeth and crawl back into the cave, squatting down next to the stone coffin, pointing his shotgun at it, thinking: If you jump out with something in a moment, dont blame me for blowing your brains out!

"Chaozi, what are you doing? Put the gun away. In such a small space, if it goes off accidentally, it would be strange if you dont get hurt." Chaozi looked down and saw that Zha Wenbins head had already crawled in. He put down his rifle, reached out to grab Zha Wenbins hand, and pulled him in with force.

Looking around, this is a cave with an area of about ten square meters, about three meters high. The stone walls around the cave are full of artificial excavation marks, just like Chaozi described. Except for a stone coffin lying quietly in the middle, there is nothing else.

"Superior son, youre an archaeologist, whats this cave used for?"

Chaozi replied, "Wenbin brother, its common to chisel holes on cliffs or use natural caves to place coffins, thats called hanging coffin, and there are many in the Three Gorges. But this one, hollowing out the top of the cliff to place coffins, is the first time Ive seen it. However, since its used for placing coffins, then this should be a tomb."

Cha Wenbin nodded and said: "Not bad, this should be a tomb. To be honest, Ive never seen this kind of tomb before, but its not the first time Ive heard of it."

"So, Wenbin, you know the origin of this tomb?"

"Look at the five bronze coffins below," said Cha Wenbin, "take the owners five pre-burial items as a suspicious tomb, arranged according to the Five Elements, and used in the Four Images corresponding to a persons life. Wood, Fire, Metal, Water can represent birth, growth, old age, and death. The middle one, Earth, represents entering the earth for peace, that is, from the five coffins below, this person has completed all the cycles in the sun, and has fulfilled the ultimate destination after death."

He continued: "But this person was not willing to die like that, and used a human corpse to pile up the Eight Trigrams diagram as a funeral object. In this ancient well, a large amount of yin energy gathered, turning this place into a human hell on earth, making it impossible for anyone approaching here to detect any signs of life, leaving only death behind. The four bronze coffins placed in the village above, we didnt examine them closely, but judging from the use of the Four Great Evil Beasts to guard them, those four coffins should also be suspicious tombs, using objects similar to the tomb owners death as substitutes, with the purpose of letting descendants come and worship. In fact, his purpose in doing so was simply to tell the world that he was already dead."

Chaozi listened to this long speech and didnt quite understand, so he asked: "Wenbin brother, your meaning is that this person stirred up all these things just to announce his own death? If hes dead, then hes dead, why bother with such a big fuss?"

Cha Wen laughed and continued: "Chaozi, have you ever heard of the Three Realms and Five Elements? The Three Realms refer to Heaven, Earth, and Man; the Five Elements are Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. In Taoist teachings, there is a way to escape death, which is to leap out of the Three Realms and not be within the Five Elements. Because all things in the world are within the scope of the Three Realms and Five Elements, with birth and death following the cycle of cause and effect. If you can leave this scope, then you will not be bound by it, which means you can be free and live forever."

Chao Zi was shocked, he used to be a thorough materialist, but since the Wang Zhuang incident, he got to know Cha Wenbin and began to have new views on some things, especially after coming here, many things had already told him with his own eyes that this could not be explained by science. He asked Cha Wenbin: "Wenbin brother, is there really immortality in this world? How can he jump out of the three realms and five elements?"

Cha Wenbin said: "In my opinion, these several coffins are not buried at one time, but separately. Its just that before each burial, a special ritual needs to be performed. This person has three souls and seven spirits in his body. The three souls are: the first soul is called Taiguang, which is the yang energy of Taiqing, belonging to heaven; the second soul is called Shaoling, which is the transformation of yin energy, belonging to the five elements; the third soul is called Youjing, which is the mixture of yin energy, belonging to earth. When these three souls are gathered together, they appear as a red, human-shaped figure."

Chaozi glanced at Zha Wenbin, trying to find the red human figure on him. Unexpectedly, Zha Wenbin said, "Dont look for it anymore, ordinary people cant see it."

Chaozi saw through himself and could only roll his tongue, then asked: "What about the seven phantoms?"

"The seven Po are: Corpse Dog, Crouching Arrow, Sparrow Shade, Swallowing Thief, Non-Toxic, Excluding Filth, and Stinky Lung. These seven Po are black in color and usually represent the situation of your past life. If you were reborn as an animal, it would be in the form of that animal; if you were reborn as a human, it would be in human form.

Among the three Hun, the Heavenly and Earthly Hun are usually outside, while only the Life Hun resides within the body. The three Hun do not often gather together.

The seven Po consist of two Heavenly Po, two Earthly Po, and three Human Po. They correspond to yin and yang and never separate, always attached to the human body. The seven Po in the human body are controlled by the Life Hun.

The Life Hun is also known as the Human Soul or Colorful Soul. A persons life on earth is produced from this Life Hun dwelling in the womb. After the Life Hun dwells in the womb, it distributes its energy to the seven wheels of the human body, forming the seven Po. The Po are unique to the human flesh; when a person dies, the seven Po disperse, and the Life Hun also departs, marking the end of our life.

Just then, Zhang Wenbin pointed his Seven-Star Sword and shouted: Come out, Life Soul! You shouldnt still exist in this world!"

Chaozi was taken aback by Cha Wenbins sudden shout, and instinctively dodged to the side. By the time he looked back, Cha Wenbin had already put away his relaxed expression and was staring at the stone coffin with a serious face, his treasured sword pressed against it! This sudden change caught Chaozi off guard, and before he could react, a "thud thud thud" sound came from within the stone coffin...
