This "moon appreciation" is not that "moon appreciation", no mooncake, no yellow rice wine, let alone those elegant sentiments.
Cha Wenbin sat cross-legged on the ground, lit two candles in front of him and inserted three incense sticks. Everyone knew that he was going to perform a ritual.
With a flick of his wrist, the evil-repelling bell in his hand rang out, and the Seven Stars Sword pointed at a talisman paper as it aimed at the North Dipper. He held a mouthful of strong liquor and suddenly spat it forward, a blue-purple flame burning slowly along the hilt of the sword, like a small purple dragon swimming on the blade.
As the flames reached the tip of his sword, Cha Wenbin murmured: "The human path is desolate, the immortal path is vast; The ghostly path is joyful, it is the gate to life; The immortal path values life, the ghostly path values death. All ghosts share the same joy, and the hellish realm rises without bounds!"
With a loud "boom", the talisman paper instantly turned into a ball of flames, and at this moment, his hand was grasping a small dragon that was burning and roaring as if it were about to rush towards the sky.
"With feet on the Seven Stars, changing steps like the wind, shoes treading on the North Dipper, sword pointing to the sky, reciting: 'In the Northern Department of Quan Miao Fu, there are countless ghosts and spirits. But wanting to block human calculations, cutting off human life's door. Ah, person, sing the Dong Zhang song, to capture the northern Luo Xuan. Binding and reciting the magic spirits, beheading the six ghostly blades. The heavenly energy is vast and clear, my Tao daily flourishes!'"
When the paper fireball burned out, Cha Wenbin took out a silver needle and slowly inserted it into the Baihui hole. Borrowing his life, Cha Wenbin didn't even know how many times he could borrow it. This move was to seal off all possible holes that might let his soul escape, concentrating all his power to explode at one point. The consequence of doing so was also extraordinary, sacrificing the accumulated energy of the past few days. Moreover, this was his second time borrowing his life in just a few short days. But he had no choice, if he couldn't get out, it would be death!
He stood the Seven Stars Sword beside him, with the earth as its scabbard. From the Bagua bag, he took out a bronze Bagua mirror. The mirror is the thing that can best reflect reality. What one side of it is, the other side will also be. Only it won't deceive the eyes, so the mirror can have the power to ward off evil spirits. It can make ghosts and monsters see their own appearance, realize they shouldn't appear in the human world.
Cha Wenbin turned the mirror towards the moon and kept switching angles, drawing on the ground. He was trying to reflect the moon's light!
Using a mirror to reflect sunlight and draw circles on the wall, I believe many people have played with this before. But have you ever used a mirror to reflect moonlight? If so, older people who see it will definitely scold you.
The doorway in here is where the sunlight shines for the living, so those things can't come out during the day. Moonlight, on the other hand, is just right for them to shine with, and suddenly you might see something you don't want to see in the mirror!
And he, Cha Wenbin was using this taboo to search for what he wanted.
The white moonlight spills onto the desolate land, where broken walls cast fragmented shadows. The soul flag is stretched infinitely at this moment, and as the moon's position changes, its shadow also transforms gradually. When your and my line of sight are completely enchanted by this warm scene, the unexpected will arrive unexpectedly.
At last, the hour of Zi arrived, and the moment when yin energy was at its strongest. The shadow of the soul-calling flag had completely transformed into a point and merged with its wooden stake. "The ominous hour has come! Everyone get ready!" Zhang Wenhong shouted loudly, after which the Eight Trigrams mirror in his hand suddenly flipped over, casting a faint beam of moonlight onto the ground. It was very faint, so faint that it was almost impossible to discern with the naked eye, because the moonlight was really too weak, not strong enough for us to notice its focal point.
There was no light on the ground, but that didn't mean there was no light in Zha Wenbin's heart. In his eyes, a beam of light emitted by the moonlight quickly swept over every inch of land he had locked onto. Finally, when this point reached a very inconspicuous broken stone in the northwest direction of the Soul Summoning Flag, Zha Wenbin stopped, and a stunning scene appeared!
Everywhere was filled with moonlight on the ground, there was a black existence!
Zha Wenbin's hand moved slightly, and the broken stone reappeared, still quietly lying there. However, when he reset the mirror on his hand again, the place where the stone was originally became a patch of darkness once more.
Like a black hole, it swallowed all the reflected light sources in the world. The setting was too clever, Zhang Wenbin sighed in his heart. The original moonlight couldn't be absorbed because it couldn't expose its exact location, but the refracted one could, because it couldn't resist this force that condensed and ejected the moonlight to a point, just like a delicate pastry placed in front of a greedy and hungry person, how can he not be tempted!
"Right there, shoot!" Cha Wenbin shouted, holding up the mirror and nodding his head. He knew that if this scene were to happen again, it might be many years later, because it was so clever!
"!" Zhuo Xiong raised his hand and fired a shot, originally this bullet would have sparked when hitting the stone, basic physics knowledge. This 0.50 caliber bullet that could penetrate a rhino's head was like shooting into a cotton ball, silently without even making a sound of impact.
A moment later, if one had to talk about time, it could only be calculated in milliseconds. The area that was originally pitch black suddenly regained its moonlight, and a faint smoke was rising into the air. A bowl-sized crater was forever left on that piece of rock.
"It's right here." When Cha Wenbin led them to the edge of that stone, pointing at the bullet hole. The purpose of Zhu Xiong's shot was to leave a mark. For the calculation of the Tao, the ancestors who were proficient in astronomy and geography could accurately calculate up to six decimal places. Any deviation in measurement would render all previous efforts useless, because the good or bad fortune of Feng Shui can be decided by tiny differences, a deviation of just one or two degrees would turn a lucky house into an unlucky one.
That stone looks like a door lintel from an old house, used to support the pressure from above the door frame, which means there was originally a gate here.
No one would build a mansion on a deathbed, which emperor would be willing to live in a ghost nest? Then there are only two other explanations for this place: altar or tomb!
This area of knowledge, although not Zhang Wenbin's strong point, is actually Old Wang's strong point. He specializes in archaeology!
Old Wang said: "From the topography and landforms, this place is indeed suitable for building an altar. Firstly, the terrain here is the highest in the surrounding area, and the smoke and fire rising from here can be seen in every corner of the sacrificial scene. However, I did not find any altar on site. The most important part of the ancient people's sacrificial field is the position of the soul-calling flag, which should be the highest. But judging from the scattered building remains on site, this place seems more like a large temple, as there are column foundation stones all around and door frame stones. If one dares to make an inference, it could even be an ancient ancestral hall."
Cha Wenbin merely said from the layout: "This place gathers the grievances of the world, aggregates the evil spirits that have no match, and is willing to transform a true dragon into an evil spirit. The person who built this should be matched with the word 'evil'. I think only those who practice the ghostly way can make use of this kind of thing, so it's no wonder that Shi Tou would appear here."
"What is this Devil's Way?" Old Wang had never heard of it before, but he followed Cha Wenbin and encountered one after another such heretics.
Zha Wenbin shook his head and said, "I don't understand the underlying principles either, it's just some individuals' understanding. The world is divided into three paths: human path, heavenly path, and ghostly path, each representing the highest cultivation in the three realms. People of this world should follow the human path: practice filial piety and righteousness, clarify right and wrong, distinguish good and evil, be loyal to the king, this is the human path; while the heavenly path is about exploring the principles of heaven and fate, the cycle of the three realms, trying to peek into the endless changes of all things, grasping the rules of nature, in order to change the originally set destiny. My sect's Heavenly Path doctrine is precisely this: Dao gives birth to one, one gives birth to two, two gives birth to three, three gives birth to ten thousand things, ten thousand things carry yin and embrace yang, qi collides to form harmony, becoming wuji, no birth has, for taiji, taiji operates and governs the four directions, controls life and death, grasps good and bad fortune, holds the operation of heavenly principles, wins or loses.
However, the correct path is often obscure. When facing choices in life's journey, one must consider carefully and not choose the wrong path! Therefore, the Ghostly Path represents a deviated path. At first, it gives people a wonderful feeling, but as you walk further, you'll find it becoming more and more evil, with demons and monsters dancing wildly and acting recklessly. On the other hand, the Heavenly Path and Human Path initially feel difficult to walk on, giving people a very perplexed feeling, but as you walk further, you'll discover that all things are at your service!
"What's your inference?" Old Wang asked.
"Ghost Path Dojo!"
A chill wind swept in, the soul flag excitedly fluttered as if it had met a worthy opponent, rolling wildly, its direction pointing straight at Cha Wenbin...
