Chapter Fourteen: A Distant Goal
Now that everything has been said, the situation has become clearer, and the atmosphere of eating is no longer as stiff as it was at the beginning of the meal, gradually becoming more harmonious.
In the process of conversation, Hao Ren knew that the interior decoration of this house was designed by Zhao Hongyu himself. Moreover, Zhao Hongyu's identity in ordinary life is a designer, and he is quite famous in the design circle.
After further communication, Hao Ren was surprised to learn that the East Sea University Gymnasium, which was just completed last year and is one of the top ten landmark buildings in Donghai City, as well as a promotional picture often used on the university's recruitment brochure, was actually designed by Zhao Yanzi's mother.
His father was a business magnate, and his mother was a famous designer. In such a family, it's obvious that they had already surpassed the middle class. Even if they didn't have their so-called hidden identities, Zhao Yanzi, at her age, had enough capital to be proud of in real life. Hao Ren thought to himself as he ate.
During the meal, it was mainly Zhao Hongyu who chatted with Hao Ren. Next to her, Zhao Guang ate steadily, occasionally interjecting a sentence. Meanwhile, Zhao Yanzi lowered his head and devoured his food in big mouthfuls, chewing vigorously, as if he were eating not rice but Hao Ren himself.
The legendary meeting with his girlfriend's parents was just like this. Hao Ren answered their questions while secretly guessing.
"Are your parents both abroad?" Zhao Hongyu asked Hao Ren again.
"Ah, should be back next month." Hao Ren replied.
Zhao Hongyu thought for a moment, "Otherwise, let's wait until your parents come back and we can have our two families meet each other."
Hao Ren's heart skipped a beat. He had just barely accepted the reality of having to be in close contact with Zhao Yanzi for an extended period, when Zhao Hongyu brought up this request again, pushing him to the edge psychologically once more.
If Dad and Mom knew that I found an unmarried middle school student as my fiancée while they were not in the country, I don't know what their reaction would be...
"Now that things have been settled, it's normal for the parents of both families to meet each other." Zhao Hongyu said, seeing Hao Ren's hesitant expression.
Hao Ren gazed at Zhao Hongyu's gentle face, and from her sincere eyes, he knew she wanted to settle this matter as soon as possible. After all, in her mind, such things ultimately still required the parents' consent.
"I didn't say I was going to marry him!" Zhao Yanzi raised her head and finally couldn't help but say a sentence.
"You must take responsibility for your own mistakes. If you hadn't left Master Lu's supervision without permission, how could this mistake have occurred? Do you expect others to bear the consequences of your own wrongdoing?" Zhao Hongyu's face remained gentle, but her tone turned severe.
Zhaoyan Zi stopped talking, she also knew that she was in the wrong. But to let her marry this "uncle" because of such a mistake, she was very unhappy in her heart.
"Hao Ren is very sensible, I'm very satisfied." Zhao Hongyu stared at Zhao Yanzi, "You're not young anymore, you can't always throw a tantrum like a child. You should take responsibility for what you need to take care of, how long can your dad and I protect you? We've settled things down, hoping you'll calm down and stop thinking like a child who doesn't know the rules."
Hearing Zhao Hongyu say this, Zhao Yanzi looked at Zhao Hongyu with a wronged expression, wanting to cry but not wanting to lose face in front of Hao Ren, so she could only bite her lip and endure.
When Zhao Hongyu scolded Zhao Yanzi, Zhao Guang, as the father, remained silent. His stance was obviously the same as Zhao Hongyu's.
Hao Ren always felt that Zhao Yanzi's parents had a deeper meaning in handling this matter, but Zhao Yanzi was too young and couldn't understand it yet.
Are they taking this opportunity to entrust A Zi to me? Is it that with their abilities and background, there are some unspoken crises?
"Ah Ren," Zhao Hongyu turned her head to look at Hao Ren, "Ah Zi has a childish temper, you should give in to her more often."
"Uh-huh, I know." At this moment, Hao Ren could only respond with a nod.
Seeing Zhao Yan's eyes red and swollen as if she was about to cry, Zhao Guang, who had a stern expression on the surface, couldn't help but feel some sympathy for her. He said to her, "Finish eating and then go rest."
Zhao Yanzi nodded and ran upstairs with a thud.
Hao Ren gazed at her small back, then turned his head and looked at Zhao Hongyu and Zhao Guang.
"Let her be quiet for a while." Zhao Hongyu said.
Hao Ren awkwardly lowered his head and chuckled.
"To be honest, what do you think of Ah Zi?" Zhao Hongyu asked.
Hao Ren's impression of this ill-tempered little girl was really not very good, but in front of her parents, he couldn't mention her shortcomings. So Hao Ren racked his brains to think of Zhao Yanzi's strengths.
"She's quite pretty, although a bit spoiled, but also quite lovely." He thought for a few seconds and said. Pretty and spoiled were the only advantages he could think of.
"You are older than her, so take care of her more often. My husband and I have a lot of things to attend to, so we don't have much time to take care of her. This has made her personality a bit eccentric and slightly arrogant." Zhao Hongyu said sincerely, looking at Hao Ren.
"Hmm." Hao Ren nodded. Although he didn't particularly like that little chili pepper Zhao Yanzi, he was still moved by the parental love of Zhao Hongyu and his wife.
In fact, Zhao Yanzi's feelings, he can understand, when he was a child, his parents were busy with work and rarely took care of him, so he was more independent and self-reliant in his childhood. Fortunately, he still had a grandmother who cared for him meticulously, which made him have a relatively beautiful memory in his youth.
"Go and accompany her." Zhao Hongyu muttered towards the direction of the stairs.
"Good." Hao Ren immediately put down his chopsticks and walked up the wooden stairs to the second floor.
On the wall of the stairs, some abstract paintings were hung, walking slowly, with a very artistic gallery flavor. And through a small window at the corner of the second floor, Hao Ren could see the quiet and wonderful backyard, couldn't help but admire Zhao Hongyu's sense of house design.
Zhao Yanzi's room was the first one at the corner of the second floor, and Hao Ren knew it by the small black cat hanging on his door.
He stood at the door and knocked on it.
There was no sound inside.
"Hey, aren't you going to let me in?" Hao Ren asked after standing there for a few seconds.
"You can go and report it if you have the ability." A voice full of grievances came from inside, belonging to Zhao Yanzi.
Hao Ren chuckled and intentionally took a few small steps, creating the illusion of going downstairs on the wooden floor.
Knock knock knock...... A small rush in the room, Zhao Yanzi thought Hao Ren really went downstairs to report, and hastily ran over to open the door.
She rushed out of the room wanting to go to the stairs to pull Hao Ren, but unexpectedly Hao Ren was standing at the door and she bumped into his arms.
Her soft and tender body didn't hurt Hao Ren, but it tickled his stomach.
Hao Ren stretched out his hands to catch the shoulders of this careless little girl, lowered his head and looked at her, "Am I that kind of person who reports others?"
Zhao Yanzi raised her head, her face flushing red. "Obviously!" she said stubbornly, despite having misjudged the situation.
Hao Ren smiled and didn't argue with her, gently pushing her away as he walked into her bedroom.
"Hey, don't you have any manners? You just barge into my room." Zhao Yanzi stood at the door, looking at Hao Ren with dissatisfaction.
"I've entered my own fiancée's room, what's wrong with that?" Hao Ren said intentionally turning his head to look at her.
"You..." Zhao Yanzi glared at Hao Ren, wanting to be angry, but unable to muster up any anger.
Her eyes were red, as if she had really cried. Hao Ren saw this scene and didn't want to bully her either, avoiding her angry gaze, pretending to be nonchalant while glancing around her room.
Through the floor-to-ceiling window, this small bedroom can appreciate a flower and a tree in the courtyard full of oriental charm. The outside sunlight pours in, shining on the transparent glass cup, with a dazzling beauty.
On the windowsill, there is a light green fish tank with several goldfish inside. Above the bed, a large calligraphy poster in a frame hangs, bringing a unique artistic atmosphere to this bedroom.
The light yellow wall is also filled with the warmth of a little girl, especially those teddy bear dolls, proving that the owner of this bedroom is still a little girl who needs care and protection.
