Chapter 14: Sweeping Away

  Chapter Fourteen: Sweeping

In November, the weather gradually cooled down, but New York's fashionable girls wore shorter skirts. To keep warm, they even wore woolen stockings, yet they refused to take off those ultra-short skirts that only reached halfway up their thighs.

This is a product of Angel Garment Design Co., Ltd. They have many other products, but only mini skirts are the most popular.

The whole world has been dormant for fifteen years since World War II, and the golden age of capitalist society is about to arrive. The trend, however, has taken a step ahead and spread throughout the entire society.

For a time, girls in super short skirts could be seen on streets and alleys everywhere, even though the current New York is not very safe.

This trend is even spreading outward to Pennsylvania, Washington, New Jersey, Ohio and so on.

However, since Angel Corporation has registered a design patent, only they can produce ultra-short skirts for the time being, while others can only watch.

"We did it! We succeeded!" Lisa looked at the sales record for this month, and her heart was infinitely excited.

This originally started as a mini skirt craze from London, a few years ahead of time, then exploded in New York City.

Although the sales were exceptionally hot, Catherine knew that it would not be until after the Vietnam War had officially started and the hippie movement began to erupt that the mini skirt would truly be accepted and recognized, and before then, no matter how hot they were, they could only be considered a fad rather than an emblem of the era.

In fact, mainstream media has already reported on miniskirts, but more often than not, it's negative news.

The mainstream society does not recognize ultra-short skirts as a commodity, and this commodity is always in a dangerous situation.

In fact, in the future ultra-mini skirts can be popular, it has to be said that this is the credit of hippies.

Catherine looked out of the window and thought about future problems.

With just the clothing industry alone, you might be able to live a carefree life with no worries about food and clothing.

But is this really one's own pursuit?

  No! Absolutely not!

Catherine was not satisfied with this and wanted to do many things, which was absolutely not enough. She is an ambitious person.

"Maybe we can add some extra flair," Lily said. "Let's have Ida and Kate wear our skirts and walk down the street, everyone will love our clothes!"

"But the factory is already running at full capacity and we don't have the ability to make more clothes, and the seamstresses probably wouldn't like overtime either," said Jenny.

"Can't we just increase production?" Jenny asked.

"No, in that case, when the off-season comes, we won't know what to do with all the extra workers," Catherine interjected.

"But why don't we go take a few publicity photos instead? Maybe that'll work. Let's go to Uncle Holman's place." Lily suggested.

"Maybe we should open a few more stores... No, we can fill the whole world with our clothing stores!" Catherine said, thinking that now is the best time to occupy the market, otherwise it would be too late when the patent protection period arrives. And design patents are probably the most unreliable patents of all.

Talk is cheap, a group of people took advantage of Friday afternoon and swarmed into New York City.

Since the company was founded, Hormann has turned his own studio into the company's headquarters. As the company's business expanded, Hormann gradually had no time to open a studio, and he simply closed his studio and completely became their company.

This uncle-level character with a full beard must have some vision to spot business opportunities. Otherwise, why would he consider investing in a company consisting entirely of junior high school students?

However, this company is also entirely managed by him, which shows that his abilities are not bad either.

Catherine sat in a window seat while Ida was beside her, smiling to herself. But Catherine could only blush and lower her face.

  "Never mind."

That night's events, Catherine would say she didn't take to heart, that was a lie, but she just treated that night's events as a seasoning, even if it were something, she just thought it was for a higher sky.

But as I was saying, it's really comfortable...

A few people arrived at the headquarters of what was now called "Angel Fashion Design Co., Ltd."

"Kate, come and change into this."

Another ultra-mini skirt was handed over to Catherine.

  "Uh-huh."

  Now Catherine's career is booming.

The name of "Harry Potter" has already begun to appear, although it can't be said to be very popular yet, but it's already quite well-received. Catherine has the advantage of being a late starter, after all, Harry Potter was written by Rowling over a period of more than ten years, and it's hard to say whether the plot style can achieve balance and perfection. In contrast, Catherine wrote her work in one breath, spending only a few months in total, with a writing style and plot that are already quite compact. Catherine confidently believes that from this point of view, she has done much better than Rowling.

Catherine also considered turning the "Harry Potter" series into a film, but unfortunately, the conditions of this era were not sufficient.

Of course, it's not entirely accurate to say that they're not good enough, because in this era, famous films like "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Star Wars" were also leaders in special effects, and they were produced without the use of computer special effects.

Human wisdom is boundless, as long as there's a desire to advance, hardware devices can't hold people back, just like the special effects in the 80s movie "Blade Runner" are even better than some films from the 90s and 21st century.

  "Kate, look over here."

Horman raised his camera, while Lily seemed to have just gone out.

She smiled and then the flashbulb flashed once.

They stopped after taking just a few photos.

Lily's voice came in, seemingly... arguing?

"Cut! A group of little girls also learn from others to hold cameras. Do you know what a camera is? Do you know movies? Do you know Hollywood?"

Just as Catherine and the others rushed out, they saw Lily arguing with someone at the door.

But they seemed to have made up, as the man was now turning around and leaving.

This guy looks like a hippie, with a face full of recklessness, as if the four characters "bad young man" are written on his face.

Hippies had not yet appeared, but similar dress can be traced back to the 1920s. People who wore such clothes were mostly rebellious young people in their youth.

Catherine rushed over and asked: "What's wrong, Lily?"

At this time, Lily was completely red in the face, looking like she was furious.
