  My dearest diary,

  Today I received a letter from Salvatore, telling me how he is sorry for what he has done to me. Telling me that my dear Ramona is a liar. I know that that is not true, for she loves me and I love her, she would never lie to me, unlike him. Sure, we did not care for each other in that way, and I do not care for men and he did not seem to care for either men or women. But all of a sudden he's so deeply in love with a man that he has to leave me! Yes I was with Ramona for a large part of the time and he would occasionally sleep with a man, but he did not have to ruin my reputation like that! If he was planning on leaving me, he should've never asked my father to marry me! He should've spared me the shame... The fire... My eye... This scar! He did not have to lie about me like that, he did not have to spread those rumours!
