Chapter 3- Show Me

  Year 6

  "Bawaaaahhahaah!!!! Show me something Beast. You've been running off to the forest and practicing your Magyk, have you not. Let me see what the fruits of my Loins can accomplish! Bhwahahhhh!!!! Oooph. "

  His laugh ended with a smack to the face by a ladle. Beast mother gave his father a glare and went back to stirring the soup.

  "Hahahahah As I was saying Beast. A Slayer must take pride in himself. Now show me what you have learned of your power. Show me your pride."

  They sat outside for a picnic. Watching the flowers dance lazily and feasting on fruit and bread.

  It had been three months since the day Beast had destroyed his home and fell into a painting that had shown him his magyk. Three months that he had in fact had been using to practice something, but that wasn't on his mind right now.

  Right now Beast was sitting on the tarp trying to get a large fruit to reveal it's juices and losing against a particular hardy peel. Titan laughed and plucked it from his hands tossing it in the air and dissecting it into fours before it could fall. He caught the fruit and held three pieces toward Beast keeping the last one out of reach.

  "Show me the Magyk and it's all yours. "

  Beast small gold eyes narrowed, he knew a challenge when he saw one. Before his father's reach kept him just too far out of grasp, but now.

  With small steps Beast ran forward and jumped off the ground. His father laughed as he gauged the distance.

  'The boy won't be good with the sword if he's this far off. ' he thought.

  Then beast landed.

  In the air.

  With a quick snatch he grabbed the fruit before waltzing back down imaginary steps and taking a bite.

  His father looked at him flabbergasted.

  Beast shook his head and got to munching.

  "Space domain?" His mother chimed from the side.

  Her usual gold eyes turned as she regarded his Magyk.

  "I see. Hmmmm. Interesting."

  Beast and his father shared a look as they regarded her. Then shrugged their shoulders. She could get like this for a while when she saw something interesting.

  They started a game of Titan throwing pebbles and beast jumping through the sky to catch them. He had quite good reactions and the game progressed far.

  He would twist quickly while in the air. His hands and feet landing upon the sky before bouncing up quickly. Running on the sky so freely he was able to turn close calls into possible catches.

  Eventually he fell on the grass exhausted.

  Beast turned his eyes in confusion. He hadn't felt this before, this deep need for air, his heart beating so heavy, what was this.

  "Bwahahahahha!!! Look 'Anna' he's tired. "

  An iris stopped turning.

  She looked over, her expression bordering on amusement.

  "I had almost thought he wouldn't be bothered by it. "

  Titan laughed deeper and looked over at his son. "Magyk isn't so easy that you can call on it for free boy. "

  Beast didn't respond. He just breathed in deep and fell asleep. The Magyk taking it's toll.

  Titans laughter eventually settled and he got up to wrap his son with a large blanket. He patted his son's head softly and turned his gaze to his wife.

  "What do you think ?"

  Anna swept her hair across her brow and considered it.

  "Why do you think?"

  Titan chuckled. "He will eventually surpass me. "

  Anna thought that over and considered her husband's words then pouted.

  "I can tell his domain has left him instruction of a sort.One day when he masters the foundation he will become a force of nature. . "

  Titan nodded at that and the couple fell into silence. Then he smirked.

  "If. You mean. "

  "If? "

  "He calls your runes paintings. I don't think he finds them interesting. "

  Anna frowned. "No one likes the basics. "

  They fell into laughter for a while, then Titan spoke up with seriousness. “I Think the best thing we can do is let the boy grow into his Magyk naturally. When it is time we will know. "

  Anna nodded and together the couple snuggled together as they thought of simpler things and smiled as they watched their child snore in slumber.
