Volume 1 Rebirth Return Chapter 2 The Curtain Falls
Su Rui felt her life force slowly draining from her body, wanting to cry out for help, but thinking that the only person in this house was her enemy. She opened and closed her mouth, finally closing her eyes instead. If there were a hell, that would be great. That way she could beg for Grandpa's forgiveness. Death would be better too.
Suddenly, Su Rui felt a sharp pain, the kind that pierced her soul. It was as if someone was trying to tear her soul apart. After the pain subsided, she found herself floating in mid-air, watching Wu Yong, that hypocrite, anxiously helping the woman stop bleeding, without even glancing at her once from start to finish.
She smiled self-deprecatingly, what was she still expecting? As for him, shouldn't she have given up by now? Closing her eyes and opening them again, the only thing left in her eyes was a thread of lingering love, all transformed into bone-piercing hatred.
She hates him! He trampled her love. He destroyed the hard-won family affection she had. He made her his accomplice, causing her loved ones to die miserably!
She floated in mid-air, the hatred in her eyes transformed into madness. She rushed over to strangle him to death. But as a soul, she passed through Wu Yong's body the moment she touched him. She stared at her nearly transparent hands and let out a mournful cry. Why! Why couldn't she kill him!
Suddenly a gust of wind blew, and Su Rui disappeared on the spot. Wu Yong felt a chill on his back, thinking that the window was not closed, but he didn't care. However, it was scorching hot outside, without even a breeze.
When Su Rui opened her eyes and found herself in a mourning hall, the photo above was hers. Her second brother, Su Song, knelt in front of her photo, crying sadly.
"Third son, don't be afraid, Grandfather and Big Brother will take good care of you over there... Third son, it's all Second Brother's fault, your big brother didn't protect you well! If I had told you earlier that Big Brother's death might have something to do with the Wu family, would you have been on guard against Wu Yong? Would you not have died so young?! You've only been back home for three years! We promised to let you live a happy life forever! It's all my fault... it's all my fault... damn the Wu family! Third son, rest assured, Second Brother will definitely avenge you! Definitely!" As he spoke, Su Rui saw the deep-seated hatred in Second Brother's eyes.
Su Rui looked at her second brother crying, wanting to hug him, but thinking that she no longer had a physical body, she could only kneel in a hugging posture, her head leaning against Su Xuan's shoulder, silently shedding tears...
Kneeling Su Xiang felt his shoulders were wet, stood up, opened his eyes wide and shouted at the top "San Er! Is that you?! You came to see Second Brother?! Second Brother will avenge for you all! Speak up! Respond to Da Su Su, okay... Ah!"
Su Rui looked at Su Xuan like this, and her tears became more turbulent, falling to the ground.
Su Xiang stared at the water marks in front of him, disbelieving. He knew that San Er must have returned. With a deep gaze forward, "San Er, was it Wu Yong who killed you? What accident, that's definitely something the Wu family made up! San Er, tell Second Brother! Second Brother will avenge you!"
No one could respond to him, and all they saw was that puddle of water gradually forming into three words: "I'm sorry!"
Su Rui shouted "Sorry!" in mid-air, and suddenly a strong wind blew out all the candles on the mourning hall, Su Rui also disappeared on the spot.
Reappearing, Su Rui found herself in court, with Wu Jun, her former father-in-law, and Wu Yong, her husband, sitting on the defendant's bench. On the plaintiff's bench sat Su Xiang, who had gone gray-haired at a young age, but had finally collected enough evidence to bring down the Wu family after much effort.
Wu Yong and Wu Jun were sentenced to death and executed immediately, while Wu Zhengdao lay in his hospital bed until he died without waking up.
Su Rui's uncle was also rehabilitated, sitting in the audience. However, her originally spirited and handsome uncle had become a white-haired old man, his empty pant leg indicating that he had lost his left leg. He was once the most famous handsome man in the capital. Her stunningly talented uncle ended up like this because of her, while Second Brother Ye Chengbei sat beside him, previously sunny and cheerful but now gloomy and silent.
As they left the courthouse, Su Rui saw her eldest uncle Ye Chengnan, who had run away from home because of his sexual orientation, walking towards them. He nodded at Su Xuan and then pushed Uncle Ye Huaitian away, with Ye Chengbei following behind. They didn't go back home but instead went to the airport where there was a flight to Italy. Su Rui's grandmother was waiting for them there, perhaps they would never come back again.
Thus ended the two-year-long Wu, Su and Ye families' entanglement of love and resentment.
A strong gust of wind blew again, and Su Rui knew she had to leave once more. When she opened her eyes again, Su Rui found herself in a cemetery, with the tombstone of her grandfather, Su Bingzhi, in front of her. To the left was Su Rui, and to the right was her great-uncle Ye Tianqin. Beside Su Rui stood her elder brother, Su Yun. Next to him stood a figure clad in black, Su Song, who was recounting the events that had transpired over the past two years, telling her grandfather that his great revenge had been avenged.
The cemetery was quiet, with only the distant cicada chirping and the soft rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze. Su Rui looked at her grandfather's and great-grandfather's tombstones. She smiled calmly, making a vow to herself that if she had another life, she would love her family well and never let them down.
Gradually, Su Rui became more and more transparent, until she finally dispersed into the universe.
In the classroom of Qingmu Middle School in Wushi City, a girl who was lying on her desk slowly lifted her head. When she saw the simple classroom with sleepy eyes, she widened her eyes in surprise...
