Chapter 6: The Mysterious Phone Call
Shu Xiao Ai turned off her phone with a flick of her wrist and immediately removed the battery.
It's still overtime.
It wasn't until all the work was done that Shu Xiaoxiao looked at the time on her computer and found it was already 10 o'clock.
She stretched her waist, turned off the computer, and just stood up when her phone rang again.
She stared at her phone, tense all over, the battery was on the side, had been removed, how... could it still ring?
Shu Xiao Ai picked up her phone, the screen kept flashing with incoming calls, but there was no number or note. She stood there in a daze, and suddenly two years ago's events flashed through her mind.
Dad and mom got divorced, mom packed up her clothes and got in the car. Without even looking at her, she left. She kept pulling on the car window, not letting her mother leave.
But the mother didn't care about her on the bus, and as it sped up, she was thrown far away, causing her to hit her head hard on the ground when she let go, and fainted on the spot.
When she woke up again, she was already in the hospital. On the first night in the hospital, when it was deep and quiet, she could always hear the sound of footsteps coming and going in the corridor. When she got out of bed to open the door and check, the ghostly figures that couldn't be seen clearly were floating everywhere.
She vaguely remembered that she was so scared at the time that her legs went soft, and she ran to the bed, covering herself with a quilt and shivering for a long time. It was then that she first realized she had ghost eyes.
Shu Xiao Ai didn't dare to stay here for long, she grabbed her phone battery and turned off the office lights, lowering her head, not daring to look around. The eerie heavy breathing sound kept coming from her ears, these few minutes were particularly unbearable for her. Her phone was still ringing until she left the office building, only then did the ringtone stop suddenly.
She finally let out a sigh of relief.
Whether at home or at her mother-in-law's house, for the past two years, she has not gone out after 6 pm. Since getting married, she has chosen not to work, which is not only because of her mother-in-law's rules but also because she always sees unclean things at night.
Although she had seen it many times, Shu Xiao Ai still felt scared in her heart.
After returning home, Shu Xiao Ai discovered that her husband Qin Zi Zhen was actually at home.
"Qin Zizhen, what were you doing at the seven-star hotel last night?"
"Of course he went to discuss official business."
"Going on a business trip with a woman wearing a super short skirt? If you're going to cheat, just cheat, don't come up with such a lowly excuse."
Qin Zizhen glanced at her with a look of impatience, "Do you have any evidence?"
Shu Xiao Ai said firmly, "When you two were opening the door/room, I was standing behind you and saw the room number."
"Now that you've seen our room number, why didn't you catch us on the spot?" Qin Zizhen said calmly.
"Do you think I don't want to? The room number I only saw was 18X1."
"Xiao Ai, having evidence of infidelity is one thing, but even if two people enter a hotel together, it doesn't necessarily prove anything. Although your father said that you need to have evidence of each other's infidelity in order to divorce, you can't just randomly accuse our Zhen Zhen of things."
Shu Xiao Ai was left speechless.
She couldn't say anything and went upstairs.
In the morning, just after arriving at the company, Director Liu announced that a staff meeting would be held in the conference room at 9 o'clock.
At nine o'clock, all formal employees of the Zhong family arrived at the conference hall.
The staff from various departments all arrived, and Shu Xiao Ai's seat was absolutely in the farthest corner at the back. She took out a book, thinking that meetings were usually meaningless, so she could read instead.
The conference room was soon filled with people.
Zhong Yuchen walked in and immediately spotted Shu Xiaoyi.
