Prologue - Unworthy [1]

  "Ruined"

  "Disgraceful"

  "Crippled"

Those were all words I have heard countless times throughout my life.

Being born into the Sanshin Household, there was a constant pressure around me to uphold the family name. My father and his forefathers all held high positions in the realm of magic; and it was expected that I, the eldest son, was to become a major powerhouse like them.

What didn't help was the fact I had a special constitution unlike any other. "A talent born once a century" was what I was referred to. I was praised to be a blessing bestowed by the gods.

If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

However, that all changed the day before my seventh birthday.

My father gifted me a manual containing the basics of internal mana channeling as an early present. He gave it to me in hopes I could blossom as a prodigy to match my unparalleled constitution.

That would be the biggest mistake he has ever made…

You see, it is foolish to think that a manual for the basics of internal mana channeling would work for someone blessed with a mana core like mine. Yet my father, his judgment blinded by expectations, gifted it to me anyway. And I, ignorant of the ways of magic, treasured this gift despite it being a poison to me.

I ended up overloading my mana channels with the sheer quantity of mana I siphoned through them. This resulted in my internal channels combusting and thus incapacitating them.

And the blame was pitted onto me. My fault. Not my father’s, not the author of the manual, but MINE.

That day I realized the cruelty of the world.
