Chapter 39: Corpse Impersonation?

  Chapter 39: Fake Death?

The stone gate slowly opened, and a musty, turbid air drifted out from inside the stone gate.

"Did the stone gate open?" Lin San was stunned, earlier he had used all his strength to try and open it but failed, now it automatically opened, which made Lin San somewhat suspicious.

Gujalan took a glance at the sharp object he had just pulled out of his hand and suddenly felt enlightened: "So this thing is actually the mechanism to open the stone gate."

Lin San cautiously walked up to the stone gate and peeked inside.

"What's inside?" Gu Jialan asked curiously.

Lin San shook his head: "It's too dark, nothing can be seen clearly, vaguely it is a passage."

"Now that the stone gate is open, let's go in." Gu Jialan really didn't want to stay in the stone room anymore and wanted to return to the surface as soon as possible.

Lin nodded three times: "You follow behind." After finishing speaking, he lit a lighter and stepped into the stone gate.

  Gujral was closely following behind.

Inside the stone gate, it was indeed a narrow passage. The ground was rugged and uneven, with water droplets constantly falling from above, making the entire passageway extremely humid and the air somewhat pungent and irritating to the nose.

Lin San and Gu Jialan walked for about a hundred meters, turned a corner, and at the end appeared an open stone gate.

"Huh? This stone gate is open?" Gu Jialan was somewhat surprised.

"You wait here, I'll go take a look." For safety's sake, Lin San left Gu Jialan in place and slowly approached the open stone gate with a lighter, cautiously looking inside: "Ah!!" Lin San suddenly exclaimed, the lighter slipping from his hand and falling to the ground, extinguishing the flame. The passageway was immediately enveloped in darkness.

"Lin San!" Gu Jialan was startled by the sudden darkness and shouted out Lin San's name.

"Pffft!" A faint flame ignited, Lin San held the lighter and slowly walked back to Gu Jialan's side.

"What just happened?" Lin San asked, seeing Gu Jialan return safely.

At this time, Lin San's face was somewhat pale, a layer of cold sweat appeared on his forehead, and the hand holding the lighter was also slightly trembling.

"Lin San, what's wrong?" Gu Jialan noticed that Lin San was a bit off.

Lin San took a deep breath, looked at Gu Jialan, and didn't say anything.

Gujalan was confused by Lin San, stretched out his hand to grab Lin San's arm: "Lin San, what's wrong with you? Are you uncomfortable?"

Lin San pinched his mouth: "I was scared to death just now..."

"What? What did you just see?" Gu Jialan asked hastily.

Lin San swallowed hard and said with difficulty: "Coffins... so many coffins..."

Gujialan was taken aback: "A coffin? What coffin?"

  "Inside... are lined up... coffins..."

"You didn't see wrong?" Gu Jialan's face changed slightly.

Lin San shook his head and didn't speak, the scene he had just seen had scared him out of his wits. Earlier, Lin San had held up a lighter to illuminate the stone gate, only to see that it was filled with coffins, all made of stone, in an enclosed underground chamber. Suddenly seeing so many coffins would be enough to scare anyone half to death.

Gujalan glanced at Shimmen and frowned: "Lin San, what should we do now?"

  "I don't know either..."

Gujalan fell silent for a moment, then suddenly lifted his foot and walked towards the stone gate.

Lin San was shocked and hastily reached out to grab Gu Jialan: "There are many coffins inside, don't go in..."

"Is there anything we can do now?" Gu Jialan turned her head and looked at Lin San.

Lin San was stumped, Gu Jialan was right, now they really had no choice, if they wanted to return to the ground, they could only enter the stone gate, otherwise they would starve to death in this passage.

"We've wasted a lot of time already, we must find a way out as soon as possible." Gu Jialan looked at Lin San and said softly.

Lin San nodded: "You're right." After finishing, Lin San took a deep breath and pulled Gu Jialan's hand to slowly walk to the stone gate. Lin San turned his head to look at Gu Jialan: "You'd better be mentally prepared."

Gujalan smiled: "Don't worry, I'm still quite brave."

Lin San nodded slightly and led Gu Jialan into the stone gate.

"Ah!" Gu Jialan was mentally prepared, but when he suddenly saw many stone coffins, he couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.

Lin San appeared to be calm, but in fact it was also pretended. Lin San's heart was extremely nervous.

After a while, Gu Jialan's emotions stabilized slightly, and she grasped Lin San's arm tightly with both hands, her lips trembling as she said: "Why are there so many coffins here?"

Lin San didn't know how to respond to Gu Jialan, Lin San held up the lighter and shone it around: "Huh? There's actually a human statue here too." As he spoke, Lin San walked over to a corner.

In the corner is placed a human figure sculpture, and outside the stone chamber, all are women wearing Qin Dynasty costumes, with a woman holding a stone tray full of lamp oil.

Lin San lit the lamp oil in the stone tray with a lighter.

As the lamp oil on the stone plate was ignited, the surroundings became much brighter.

Lin San and Gu Jialan found a few more statues from other places, and at the same time lit the oil stone plates in the hands of the statues. The hall suddenly became bright.

Lin San raised his head and looked around, discovering that this was a very large stone chamber. In the center of the chamber were placed numerous stone coffins, roughly numbering over a hundred. The entire chamber gave Lin San a somewhat eerie feeling.

"There's a memorial tablet over there." Gu Jialan suddenly pointed across and said.

Lin San looked up and found that not far away, a stone table was placed in front of him. On the stone table, there was a stone-made memorial tablet, on which some words seemed to be faintly engraved.

"Let's go and take a look." At this time, Gu Jialan's curiosity was attracted again.

Lin San followed Gu Jialan to the front of the memorial archway and looked at it carefully for a few moments, after which their expressions became somewhat strange.

"Why is there only one word carved on this tombstone?" Gu Jialan said in puzzlement.

Lin San stared at the only large character on the memorial tablet, his eyes filled with horror: "How... I feel a kind of chill from this memorial tablet... no, it should be killing intent, yes, that's it."

"Killing intent? I didn't feel anything." Gu Jialan looked carefully at the memorial tablet, but didn't sense any killing intent; everything seemed normal.

Lin San's mouth opened wide, just as he was about to speak, the stone table suddenly split in two with a loud "crack", and the memorial tablet fell heavily to the ground, emitting a dull thud.

"What's going on? How did the stone table suddenly crack?" Gu Jialan was startled.

"Bang bang bang......" A burst of noise came from one side.

Lin San hastily turned around and looked in the direction of the sound, only to see that the lid of a stone coffin was shaking non-stop, as if something was about to burst out from inside.

"Lin... San, how... the stone coffin is shaking..." Gu Jialan's face suddenly turned pale, and her body began to shake involuntarily.

Lin San was also scared, pulling Gu Jialan to slowly retreat backwards, his eyes fixed on the trembling stone coffin, his heart in his throat.

"It can't be... a fake resurrection or something..." Gu Jialan's words were somewhat incoherent.

Lin San actually thought so too, in a closed stone room, a stone coffin suddenly shook, it must be a fake resurrection, but Lin San was a little puzzled, he and Gu Jialan had not touched the stone coffin at all, nor had they touched anything else, how did the stone coffin shake by itself? Was it because of the plaque problem just now?

Just as Lin San was puzzled, a strange change occurred.

"Bang!" A loud noise, the stone coffin lid suddenly flew up, hit the top of the stone chamber, and then smashed to the ground into countless pieces. A white smoke slowly emerged from the stone coffin.

The moment the stone coffin lid flew up, Lin San and Gu Jialan's eyes were wide with fear, cold sweat slowly flowing down their foreheads.

A faint rustling sound came from inside the stone coffin, followed by a large snake slowly crawling out of it.

"Snake!" Gu Jialan cried out in alarm.

Lin San didn't expect that inside the stone coffin was a huge snake, its body as thick as a bowl, with a giant tumor on its head and two small eyes emitting green light, staring coldly at Lin San and Gu Jialan.

"Run quickly!" Lin San reacted and pulled Gu Jialan towards the stone gate.

"Whoosh!" With a swift movement, the big snake slithered over and with a flick of its tail, it struck Lin San's back.

"Ah!" Lin San let out a loud cry, his body flying up more than a meter high, heavily crashing into the wall beside him, and then sliding to the ground, not getting up for half a day.

"Lin San!" Gu Jialan exclaimed in surprise and hastily ran towards Lin San.

"Don't come over, run away quickly!" Lin San struggled to lift his head and shouted at Gu Jialan who was running towards him.

"No way, I won't abandon you." Gu Jialan directly ran over to Lin San.

"Hiss!" The big snake opened its huge mouth and pounced on Gu Jialan.

"Don't!" Lin San's eyes suddenly widened, and he didn't know where the strength came from to crawl up from the ground, let out a loud roar and pounced forward, stretching out his hand to grab the big snake's tail, refusing to let it harm Gu Jialan.

Lin San's wish came true, and the big snake really didn't attack Gu Jialan again. Instead, it turned its head around and bit towards Lin San.

"Damn it!" Lin San cursed and let go of the big snake's tail, turning his head and running away.

Gǔ Jiālán's face turned deathly pale as she stood frozen in place, the scene of the giant snake pouncing on her earlier having thoroughly traumatized her.

"Miss Gu, what are you standing there for? Run quickly!" Lin San suddenly became anxious when he saw Gu Jialan standing foolishly in place.

"Ah!" Gu Jialan came back to her senses and looked at Lin San, who was dodging the snake's attacks non-stop. A hint of hesitation appeared in her eyes.

"Miss Gu, you run first, I'll follow and find you!" Lin San shouted loudly.

Gǔ Jiālán hesitated for a moment, then Lin Sān shouted: "Alright, I'll wait for you outside!" After finishing speaking, Gǔ Jiālán turned around and ran out of the stone room, arriving at the passageway outside.

Inside the stone chamber, the sound of movement shook the heavens, and from time to time, a burst of deafening thunder would come.

Gujalan stood in the dark corridor, anxiously looking at the stone gate, hoping that Lin San would hurry up and come out to meet her.

Lin San wanted to run out of the stone room to find Gu Jialan, but the big snake chased him so crazily that Lin San didn't even have a chance to escape.

"Boom!" With a loud noise, one side of the stone room's wall was violently knocked down by a huge snake, revealing a massive hole. A gust of cold wind blew in from the opening.

"Ah!" Lin San Yi wasn't paying attention and bumped into a stone coffin. His body tilted to one side, and he fell to the ground.

"Hiss!" The big snake quickly slithered over and tightly wrapped its body around Lin San.
