Chapter 19 Scene 1
Jin Hu thought it was an underground fighting arena, but when he arrived, he was greatly disappointed. It was a suburban abandoned factory building. Outside, there were dozens of cars parked, as well as many Harley-Davidson motorcycles. It seemed that there were many people inside. Even though Jin Hu had never been to the US before, he knew that this kind of thing was illegal. Yet, outside, there wasn't even a guard or a barricade, which showed just how irregular this whole operation was.
Niel stopped the car and pointed at the factory building: "We're here."
Jin Hu looked at the factory buildings outside the car and smiled, pushing open the door to get out. He thought to himself that as a street urchin, he would never have had the chance to enter a real underground fighting arena, and he was just overthinking things.
"Brian! Leave the gun in the car, no one's allowed to bring that stuff inside!" Neil said from inside the car to Jinhu.
Jintiger walked back to the car window and put the two guns on his body back into the car.
Followed Neil to the door, finally met a doorman who looked at Neil and said: "Neil! Where did you swindle someone's money again? Come here to have some fun?"
"Today I've brought a friend along, and who knows, he might even join in on the fun," Neil said with a pat on Shinji's shoulder.
The big man took a glance at Jin Hu, smiled and said to Neil: "His physique is not bad, but he has to go down." He shrugged his shoulders: "I don't think highly of him. If he goes down, remember to call me to buy him." The big man said, using a plastic strip to scan himself and Neil's body, making a gesture indicating that the two of them were going in.
Nier nodded along with Da Han and led Jin Hu inside.
Outside, you could hear the commotion inside. Once inside, it was even more chaotic, with the noise piercing one's eardrums. In the middle of the factory, there was a platform over a meter high, surrounded by about ten simple iron frame bleachers. The platform was packed with people, and some were standing beside it, shouting at the two people on the platform: "Kuri! Take him down! One more punch! He'll fall!"
Away from the counter, there was a simple bar with female waitresses. Jin Hu took one look and his stomach turned over. Each of their hairstyles was peculiar, and the exposed parts of their bodies were all covered in colorful tattoos. One of them even had a stud on her mouth.
"Wait a moment," Neil said close to Jinhu's ear and then walked towards one side of the stage.
Jin Hu shifted his gaze to the two people fighting on the table, a white man and a black man. Neither of them had any protective gear, only bandages wrapped around their hands and forearms. The bandages on both men's hands were now stained with blood. The young white man's eye was already swollen shut, with a wound at the corner of his eyebrow bleeding profusely. The black man's movements seemed heavier, but he still had some strength left in him. Jin Hu estimated that it would take at least five or six minutes for either of them to emerge victorious.
"Here!" Just as Jin Hu was looking on, Neil handed over a red cup of beer: "What do you think? Can we beat them?"
"Let's take a look first!" Jin Hu picked up the beer and took a sip. The level of these two people in this field, even if they were to work together now, wouldn't be enough for him to solve within five seconds. At most, they had received some boxing training, while he was trained in military combat skills, and that of a future army.
"Then who do you think will win?" Neil asked Jinhu.
Jin Hu thought for a moment: "Hard to say!" The black man saw that the disadvantage was not hopeless, and if he could hit the opponent's weakness, there was still hope of winning. In short, the situation on the field was unclear.
"How much money can be made from a fight?" Jin Hu turned his head and asked Neil. He is currently short of money, and this easy-to-earn money is not earned, what else to wait for?
"We win a thousand yuan, but if we lose, there's no money. Moreover, the organizer will take away ten percent." Neil replied to Jin Hu's words.
Jin Hu looked at Neil and asked: "How do you charge for your expenses?"
Thirty percent.
"Too expensive, 5% off".
"Five percent is too little, I can only get 45 yuan if you win a game?! Twenty percent!!"
"Ten! Do it or not, up to you."
Niel thought for a moment before finally saying: "Alright! Considering our first business deal, I agree. Are you ready to go down?"
"Isn't there a higher-level match somewhere?" Jin Hu didn't really want to waste his time fighting people of the same level as those two.
"Ah!" Neil said with a pleased smile, "I think you should challenge someone of a higher level." He pointed to a large South American man standing next to the ring: "That's Ipatov, beating him is worth $3,000. The one next to him is Lautrenso, beating him can get you $5,000."
"Can I place a bet on myself?"
"Sure thing! At least twenty bucks," Neil said.
"Help me arrange it! A match against that Three Thousand, and also help me place two bets for me to win!" Jin Hu said, looking at the two people on stage. Jin Hu decided to test the waters first, as some things were hard to say, in case he won too much again and wasn't allowed to take it away, it would be troublesome. Looking at Neil who didn't even move after hearing his words: "What's wrong, can't do that?"
"No! You have to win against someone else first before you can challenge them," Neil said to Jinhu.
Jin Hu nodded after listening: "Then arrange it for me." After finishing speaking, he turned his gaze back to the field. The two people in the field had already decided the outcome, and the black youth ultimately did not stage a comeback as Jin Hu had expected, but was knocked down on the platform by the white young man.
As soon as the result came out, Jin Hu heard cheers and curses in the field, a mess.
The two people on the stage were helped down, and another two people went up onto the stage. A fat man also followed them up onto the stage, saying a few words to the people below. The scene was too noisy, and Jin Hu couldn't quite make out what he said. After the fat man finished speaking, the two people on the stage moved around a bit before starting to fight.
"Alright, next time it's your turn. If you can win easily, then today or next time we start the game, you can challenge Yipatou."
Jin Hu nodded and began to think, his mind wasn't on the scene, but rather in his brain, thinking about how to win just right. Directly knocking someone down was too easy for Jin Hu, but that would be a bit too shocking. This wasn't his own warship, so he shouldn't get too reckless, it's better to be careful.
Just pretending to watch the game while quickly thinking in his mind.
"What's wrong?" Jin Hu felt Neil push him and turned his head to ask.
Niel gave Jinhu a glance: "Bryan! It's your turn now".
"Oh!" Jin Hu only then realized that many people were staring at him, took off his jacket, and pushed through the crowd to get on stage.
Fatso waited for Jinhu to get on stage, then started saying: "Today we have a new person on stage" and pointed at Jinhu with his hand. "Asian kid! Brian". After introducing Jinhu, there was not a single applause from the audience below, but instead a few boos. There were also a few people shouting from below: "Charles, take down this Asian kid!".
"Here's our three-time winner, English gentleman, Charles!" The crowd below cheered as Jin Hu's opponent waved his fist in excitement, and Jin Hu couldn't help but shake his head inwardly. In this broken arena, you're really getting into it, just like the real thing! At first glance, I thought you were a boxing champion or something!
After the introduction was over, Jin Hu returned to the side of the stage. Neil somehow found two strips of gauze and came over to help Jin Hu bandage his hands.
After wrapping it up, Jin Hu stretched his chest and swung his fists up and down twice, exercising his joints before standing on the stage.
As the fat man jumped off the stage, the match officially began. The opponent moved lightly with his feet and held his hands in front of his chest, jumping up and down in front of Jin Hu, looking like a ** in Jin Hu's eyes. If he hadn't wanted to keep a low profile, he would have rushed out with one punch and knocked him out.
The "frog" in front of him jumped back and forth for four or five seconds before starting to punch Jin Hu. Jin Hu lightly blocked two punches with his palm, feeling the frog's strength, then took two more punches head-on, retreating one or two steps in coordination with his footwork.
For five or six minutes, Jin Hu accompanied 'Qingwa' to play, and the two of them came back and forth with a punch each, making some small excitement. The audience below was very enthusiastic, from time to time shouting "Add oil" to 'Qingwa'.
The frog jumped more happily, and with a burst of confidence, he leaned in close to Jinhu's combination punch. He came at Jinhu with his left fist aimed at Jinhu's right cheek, and his right fist ready to deliver a standard hook to Jinhu's chin.
Jin Hu dodged the "frog's" two punches with a light slide, deciding to end his performance. He used 30% of his strength to punch the frog's abdomen with his right fist, lightly lifting his body. Another punch landed on the frog's cheek, and Jin Hu's world cleared up instantly. The brainless frog was no longer jumping around, and now it had transformed into a small lobster, curled up and lying on the table.
"Yes! Yes!" Neil shouted loudly, clenching his fists below. Watching Jinhu walk down from the stage, he immediately came over and hugged Jinhu, saying loudly: "Well done, buddy!"
"Is there a next match?" Jin Hu asked with a smile while unwinding the gauze on his hand.
Niel said happily: "Of course!"
Taking the jacket from Neil's hand and putting it on, Jinhu continued to watch the next match. Neil went to get the money with a happy heart.
"This is yours" Jin Hu saw Neil hand over a dozen green bills, took a look and put them in his pocket: "You've made quite a bit" Jin Hu said, looking at the stack of bills in Neil's hand.
"I've got a hundred dollars on you, five to one," Neil said with satisfaction.
"You actually have $100," Jin Hu said with a smile.
Niel explained in two sentences: "The relief money I just received, next game I'll put it all on!"
Jin Hu smiled after hearing that: "In the next round, I'll also hold back a hundred."
Niel looked at Jinhu and blinked his eyes, saying: "Bryan! You can't be like this! Don't you have any confidence?"
"I don't believe it," said Jin Hu.
Niel explained indifferently: "Don't worry, the boss here is very nice and he only takes a commission, betting has nothing to do with him".
Jin Hu smiled, what's the point of opening a fight that can't be won? These aren't just three or two small thugs, don't get yourself into trouble again and have to run away from Luoshan Island. After all, now warships can only help you quickly retreat, nothing else.
