Chapter 40: Moving Heart

  She gazed at him with a distant and vague affection.

  "He said: 'I have never seen you smile.'"

  He stared at her, wanting to see her smile?

  "Come on, smile." He didn't need her to be afraid of him, or to serve him with a trembling heart. He wanted to see her smile, genuinely and sincerely at him... Of course, if it was fake, that was okay too, pretending would do...

  Yan Qing looked at him and couldn't smile. She tried hard to pull up the corners of her mouth, but it ended up looking even uglier than crying.

  Mu Tianyang's hand trembled as he saw her, and he really wanted to slap her again. But... he couldn't bear to! He pushed her away and withdrew from her body.

  A faint whisper slipped from the desk to the ground.
