Chapter 23: White Lie

  Chapter 23: The White Lie

Xu Ke pulled at her hem and took a look, after all, she used to be a wealthy lady, the material was of high quality and could be felt at once.

  "Isn't it expensive?"

"Not...not expensive, right..." Wan Qing didn't know how to explain, and cold sweat poured down.

Xu Ke Wei looked at her and asked: "Did your dad buy it?"

She was taken aback for a moment, then suddenly remembered that she still had a father! She didn't know how to react and stiffly nodded: "Yeah, Dad bought it..." After saying that, she really wanted to cry. If her dad had already sold her off, why would he buy clothes for her?

Xu Ke Wei withdrew her hand, her face expressionless: "At least he's good to you."

"Mom..." Wan Qing didn't know how to comfort her.

Xu Ke Wei smiled and asked: "Do you often see each other now?"

Wan Qing shook her head: "No way. How could that mother and daughter possibly agree? They'd be overjoyed if we dropped dead."

Xu Kewe let out a cold snort, and suddenly felt a sharp pain in her ribs. Wanqing saw that her face had turned pale, and hastily said: "Mom! What's wrong? Don't be anxious, we won't think about them anymore!"

She hastily called the nurse over, and after a flurry of activity by the nurse and doctor, Xu Kewei was finally out of danger.

"Yanqiong suddenly burst into tears: 'It's all my fault, I shouldn't have caused mom so much heartache...'"

"It's okay. You don't cry, Mom won't be heartbroken." Xu Kewei said weakly.

"Okay, I won't cry!" Wanqing hastily wiped away her tears.

After resting for a while, Xu Ke Wei asked: "Are there any exams recently? How are the results?"

"It's pretty good, I've made progress," said Wanqing. "Last time I ranked seventh in the class and already entered the top 100 in the grade. I think it's definitely possible to get into a good university."

Xu Kewe listened to her words and finally got comforted, feeling happy.

Actually, Wanqing's usual grades are around 10th in the class. Now that she hasn't studied for several months, if she takes the exam again, she'll probably fall out of the top 20, or maybe even further. But at this time, in order to comfort Xu Kewei, she had no choice. At worst, after a few days of review, she would work overtime to make up for what she missed before!

The two of them chatted for over ten more minutes before a nurse walked in: "The patient needs to rest now."

She gazed at Xu Kewei with a reluctant expression: "Then I'll leave."

"Don't take leave again, come back when you're on holiday." Xu Kewei said.

Yan Qing nodded and checked the quilt she had covered before leaving the ward. As soon as she walked out of the ward, she saw Ah Cheng standing outside, and she was startled.

"Miss," Ah Cheng said in a low voice.

She looked into the ward, took a few steps forward, and asked with suppressed anger: "Did you ask the nurse to come in?" How could he disturb her reunion with her mother? It was too much!

A Cheng seemed to know what she was thinking and said: "The general manager has called to urge, miss, don't forget the main thing, go and exchange the medicine first."

  What's going on?

Changing the dressing is the main thing, her mom just came along for the ride.
