Three Burst Shots

Chapter 49: Three Shots in Succession

The establishment of the film company was a well-thought-out decision by Yi Feiyang, as through the release of "Blair Witch", Yi Feiyang saw the gap between himself and Hollywood.

It can be said that this gap is not a chasm, but a sky-high moat!

No company, no right to speak.

No company, you can't shoot as you like.

Without a company, you can't really enter this fertile land of Hollywood and can't truly march into the North American market.

It can be said that Yi Feiyang urgently needs a company to create his own golden signboard.

But setting up a company is not child's play, it can't be done overnight. It requires financial resources, material resources, and human resources.

But the most important thing is the company's location!

A clever Jew once said, "The golden location of business creates a fortune of billions, so the secret to doing business lies in the location, still the location!"

If Yifei Yang had money and a large asset base, he could set up his own company on Sunset Boulevard or in the well-trafficked areas around Hollywood, like Lionsgate, steadily and slowly developing to eventually dominate the entertainment circle.

But Yifei Yang is poor, at present, the most suitable place to set up a company is Chinatown.

Firstly, Chinatown is the place where most Chinese Americans gather. As a Chinese person, we share the same blood and at least can help each other out. Chinese people helping Chinese people still have some familial affection.

Secondly, Chinatown is the territory of the camel's hoof, and I am the master of my own domain. Since Yi Feiyang has established a friendly cooperative relationship with the camel's hoof, it would be best to develop his film power here. At least it can avoid many unnecessary disturbances.

Third, American film companies can't afford to be hurt, especially those small film companies that go bankrupt every year for unknown reasons. The reason is either poor management or insufficient capital, or they are threatened by the black mafia. Don't think America is harmonious, the underworld here has long been civilized. But as the saying goes, thugs are not scary, what's scary is when thugs have culture!

Fourth, Chinatown has a rich film resource, many American Hollywood blockbusters like to shoot here, such as the future super blockbuster "Iron Man" and the sci-fi blockbuster "Men in Black", which all have scenes of Chinatown. If we set up our company here, it's also a unique advantage in some way.

Fifth, Yi Feiyang has calculated very carefully that the company's settlement in Chinatown is only temporary and can be said to be establishing its own base during the development period. When it becomes powerful in the future, the company will move out of Chinatown and face the whole United States.

Sixth, a more practical and economic issue is that the housing prices in Chinatown are relatively lower compared to other areas of Los Angeles. Most importantly, Easy Inn urgently needs a stable base rather than constantly changing locations, so Chinatown has the advantage of being cheap and beautiful.

Lastly, also a very personal reason, Yi Feiyang is not used to eating Western food, can't eat sandwiches, ham, chicken wings, McDonald's... He likes to eat Chinese food, and Chinatown has many authentic Chinese restaurants, this point is very important!

In conclusion, Yi Feiyang's decision to set up his first film company in Chinatown was a well-considered one, not an impulsive move.

But Tuo Ye only had applause for Yi Fei Yang's plan. Not to mention anything else, just Yi Fei Yang's mysterious ability to attract gold made Tuo Ye look up to him in admiration. Now that he was saying he wanted to set up a company on his own turf, what did that mean? It meant that he looked down on himself and wanted to do something together.

Camel's old man, his heart is still young and always wants to live a life with his head held high. Unfortunately, what he has been doing all along are some shady "businesses" that can't be exposed to the light of day. Now that he finally has the chance to "whitewash" himself, how could he possibly let it slip away?!

So after Yi Feiyang made the proposal, Camel's father patted his own bony chest and guaranteed, "Don't worry, Yangzi, I'll take care of the company matters. I'll definitely help you find a place with excellent feng shui and overflowing wealth!"

Yi Feiyang still trusted Lao San to handle things, as the saying goes: "As people get older, they become more refined and considerate; ghosts also become more cunning with age."

Anyway, the matter of setting up a film company has been decided, and next Yifei Yang will have to consider his new film plan.

It goes without saying that Yi Feiyang also knew that the reason why Shimen Film was rushing to shoot the sequel of "Blair Witch" was to aim at Halloween, which is only a month away!

It's early October, and with Halloween just a month away, many film studios, including Lionsgate, are preparing to cash in on the holiday at the box office.

Halloween is a famous ghost festival in the Western world, and during this period, horror movies, thriller movies, and thrilling B-movies are all released. Famous ones like "Halloween", "Trick 'r Treat" and "Poltergeist" all choose to be shown during this time.

As long as your horror movie is thrilling and stimulating enough to match the eerie atmosphere of Halloween, it will definitely be a box office hit.

Since everyone has gathered in this period to film a horror movie, I might as well join in on the fun.

With a plan in place, what Yi Feiyang needs to do next is... create a script!

He originally intended to shoot "Body Bags", "Riding the Bullet" and "1408" in succession, but due to time constraints, insufficient funding, and these three films not being a match for "The Witch".

He had about 300,000 yuan left and wanted to start a company, which would cost a lot of money whether renting or buying. Yifei Yang considered that it's best to invest in some low-cost classic films first.

After a quick scan in my mind, I easily recalled three good movies. One was the horror movie "The Terror of Oil Tanker" which got four-star reviews on Rotten Tomatoes in the US. Another one was the thriller "Buried Alive" that was nominated at an international film festival. Besides these two, there's also a thriller like "The Blair Witch Project", with good box office and word-of-mouth, called "Paranormal Activity".

The cost of these three plays is not high. The scenes are also relatively simple, one on a cruise ship, one in a coffin, and the other in a room. If you don't count the actors' salaries, the investment for these three plays can be settled with just over a million yuan. This kind of cost-saving method is the best choice for Yi Feiyang, who is currently struggling with tight funds.

"Horror Cruise" tells the story of a female protagonist and her friends, three men and three women, who charter a yacht called "Triangle Number" for a fun trip at sea. However, they soon encounter a strong storm that capsizes their boat, leaving them stranded in the water. After struggling to stay alive, they manage to climb onto the wreckage of their yacht. Just as they are at a loss for what to do, a massive cruise ship slowly approaches them. The group is overjoyed and boards the strange ship without hesitation, only to discover that it is a mysterious vessel that went missing in 1932, with no one on board. As they explore the ship, they find bloodstains everywhere, cryptic signs, and sudden violent murders, drawing them into a terrifying cycle of horror...

This film sparked a heated discussion after its release in North America, with many people expressing their views and opinions on the film, being hailed as one of the top 10 thrilling suspense films alongside "Mulholland Drive", "Memento" and "Shutter Island".

However, when it comes to box office, this film is a bit tragic. For some reason, this low-cost film with a budget of 1.2 million was only released in the UK, Belgium and New Zealand, and the total box office after release was approximately £550,000, equivalent to $880,000. However, if the Blu-ray DVD sales are included, it should still be profitable; otherwise, the company that made this film would really lose money.

"Buried" tells the story of a kidnapped contract truck driver, who wakes up to find himself buried alive in a coffin in the middle of the desert in the Middle East. He has only a lighter, a mobile phone, two glow sticks, a flashlight that flickers on and off, and a pen with him.

In this suffocating space, he must and can only rely on his strong desire for survival to seek help.

It can be said that this 90-minute film focuses all its attention on the narrow underground space, giving the male lead ample room to showcase his acting skills. The nearly solo performance is a great test of his acting abilities, and whether he can create a terrifying atmosphere to capture the audience's attention will be his top priority.

The lead actor in the previous life was Ryan Reynolds, who was a big hit in Hollywood and exploded in popularity in 2009 with "Adventureland" and "The Proposal", hoping to boost his career with "Buried". The film ultimately did not disappoint, achieving success at the box office and winning several awards, including Best Original Screenplay.

As for the cost and box office, the cost of "Buried" was $2 million, but most of it went to Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds' salary. The box office reached over $20 million, which is a small investment with big returns.

Finally, regarding the "Paranormal Activity" series, this series of films can be considered the master of "pseudo-documentary" in the American horror film genre, surpassing the "Blair Witch" series.

The first Paranormal Activity was made for a mere $15,000 and went on to gross over $193 million worldwide. The sequel, which followed quickly, also performed well around Halloween, earning an impressive $177 million worldwide on a budget of just $3 million. Paranormal Activity 3 continued the franchise's standard storyline but with a twist - a prequel that took place in 1988 and followed two sisters who encountered the entity. Paranormal Activity 4 refocused on Katie, now roaming with her nephew, and told the story of their neighbors' haunting, earning $134 million worldwide on a budget of just $5 million. For Paramount, the Paranormal Activity franchise is like Lionsgate's Saw - destined to keep going until audiences get tired of it.

According to Yifei Yang's plan, it is unnecessary to assemble a big star cast now, and filming these three plays is the best choice.

But which one of these three plays should I shoot?

Yi Fei Yang got a headache.

All three parts are great, and I don't want to give up any of them.

Finally, Yi Feiyang gritted his teeth and stamped his foot!

To hell with it, forget about it!

Three shots in a row, all open fire!

If people heard this, they would absolutely think he's a madman, a lunatic!

Three shots in a row, Hollywood has never dared to shout such a crazy remark!

You think it's that easy to shoot a movie? Three movies in one month and all of them have to be released on Halloween, is that possible?!

But for some people, the more impossible it is, the more challenging it becomes.

Talk is cheap, Yi Feiyang directly pulled over Fat Jack - Black, and said "Master will teach you another move", in fact it was to let Fat do a free gun.

Two people worked hard and started their difficult scriptwriting journey.
