Chapter 9: Industrial Light Magic (2)

Chapter 9: Industrial Light Magic (2)

East Coast of America, California State, San Francisco, Bank of America.

Robert Soros stopped in front of the Bank of America and hesitated, clearly wavering!

"Robert, are you coming in with us?" Jerry opened the door.

"Jerry, you go ahead and see Mrs. Tanaka if you have something to discuss! I'll wait for a bit, yeah, just smoke a cigarette first!"

You've got to be kidding! Jerry wanted to say that, but the words didn't make it out of his mouth. Some things needed him to think carefully about them himself.

"Alright then, let's go in first!"

"Jerry, is Mr. Robert okay?" Tanaka Nana looked at Robert who was hesitating outside the door with some concern, "Will he accept our invitation?"

"Don't worry! Chacha, he will agree!"

"Jerry is still so confident! However, I don't understand why you're so interested in him. Strictly speaking, you two are just strangers who have known each other for only three hours!"

Jerry shook his head, looked at Robert who was still wandering around, stretched out his hand and pointed to his temple, "There are many things in this world that can't be explained, maybe it's because of intuition! Believe me, Robert will make a great manager!"

"A man's intuition? Aren't you afraid he'll abscond with the money?"

"Scary! But I know he won't. Because he is George Soros's son!"

"I still think you're being a bit too rash! I hope you're right, Jerry!"

Jerry patted Cai Cai's hand with his hand, indicating that he should be at ease!

Tanaka Nana looked at him, slowly crouched down and helped Jerry tidy up his clothes. "Jerry, what are we doing at the Bank of America?"

  "Loan!"

  "Another loan?"

  "That's right, a $500 million loan!"

In Japan, it's easy to get a loan of 200 billion yen because the shares of Shonen Jump are used as collateral. Now, at Bank of America, Tanaka Nana seems skeptical that Jerry can get a $500 million loan from Bank of America!

"Is Jerry going to mortgage 19% of Microsoft's shares?"

"Not a single mistake! Just yesterday, Microsoft's stock price on NASDAQ rose to $90! A total of 31 million shares were issued in the IPO, accounting for 11% of Microsoft's shares, so now Microsoft's market value exceeds $2.5 billion. The 19% stake we hold is worth over $470 million!"

"Perhaps we should inform Mr. Gates and Mr. Allen, after all they are the two major shareholders of Microsoft, according to the principle of priority..."

"I think that's not necessary! We're just using it as collateral, not selling equity. Do you think 19% equity can be mortgaged for $500 million from those two guys?"

  Tanaka Nana shook her head.

Indeed, Windows 1.0 didn't make much money for Microsoft at all, and R&D requires spending! Microsoft's IPO only raised $61 million in funding from NASDAQ. From March 1986 to June 1987, it's strange that Microsoft could come up with $500 million in funds within a year or so!

"As a courtesy, I will inform those two guys, but that has to be after the loan is completed!"

The loan went through smoothly, and Jerry and Tina walked out of the Bank of America as Robert Soros had already calmed down!

  "Have you decided?"

  "It's settled!"

Even Robert Soros himself didn't know that a 3-hour brief encounter would make him believe in this seven-year-old kid!

Maybe some things are just inexplicable!

  "Great!"

George Lucas and Steven Spielberg met Jerry on the fifth day after he left Seattle. One reason was that the Amtrak train was delayed on the way, which is nothing unusual, as American trains are often late, delayed, or postponed. So, the only requirement for taking a train in America is not to be in a hurry! Another reason, after Robert Soros made up his mind, Jerry took him directly to the West Coast of the United States, registered an investment company called JR on Wall Street, and invested all $500 million borrowed into the New York stock market! These two decisive and swift actions left Robert Soros stunned!

"He must be a dwarf! He must be a dwarf!"

Robert Soros has been hypnotizing himself like this! Because he knows that if he doesn't do so, he's afraid he'll go crazy!

A seven-year-old child throws away a gold bar as if it were trash!

It was Jerry's trash-like behavior that triggered a chain reaction in the New York stock market, with the Dow Jones index soaring over 100 points within 5 hours, and by the end of trading, the gain had reached 6.7%.

But Jerry told Robert Soros very irresponsibly, "You see, operating in the stock market, I'm simply a low-energy person! So, I need your help! Within two months, build a professional trading team, with an annual salary of 30-100W! Let me see what you can do, and hope you live up to the $100W annual salary!"

Robert Soros, still reeling from the shock, was dragged by Jerry to Los Angeles with his daughter!

"Mr. Lucas, is this the result of one month's work by Industrial Light & Magic?"

  "Of course!"

"Who can tell me, is this a turkey or a velociraptor! The paws don't look like paws, the skin doesn't look like skin, what are those dead white balls? Dead fish eyes? Mr. Lucas, where's your 'second-hand future'? Can't you make a velociraptor except for Star Wars? Can only make colored glass people? Too bad!"

"Are you kidding me? Do you know what you're saying? You're negating a whole month's worth of our efforts with just one sentence!"

"No, Mr. Lucas, you don't understand what I mean! What I mean is that this result is really too damn bad! Didn't Stephen tell you about the interaction between simulation and computer?"

Being scolded by a little guy like this, George Lucas's face was quite ugly! Although he thought the velociraptor looked really bad, it was already the best effect that current digital synthesis could achieve! Damn Steven! But the little guy's words behind him sparked his interest.

"Simulation model and computer interaction combination?"

  "Damn it, Steven!"

"Hey Jerry, you just told me to hand the design over to George, but you never mentioned anything about a simulation model and computer combination! No way, I'm positive you didn't!"

"Alright, alright! I apologize! Maybe it's really my fault for forgetting! So, Mr. Lucas, this is just an idea of mine! We can actually take the simulated models that have already been made and input them into a computer as data, then use the computer to rebuild the simulated model based on that data. I think Industrial Light & Magic shouldn't have any problem with that, right?"

George Lucas thought for a moment, then suddenly realized, "You mean..."

"That's right, Mr. Lucas! In a quantifiable way, store the data of simulation models and then use computers to simulate them. That's my idea about digital simulation! The benefit of doing so is that as long as the quantified data exists, digitally synthesized objects are no longer disposable. We can retrieve this data at any time and reuse it, whether it's for reconstruction or secondary creation based on the original, both will become very simple! Of course, the only problem is that you need to prepare a slightly larger storage device because these data will grow like a snowball, becoming more and more enormous!"

"Isn't this exactly what we've been doing all along! Oh no, not again, God, quantization! Stefan, did you hear that? He actually thought of quantized storage, it's absolutely marvelous! Tell me, Jerry, how on earth did you think of it?"

"This is actually a very coincidental thing. Has Mr. Lucas seen James Cameron's 'Aliens'? I, Natsuki and Bishoujo-san are all die-hard fans of 'Aliens'! I often wonder if Mr. Cameron has to remake an Alien every time he kills one off? What if there were too many NGs during filming? Would they continue remaking them? No, that would be far too costly! This made me think of computers... Ah, shut down and restart, great, the data is still there! And so, the idea of putting Aliens into a computer was born! ...With this idea, we can replace every part of each Alien's body and control every single movement! Just like cars, they're completely made up of parts, and can be completely disassembled into a pile of parts, while the steering wheel is always in our hands! All we need to do is manage and modify these parts!"

This is what they call speaking nonsense with one's eyes open!

George Lucas was thrilled and his whole body shook!

"George, can what Jerry said be realized?" Stephen was surprised at Jerry's idea, but he didn't understand the technology involved, so he couldn't feel the shock of it!

"In theory, there's no problem at all! He really is a genius!"

  "I've said this before!"

  "Yes, now I agree!"

"Alright, gentlemen, let me take a break, I just got off the plane!"

"Hey! Jerry, you can't do that! You can't just drop a bomb on us and then run away with your tail between your legs! That's not fair!" George Lucas complained bitterly!

"Of course I can, George! I'm still a kid, let's talk about it after I wake up!"

George Lucas and Steven Spielberg wanted to say something, but Tanaka Nanae stepped in front of Jerry, "Gentlemen, he's right, he's still a kid!"

No, no, he doesn't look like him at all!

George Lucas and Steven Spielberg may say so, but they know that in front of a child's mother, nothing is more important than the child's health!

Due to matters related to biomimetic digital synthesis technology, Jerry's return date to Japan has been postponed. Asahina Akane and Furukawa Ryūichirō are not suitable for the position of president, but fortunately, Shōnen IC now has Tanaka Rumi sitting in, so there is no problem for the time being. Speaking of which, Jerry's cheap grandmother is quite capable under her care, Shōnen IC is surprisingly well-organized. Although there are some important things that need to be handled by Tanaka Nana personally, Tanaka Nana still doesn't feel at ease leaving Jerry alone in America, so she stayed behind as well! As for Nakajō Hina, this model freak, it's already good enough that no one has to take care of her. Must she also take care of Jerry?
