Part 26 (Complete Rewrite Version)
It was night, and Weiwei was tossing and turning on her small wooden bed.
Her roommates had fallen asleep after the slumber party ended, but she couldn't sleep. But maybe it was normal not to be able to sleep after a day like today.
She turned over again, still unable to sleep, and sat up with a soft quilt, her chin resting on her knees, sighing. In fact, she was not worried or melancholic at all, but the emotions that filled her heart seemed to be expressed only through sighs.
It's as if I've let out a sigh of relief, and that thing stirring up my heart can be reduced a little.
Xiao Nai ah.
The image of that person appears in my mind, sometimes still, sometimes moving, sometimes speaking, sometimes smiling, and the thing I just let go of seems to have come back, filling me up again.
Hugging the quilt for a long time, Weiwei finally cultivated a little sleepiness, lay down and slept for a while, almost fell asleep when she vaguely heard some movement from the bed next door. Later, after falling asleep, she didn't know anything else until dawn when she was suddenly woken up by someone shaking her. Opening her eyes, she saw Er Xi standing beside her bed, weakly saying: "Weiwei, I've gone to the bathroom three times already, it's almost not working."
She was startled for a moment, then immediately woke up and hurriedly got out of bed to find her medicine. However, after taking it, it didn't work, and Er Xi had diarrhea twice more within half an hour, turning pale. Xiaoling and Sisi also heard the commotion and got up, feeling that something was wrong, they quickly put on their clothes and took Er Xi to see a doctor.
Given the school infirmary's notorious reputation, Weiwei and the others didn't dare to send Erxi there either. After exiting the west gate, they hailed a night taxi and sent her to a nearby large hospital. The doctor asked about the situation, did a small test, diagnosed it as acute gastroenteritis, and said she needed an IV drip.
Deng Er Xi fell asleep on the temporary bed after being given an injection, and only then did the three of them feel at ease. After discussing it, they decided that there was no need for all three to stay behind, so they let Xiao Ling return first, while Wei Wei and Si Si stayed behind to keep her company.
After Er Xi had an injection and diarrhea twice, she felt much better. Weiwei and Sisi finally had the energy to take a nap. However, they didn't sleep comfortably, and Weiwei woke up soon. Er Xi was also awake, looking a bit recovered. Weiwei glanced at her watch, it was already 7 o'clock.
Er Xi weakly said: "Wei Wei, didn't Xiao Da Shen buy that bag of snacks last night?"
Yes.
"Alas, divine things are indeed indigestible, it's not something a mortal like me can stomach."
It's already like this, and there's still time to joke around. I couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time. I got up to help her tidy up the quilt. Thinking of Er Xi mentioning Xiao Nai, my mind wandered again. It's 7 o'clock now, it should be time to call Da Shen and tell him not to wait for her anymore. For some reason, thinking that I don't have to go to self-study with Da Shen today, I feel a sense of relief in my heart.
Her mind was no longer in the ward, and her expression was a bit distracted. Er Xi half-reclined, looking at her daze, always knew she was slightly pretty, but after seeing her many times, she got used to it. But now, she suddenly helped her cover the quilt with a low head and gentle expression, her eyes were exceptionally bright and sparkling, really unprecedentedly good-looking.
The two people who had been sleeping at each station were silently lost in their own thoughts, when suddenly the light in the room dimmed slightly, and they instinctively looked up towards the door.
Xiao Nai stood at the door, his eyes deeply gazing at her.
On the way back to school, they took Xiao Nai's car. The car was a very ordinary and low-key brand. Xiao Nai sat in the passenger seat, while Er Xi, Si Si, and Xiao Ling sat in the backseat.
On the road, Er Xi heard Xiao Ling ask in a low voice: "How did Xiao Shixiong come?"
Xiao Ling whispered an explanation: "I called Da Zhong, and he blabbed it to Xiao Shixiong. Then Shixiong said he'd drive over, that it's more convenient."
Er Xi anxiously said: "I always feel that something is not quite right."
Xī Xī said: "You don't have to be embarrassed, Xiao Shīxiōng is one of us."
With a faint black line on her face, she listened to them in the deputy seat. Did they think their voices were very small? They actually talked nonsense so openly and shamelessly, even among themselves. They were too familiar with each other!
Er Xi still worried: "But, Dashen's car, we are just mortals..."
Just as she was about to say something that might get them into trouble, like "mortals shouldn't ride in the Great God's carriage", he hastily turned around and interrupted her: "Sisi is right, we're family after all!"
The car suddenly fell silent, and Weiwei only reacted to what he had said in his haste, and suddenly didn't even have the courage to turn around.
With a smile, she glanced at someone beside her who was trying to reduce their presence and said, "You haven't had breakfast yet, have you? Eat something before heading back?"
At this moment, she was extremely grateful to Da Shen. Da Shen actually helped her out of the predicament, it was really too considerate of him.
Xiaoling glanced at Weiwei and saw that she didn't intend to speak up, so she pushed the food towards her and said: "No need, we've already troubled Shixiong a lot today."
Xiao Nai smiled slightly and said, "We're all family here, no need to be polite."
"..."
She just knew that being considerate was just an illusion...
In the end, they still had breakfast. Er Xi's appetite wasn't good, but having an empty stomach was also uncomfortable. She forced down some plain porridge, and after finishing, Xiao Nai considerately sent them to the dormitory building.
She walked back to her dormitory with a pace that was even softer than Er Xi's, opened the door and went straight to bed.
If only time could flow backwards, she would absolutely not utter a word, silence is golden! Alas... I didn't know that lack of sleep had such a great impact on one's reaction.
She tossed and turned on the bed, feeling more anxious than last night, and after rolling around for a while, she unknowingly fell asleep.
I slept until 12 o'clock, and was woken up by the aroma of food. Xiaoling had already sent a message to Dazhong to deliver four portions of rice to downstairs, of course, Erxi's was still plain porridge.
She slowly got out of bed to eat, and was surprised to see Er Xi playing on the computer. Her complexion had improved a lot, and Wei Wei asked with some concern: "Don't you feel uncomfortable?"
Cockroaches' resilience isn't this strong, right?
"Look at the webpage, there's nothing." Er Xi excitedly said: "Wei Wei, there are so many posts about you and Xiao Nai on the school forum! And there are even photos of you two holding hands in the basketball gym yesterday!"
Weiwei, who had just picked up her lunchbox to eat, was choked for a moment. She walked over with the lunchbox and saw that on the computer screen there was a photo of a great god holding hands with her in the basketball gymnasium. The person taking the picture was probably a bit far away, so everyone looked very small, but it was absolutely recognizable as Bai Weiwei and Xiao Nai.
A little tired of eating, I put down the lunch box and took Er Xi's computer to look at it myself.
Er Xi said: "You don't have to look, there's nothing to see. At first, many people didn't believe it, but then photos were posted and everyone was shocked. Haha, right, that post from before saying you two are the most mismatched couple also got pushed back up."
She flipped through a few posts and indeed found what she said, returned the computer to her, and continued eating. "People from our school are too gossipy."
"Oh no, it's exam time! The closer we get to the exam, the more gossip everyone spreads. This is what they call stress relief!"
It makes sense, but I'm being used as a stress-relief topic...
Weiwei could only take a big bite of the pork ribs to express her frustration!
When they were almost done eating, the dormitory phone rang. Xiaoling went to answer it and a moment later she shouted to Weiwei: "Weiwei, it's your family on the phone!"
The phone rang faintly, and after a single ring, a voice came from the other end.
"Are you up?"
The voice on the phone was very low and didn't seem quite like talking in real life. Suddenly, she realized that this was her first phone call with Da Shen.
"Ah, I'm up."
"Are you going to self-study this afternoon?"
"I wanted to study, but now it's too late and there's no space left."
That's a problem, Xiao Nai hesitated for a moment and said: "There is a quiet place, I'll take you there."
The dormitory building where Weiwei lived was one of the newly built buildings in A University a few years ago, imitating the architecture of the Republic of China. The brick-red building was square and elegant, hidden among the lush green trees, with a very beautiful and pleasant environment. In front of the flower bed in front of the dormitory building, there were always groups of suitors for the girls in this building, either holding flowers or carrying gifts, which was a common sight. However, today someone else stood there, and everything seemed out of harmony.
He stepped out of the building and immediately saw Xiao Nai. Under the gaze of the crowd, he was as calm and composed as ever, standing quietly beside a flowerbed with a bicycle parked next to him.
Under the sidelong glances of many people, Weiwei walked quietly to Xiao Nai's side. Because she had come downstairs a bit too quickly just now, she was slightly out of breath, her cheeks were tinged with pink, and her eyes sparkled brightly.
"Where are we going?"
"I'll take you there." Xiao Nai casually took the backpack that was hanging from her hand and hung it on the car.
Xiao Nai's bicycle was slightly more comfortable on the second ride, and her mood had become much more natural compared to the first time. In fact, if she were to choose now, she would rather sit on a bicycle, as walking shoulder-to-shoulder with Da Shen seemed to require even more courage. As for the gazes of passersby along the way...
Photos have been posted online, what's there to worry about? Just ignore them all.
Because she wasn't paying attention, she sat quietly in the back of the car and didn't realize they were going the wrong way until they had already passed the west gate. She suddenly realized: "Huh? Aren't we supposed to be going to self-study?"
"That place is outside."
Go out of the West Gate, turn a corner, and it's China's famous high-tech computer park. Ten minutes later, Xiao Nai stopped in front of a large building and took the elevator to the sixth floor.
As soon as I stepped out of the elevator, I caught sight of the four golden characters "Zhi Yi Technology". After a brief moment of stunned silence, a thought suddenly flashed through my mind - could this be...
"Your company?"
"Ah." Shao Nai opened the tightly closed door, "Come in, it's Sunday today, no one is around."
With a slight sense of pilgrimage, he stepped into his territory with caution, looking around slightly to the left and right along the way.
Xiao Nai's company is not very large, roughly the size of a floor, but computer software companies generally don't need to be too big either, and having more space would just be a waste. Although there are no people in the office now, it still gives off a lively and vibrant feeling, which might have something to do with the layout of the office or the random decorations on the desks that people walked by.
Xiao Nai led her all the way inside and finally opened the door of an office with a sign that read "Xiao Nai".
The office of the great god?
With a hint of curiosity, and being even more cautious, she stepped in, for the moment only taking stock of this strange new space before her, without realizing that she had already been lured to some deserted place.
Xiao Nai calmly turned on the air conditioner and put down the small backpack in his hand on the sofa.
"Can I study here?"
She nodded slightly and sat down on the sofa, then Xiao Nai didn't bother him anymore and opened her computer to do her own thing.
The air conditioner silently blows out cold wind, sweeping away the dry heat brought in from outside. In this comfortable and clean environment, I slightly hold up my book, but can't seem to focus on reading.
Just as the great god said, it's very quiet here, but it's so quiet that it's a bit scary, especially when Weiwei finally realized that there were only two people here... her and him.
She hadn't heard the sound of pages turning for a while, so Xiao Nai looked up at her and saw that she was clearly distracted. "Wei Wei, come take a look at something," he said.
Huh?
She gently put down the book and ran to his side, looking at his computer screen. On the screen of the great god's computer, there were several exquisite ancient male and female figures with beautiful clothes.
"What is this?"
"The basic character setting of Sleeping in Jianghu 2."
The author has something to say: After the old version of Chapter 26 was released, several comments said it was a bit dull, so I self-reflected and felt that it was indeed the case, so I overturned and rewrote a new one.
So now everyone delete the old version 26 in your mind~~~~~
Time rewinds back to Saturday night, after being forced to confess with a hint of cruelty, haha.
I personally prefer the new version a bit more, and surprisingly, the new version was written in just two days, which probably also explains that this one is more suitable.
Well, I'm no longer sure if I can finish writing it before the end of the year. After all, rewriting took two days of effort, but I'll try my best.
Mention it and say it, everyone Happy Chinese New Year!!
