The Inevitable - Ch 5

Well it turned out the man who I thought was my father actually turned out to be my

grandfather. My actual father had been taken before I was born. He was in a adventuring party with

my mother, but someone with ill intentions discovered that he was a demi human and turned him

into the royal army. The last time my mother had seen him; he was chained up in the back of a

carriage while she stood across the street helplessly; unable to do anything.

Shortly after that she discovered that she had conceived me during that time and knew a little

about his family and where they live. She set off to find his parents. After she had told them the

story they took pity on her and let her stay with them with the plan of helping raise me until I was

age fifteen. Fifteen is the legal age of an adult in this world. Unfortunately a few weeks later my

grandmother; who was a human, got gravely ill; with no way of receiving medical attention, she

  died shortly after.

*BANG BANG BANG* The door to the room heaved out as a fist got slammed against it on the

  other side.

“Kusk, are you in there?” A lady’s voice calls out.

I frantically sat up from laying on the floor covered in sweat. I had just finished my daily

workout of 100 pushups, and situps. Hearing the loud noise and the call of the women, I crawl my

way as fast as I can across the floor hiding under the bed. I can’t be seen without being covered.

If she finds out I’m a demi human I will become a slave or even worse.

“Kusk I need your help!” The lady calls out.

*BANG BANG BANG* She pounds on the door again.

Currently it was mid afternoon, my mother had left a few hours before for work, and won't be

back for another 4 hours or so. No one had ever bothered trying to get into the room while she was

away. What the hell could I; a damn 7 year old kid, do to help anyone. She is obviously lying. She

must have found out. I hear a key going into the lock on the door, and a slight click as it was

unlocked. Slowly the door opens and a person stands in the room. I can see the legs of a woman.

The past couple weeks my mother would take me outside during the night and show me different

places in the town. Occasionally she would sit down at the bar during less rowdy nights and chat

with the bartender, as I paid attention to the conversations of the clients.

“Kusk I know you’re in here you can come out. Don’t be scared.” The woman says as she starts to

  walk towards the bed.

Shit. What the fuck am I suppose to do. I can’t take this woman. I’m going to die.

She walks to the end of the bed and kneels down.

“Kusk, I can see you.” She says looking towards me as I lay as close to the wall holding my

  breath.

“Please don’t kill me.” I meekly let out my voice trembling. I really want to be able to live before

  dying a second time.

“I won’t kill you darling. I need your help, come out here and let me explain. Also I had

suspicions you were a demi since you weren’t allowed to leave the first seven years you lived here.

I can see I wasn’t wrong.” She states as I turned my face to look towards her. My right eye is

almost certainly glowing under the bed.

“Okay I’m going to come out.” I slowly inch my way out from under the bed towards her, trembling

  with every motion.

As I reached her she firmly grasped my leg and heaved me out from under the bed.

“Ha ha ha, children are so gullible.” Her voice instantly changed from sweet and caring to menace.

Kneeling in front of me is a woman I know, it is the bartender.

I frantically flail my arms out, grabbing the end of the bed and pulling myself towards it, slipping her

hand and kicking her in the breast. Unfortunately it was a meek attempt, as she hardly even

flinched. She leaped on top of me, pinning my legs down as I tried my best to defend myself.

She put her hands down locking my arms to my side.

“You sure are a feisty one arn’t you. You’ll make a great play thing for some rich mutt.” She spits

out, as she pulls my arms together and holds them in one hand.

Reaching behind her back she wraps my hand with a rope. Tears are streaming down my

face. This is the end. Fuck this life. The memories of my past and every person I had my way with

rushes to the surface. I feel like throwing up. She lifts me up to a sitting position and quickly throws

me face down, tying my legs much like my hands.

Picking me up and throwing me to the side of the room, the bartender quickly tosses everything in

the room around destroying the place. I don’t make a sound as I know calling out for help would

more than likely make this an even worse situation. The bartender quietly stalks over to me and lifts

me with one hand tossing me over her shoulder. Snot and tears are streaming down my face onto

her back as she takes me out of the room. The only thing I was wearing was a set of brown shorts

my mother had given to me a week before.

The woman casually hits the top of the door handle with her hand causing the handle along with

parts of the door to smash down to the floor. With that done she turns around and heads towards

the stairs. If only I could do something, anything to protect myself. I don’t even have a weapon.

We make our way down the stairs and into the pub, the bear rug on the wall looking more

menacing than any day I've seen it. The pub is completely devoid of all life. The only noise is the

thunderous steps of the women. She moves quickly past the bar into the kitchen.

The kitchen is very small. It has a small center island with barely enough room for 1 person on

either side. There are cupboards along the back wall, with a couple pieces of hanging meat hung

from them. Wooden bowls and plates are neatly stacked off to one side. On the wall closest toward

the bar are 3 barrels of liquor, above them stacked neatly are mugs. She brushes by one of the

barrels, nearly tipping it over. Spinning around the island My head slams into the mugs, causing a

pile of them to slam onto the floor, 3 of them break upon hitting the stone floor.

“God damn it.” She lets out with a sigh.

She walks towards a door on the right side of the room under the stairs that go to the rooms

  upstairs, and quickly opens it.

“Don’t bother making a noise, no one will hear you.” She slips me off her shoulder and throws

me like a sack into the room.

A blast of cold air hits me as I am thrown 8 feet down onto a dirty floor. The door at the top of a

stairway closes, and with a click of a lock; I’m trapped.

  - Skill Pain Resistance lvl 1 learned -

I try to gather my bearings, as I sit up. A dull pain protrudes from my left shoulder. I managed

to take a brunt of the fall on my left shoulder, but it feels like it's dislocated. I try looking around the

room, but it's pitch black. There is no light, not even from the direction of the door. The only sounds

I hear is a persistent dripping, and occasional sound of small claws skittering across the floor. I

break down into a fit of sobs, barely being able to catch my breath. Fuck this life I’ve been given.
