Chapter 2

All around was a desolate grayish white, while the figure of that person was all over in deep black, as if it were a color tone that could not let light pass through.

Tang Li was taken aback and ran over to that side without thinking. The skeletal remains under her feet made a rustling sound as they collapsed, and she slid down the hillside to the persons side.

Several carrion birds perched nearby, trying to peck at the fresh meat. Táng Lí hastily waved her hand to shoo them away. Before she could get a clear look at what this person looked like, she first caught a whiff of a strong bloody smell. This body had many wounds, with fresh blood staining the pile of white bones below, and even the hands were smeared with dried bloodstains.

It was like this that the scarred and wounded hand still tightly grasped a long knife. The blade was narrow and straight, with a long black handle, also soaked in blood.

Because it looked too miserable, Tang Li subconsciously held his breath, stretched out his hand, and carefully turned the person over. He was originally face down on the ground, with black hair scattered all over his face, Tang Li turned him over, wanting to test if he still had any breath left.

His black hair fell, revealing a young mans handsome face, with long eyebrows and a straight nose. His eyelashes were exceptionally long, and his closed eyes and pale, tightly pursed lips gave him a sharp yet fragile contrast. His hair was very black, and his skin was white, the clear distinction between black and white making him look extremely transparent.

It was almost in an instant that Táng Lí confirmed, this is Xūn Nú, the male god she had a crush on during her girlhood. Now she has grown up and matured, but this living male god who appeared right in front of her still has the same image as when she first saw him in books.

Tang Li carefully checked his breathing and listened to his heartbeat, discovering that although he was severely injured, he was still alive. After temporarily putting her mind at ease, she wiped away a cold sweat for him.

She is not a doctor and does not know how to treat illnesses. Although in the original story, the female lead seemed to have done nothing but fed him some water and hugged him at night to warm his body, Xun Nu was able to recover on his own, but can it really be that simple?

Tang Li finally decided to believe in the strong vitality of the little male god - right, he was a male god back then, now hes a little male god, after all, he looks several years younger than his actual age.

Sunu still hadnt woken up, and as the night deepened, it started to get cold around them. Tang Li busied herself gathering some flammable rags and wood scraps from the surroundings and built a fire heap. She took out a lighter from her waist and managed to light the fire after some effort, but the wind was too strong, causing the flames to flicker constantly. She looked at Sunu, who still showed no reaction and remained unconscious, then got up and started searching around again.

Tang Li was fortunate to find a large piece of fabric that had not yet rotted, which looked like thick canvas, and pulled it out from the pile of white bones. She used a small dagger from her sleeve to cut the fabric into a more regular shape, rolled it up, and tied it into a bundle. In addition, she gathered some other useful items, half-dragging and half-hugging them back to the fire pit, chose a good location, and made a simple windbreak that could block the wind, although it was still a bit leaky, but much better than before.

The fire gradually burned brighter, and Táng Lí touched Xūnús hand, finding it icy cold. She moved the fire closer, carefully lifting his head and upper body into her own lap, then covered them both with her outer garment.

It feels strange to be in the arms of a stranger, but thinking that this is the person I admired and cherished during my girlhood, the unease turns into an indescribable excitement and a subtle dreamlike quality.

After doing all this, Táng Lí slowly let out a breath and only then did she feel her waist and back ache.

Because she had to take care of people, she couldnt even afford to be afraid of the dead bodies at first. She has a loving and caring attribute like an old mother, likes to take care of others, so from childhood to adulthood, many friends rely on her. When she was in college, she became the dormitory head, after the first semester, except for her, everyone else had gained ten or twenty pounds under her care, everyone called her a pig-raising expert, or directly joked and called her mom.

In order to take better care of a group of lazy people, she has the habit of carrying many small things on her body, which can be called a walking treasure bag. This habit has been maintained until now, so now she not only has a lighter and a dagger on her body, but also has more than a dozen packets of seasonings from the kitchen, several pieces of sugar, and in her sleeve pocket there are silk handkerchiefs, hair bands, combs, and small silver objects.

Always fully prepared at all times.

When dawn broke, Táng Lí woke up. She had only dozed off slightly before daybreak and was still half asleep. In her dream, it seemed that her mother was urging her to get married. Probably from now on, she would no longer hear the sound of her mother scolding her in anger.

After being dazed for a while, Tang Li lowered his head to look at Xun Nu. He hadnt woken up and was still closing his eyes, but his body was warmer than yesterday. The fire had gone out, having been roasted all night, his throat was dry, and seeing the dry skin on Xun Nus lips, Tang Li took out a handkerchief as expected, picked up the lid of the pastries that had been placed aside, dipped it in the dew on top, and moistened his lips.

Unfortunately, there is no water source in sight.

Just as she put the handkerchief away, Tang Li suddenly met a pair of shiny black eyes. Xun Nu had opened her eyes at some point and was quietly staring at her.

His eyes were as black as his hair, and because of their purity, they looked clean and spotless. His gaze was calm, without any doubt or murderous intent, which didnt quite match his identity as a top killer.

But Tangerine knew that in the original work, Xun Nu was a pure person. In his childhood, due to poverty and famine, he was abandoned by his relatives, and his master picked him up, taught him to kill, gave him food, even if later he became the worlds number one killer, even if the master died, he still stayed in the organization. His life had only one thing - killing, until he met the heroine, he realized that the weapon in his hand could not only kill people but also protect them.

Just as Tang Li was slightly distracted for a moment, he found that Xun Nus eyes had closed again, and she fell asleep silently once more.

Tang Li gazed at Xun Nu, who was unconscious in her arms, and patted her chest. She finally understood why some of her friends who were fans of celebrities would sometimes call their idol "son", sometimes "brother", and occasionally even "dad", when they were clearly referring to the same person.

When Xun Nu hadnt opened his eyes, Tang Li thought he was a lovable little thing that made people want to take care of him like a child. But when he woke up and locked eyes with her for an instant, Tang Li found herself wanting to call him "Dad", the atmosphere was so strong!

The killer dad closed his eyes and turned into a little cutie again. Táng Lí moved his head from her lap to let him lie down more comfortably, then got up with the pastry box to search for water source. However, after searching around in circles, she didnt find any water source, but instead saw dark clouds gathering in the sky, as if it was going to rain.

Tang Li hurried back, dismantled the simple windbreak she had hastily made yesterday, and rebuilt one that could keep out the rain. She also found several helmet-like objects, lined them up to collect rainwater. Originally, if she hadnt found these, she was prepared to use her skullcap to collect water; if she really used her skullcap to collect water, she thought she might not be able to drink it.

In addition to the flammable rags, withered wood and broken flagpoles, she also collected a lot of them. For a whole day, Tang Li, who had a collecting habit, was busy like a diligent little bee, and didnt even notice that Xun Nu woke up several times during this period, lying there watching her.

In the thunder and lightning, the rain suddenly fell. Tang Li hugged the two helmets she had just found in her arms and ran back to the shed that could avoid the rain, squatted down to rinse her hands clean, patted the dust on her body, and sat back in yesterdays position. She lifted up Xun Nus head and rested it on her leg.

The raindrops dripped along the edge of the shed and fell into those helmets. Tang Li waited for a while, until some water accumulated in the lid of the pastry box, then picked it up to take two sips, which finally alleviated her thirst.

She also wanted to give Xun Nu some water, but he didnt wake up, and it was inconvenient for her to do so. Just as she was thinking of a solution, Xun Nu woke up.

"Youre awake, would you like some water?" Tang Li smiled.

Xunu didnt refuse, took her hand and drank water, then turned his head to look at her.

Tang Li felt moved just watching him drink water, and seeing him look at her, she introduced herself: "My name is Tang Li, Im a person who mistakenly entered this place, what about you?"

Xunú opened his mouth and said two words, "Xunú".

His voice is special, with a hoarse tone. Táng Lí remembers that in the book it was mentioned that he had injured his throat when he was young, and after treatment, it still didnt heal completely, so his voice is lower and more hoarse than usual, and in the original work, he doesnt like to talk much either.

As soon as she heard this voice, Tang Li only felt like someone had stroked her from the back of her neck all the way to her coccyx, with a tingling sensation on her scalp.

Why does the voice of this little boy god sound so special and good? Tang Li wanted to hear him say a few more words, and couldnt help but find a topic to ask: "Which two characters are they?"

She replied in her usual hoarse voice, "The Xun of the Bagua is Xun, and you are a slave."

Tang Li was so delighted that she almost got drunk, her eyes sparkling. "Nuan Nu, are you hungry? Do you want to eat something? I still have a few pastries here."

His spirit was not good, and he closed his eyes to rest again after a while. He slept very quietly, with steady breathing, and Táng Lí supported his head to look at him, but soon couldnt help dozing off in the sound of the rain, and his head fell asleep too.

Xunú woke up in her arms, she was still asleep, and the hair on her cheek fell on Xunús temple. Xunú didnt know what identity this woman had, but he didnt feel any malice from her, so he didnt react much to her closeness.

His body was too heavily injured, he struggled to lift his right hand and saw the bloodstains on it had been wiped clean by someone, and even wrapped with a piece of cloth. His sword was placed beside him, and his fingers moved slightly to touch it.

He first moved his fingers, touched the hilt of the sword, and then hesitated for a moment before slowly raising his hand to touch the cheek of the woman who was holding him, lightly touching it once before putting down his hand.

He felt the temperature at his fingertips and couldnt help but think that this was a real person.

A few days ago, Xun Nu thought he would die here and end up as an anonymous white bone like many corpses here. He didnt think anyone would save him because he had no relatives or friends, so no one would come to rescue him. Its not bad that way, he has killed many people, from the day his master taught him to kill the first person, he knew that one day he would also be killed like this.

Master said before, people like them will not have a good ending, and maybe they wont even have a grave.

He could feel his body gradually cooling down, smelling the scent of death. But suddenly, that smell was replaced by another smell, a clean and soft fragrance on a persons body, very close to him, wrapping him up, and his body slowly warmed up. When he woke up again, he saw the morning sunlight, and also saw a woman whose face was blurry in this sunlight, as if it were a dream, and disappeared into the darkness with a blink of an eye.

He wanted to see what this person looked like, he woke up several times and saw a figure busy around him. Although he still couldnt see her appearance clearly, every time he opened his eyes, the person was there.

When she asked his name, her smile was very gentle, and that expression made Xun Nu think of soft and sweet flowers, which were a completely different existence from him.

He suddenly remembered that two years ago, he was ordered to kill a man. In the courtyard of that mans house, there was a beautiful white pear tree in bloom. They fought several rounds in the courtyard, and finally he beheaded the man with one sword stroke under that pear tree. Fresh blood splattered on the tree, staining one branch of the pear flowers red. At that moment, looking at that branch of pear flowers, he suddenly felt a pang of guilt.

He had never felt guilty for taking a life with his own hands, but at that moment he felt he shouldnt have stained such pure and white flowers with blood.
