Chapter 3: The past (part 2)

  That day she came up with a plan that she thought would be a great way to explain and hide her pregnancy. The reason she could not just go and say it was his child is that they hadn't been together since after her sister's birthday as the day she returned back home she had learnt that he had to leave on a last minute business trip and he had not been able to spend enough time together. She then later became so busy with her job that they were not together as she had to travel to China in order to complete some job requests only having returned to the country last week. She then remembered her best friend Linda from China whom she had met at a gala during new years five years ago.

  Linda was a beauty who had a great figure and carried a mysterious charm making many men want to fall in love with her and as she continued to think about her she remembered that her husband had developed a crush on her best friends as there had been many of those incidents in the past as he had begun having affairs with other women after being married to her for 5 years. She had discovered it the first time it occurred and they had fought about it but she wasn't able to do anything and since she had fallen in love with him, his actions pained her. She remembers that he had wanted to do the same with her best friend but was not able to. Thinking about that she decided that this would be a great way to stop him from having thoughts about her friend there by killing two birds with one stone.

  Looking out of her villa window she decides to make a call to her best friend.” Hello, Linda, how are you?” “ I am fine and you? Do you need something you usually don't call unless you need help?”” oh you know me so well i am glad, but yes i do need your help and i am not fine.” “ What is it? What's wrong?” “I am pregnant.” “well isn't that good news.” “ No it isn't, it's not my husbands.” “what why? What happened?” “ My sister had drugged me on her birthday and I ran away and ended up having a fling with this man that i don't know and well i took the pill but apparently it was too late.” “ Can’t you have an abortion?” “ Not, possible the pregnancy is already 5 months in and it's too complicated to have it surgically removed plus it leaves scars and I can't have my husband find out?” “ Well that's bad.” “ yeah , i know but then i remember you saying you wanted children but couldn't so i was thinking if you could disguise yourself as if you were pregnant come here and i will tell my husband that i will be taking care of you during the pregnancy and then how about you adopt it?” “but that's not what I meant when I said I wanted children.” “ Please do this for me, you can adopt it or take him with you and leave him at an orphanage.” “ ok. Fine, where do I need to go? and by when?” “the faster the better so how about tomorrow and come to the villa that you gave me?”

  “Thank god she agreed to come. Now I need to call my husband.” “ Husband, I need to take care of Linda.” “ what why? Did something happen to her?” a sharp glint passes by in her eyes and she takes a deep breath. “No dear, everything is fine. She is just pregnant and wants me to help her as I am a mother?” “oh ok for how long can i come.” “ She is five months in and no you cannot, she doesn't want others around during this time.” “ ok then that's fine i understand so i guess i won't be seeing you until six more months.” “ yes darling, until then we can have calls, don't call me i will call you ok bye.” “Ok, bye” now that that is over i need to make other calls for equipment to be sent here as well as doctors who will keep their mouth shut.

  This is stressful at least the baby isn't giving me problems. Linda should be boarding the plane right now. Hopefully photos of her are captured in order to dispel suspicion. I wanted to let reporters know but that would be crossing it. In any case, I should check the internet, maybe there is news already online. “ Linda Blackwell, the international superstar is leaving the country all covered up but why is her belly so big? Is she pregnant? Lately she has not been participating in any work these past few months. Is pregnancy the reason?” praise the gods that she was spotted.

  The next day i heard the doorbell ring and as i peep from the door outside i am able to see Linda and i hurriedly open the door while covering myself allowing her to come in. “Ok, I am here now so explain to me how this happened?” I proceeded to explain to her in great detail more about the whole situation as I had not been able to do so over the phone.” “ Well then since you're my friend I will help you but I think it will be necessary for us to draft a contract in regards to the baby as I don't want to grow attached only for you to come and ask for it back.” “Ok that's fair enough, I also wanted to say that I am sorry for dragging you into this as i just saw the post online about the pregnancy.” “ That's fine don't worry about it, my company will release a statement later this week” “oh thank goodness i was worried.” “ No it's alright” “ So do you know the gender of the baby?” “ Yes, I forgot to tell you as I was worried that if you knew you wouldn't want to help me any more.” “No, I could never, I would never do such a thing. So tell me, is it a boy or a girl?”

  “It's a girl.” “That's fine then it will be a lot easier to take care of but I want to inform you that I want to change the baby's gender as male on her birth certificate.” “Alright, that's fine it will be your child but do you care to tell me the reason why?” “Well, i would think you would understand best as to the exact reason as to why, you and me both know that the life we live is complicated and unfair to those of the female gender, i do not wish to come out biased or anything like that but while people in the world might preach about equality deep in side we know that is not completely true as in everything, there will always be certain discrepancies no matter what we do or want to do. It's always been the rule of the jungle in which the strong rule over the weak. I don't want her to experience these issues as she grows older.” “ I see, you are right. I prefer to not think about these things as I do not wish to get attached, do you wish to touch my belly and speak with the fetus.”
