Prologue – The Crack Between Worlds
The sky hung heavily over the city, as if hiding something within its gray, cloudy masses. A gentle breeze carried the st of rain that had yet to fall. I, Azami Yuki, walked to the uy as usual, my steps rexed. Nothing seemed different today. The same streets. The same buildings. The same people passing by on the sidewalk.
But everything ged in an instant.
As I walked along the sidewalk I knew by heart, my eyes caught something strange ahead. A craot in the ground or a wall, but in the air itself. It was as if the air had shattered like gss, hanging in the middle of the street, unbound by the rules of this world.
I stopped.
My chest tightened, and my breath caught. I wao turn back, to step away. But before I could do anything, the crack shattered—splintering into thousands of shards of light and creating a powerful su I couldn’t resist.
My world turned upside down.
I felt my body being pulled into a void. Strange voices filled my head—faint whispers I couldn’t uand.
Then, everythi dark.
---
When I opened my eyes, I was still standing in the same pce. The street was still there. The buildings were unged. Even the breeze felt the same.
But something was different.
I took a hesitant step forward. This world felt too familiar, yet slightly off from what I remembered. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. Maybe I was just halluating?
I finally reached my apartment. My hand reached into my pocket, pulled out the key, and ied it into the lock. As I opehe door, I found something that shouldn’t have been possible.
Inside my apartment—
A woman stood there.
She was wearing underwear, as if she had just ged her clothes. Her eyes widened as she saw me, her cheeks flushing instantly. But what sent chills down my spine wasn’t just that.
Her face…
Her bck hair…
Her body shape…
Everything looked like me.
I was staring at myself, but in the form of a woman.
Before I could utter a single word, my head throbbed violently. The se in front of me spun—and once again, I lost sciousness.
