Chapter 10: Blood Day Descends (Part 2)

The blood day and the blood rain lasted for a whole day before gradually dispersing, and everything returned to normal. Ah-Dai was gloomy all day long, without even the mood to practice magic. He didnt know why, but his heart kept racing as if something had happened. Only after the blood day and blood rain disappeared did Owen wake up from his meditation, having resisted the evil force for a whole day, looking extremely exhausted.

"Uncle, are you done meditating?" Ah-Dai looked at Owen, whose face was somewhat pale, as he walked out of the room.

Owen nodded and said with lingering fear: "What a strong evil energy! It seems that the legendary tribulation is indeed true!"

"Ah-doi apparently didnt understand Owens words and said: Today, Uncle Shi Er came over once, I told him you were ill and resting. Uncle Shi Er said that today all the fishermen did not go out to sea to fish. He wants to ask if you know whats going on."

"Alright, lets eat something first. After dinner, you stay home and think things over by yourself, Ill go visit your Uncle Shier."

Ah-Dai nodded obediently and said, "Okay, lets eat." The two of them casually ate something, and Owen went out, while Ah-Dai stayed at home and entered a state of deep contemplation.

This sudden change in the weather, caused a stir throughout the entire continent, with peoples hearts filled with anxiety. Some were happy, some were worried, but no one could explain what was happening on this sudden day of blood. This anomaly lasted for several months before subsiding. The four countries of the continent implemented policies to calm the peoples minds, but the Sacred Church did not provide any explanation for the event. As a result, dissatisfaction with the church quietly grew. It wasnt until after a year of turmoil that the effects of the Blood Day and Blood Rain completely disappeared, but on the continent, an eerie atmosphere emerged.

In May of the year 1990, Ah-Dai had been in Shitang Town for one year and two months.

"Ah-Dai brother, youve grown a lot taller than when you first came!"

  Here is the translation:

At thirteen years old, Ah-Dai looked at the little girl in front of him, Seffi, who was two years younger than him, and smiled: "Really? Youve been eating a lot lately, and it seems like youve grown quite a bit taller." At thirteen years old, Ah-Dai was already around 1.6 meters tall, which made him relatively tall among his peers. In the past year, apart from teaching Ah-Dai the Shengshen Jue, Owen hadnt taught him any other martial arts. However, Ah-Dai had already mastered the Suoyu Federation language in just a year. Since there were only six major ethnic groups in the federation with different accents, Owen had only taught Ah-Dai the Xibo accent of the Suoyu Federation language. Ah-Dais diligent practice had paid off, and he could now run for twenty-seven hours straight. His Shengshen Jue had also reached the second level. Ah-Dai had once asked Owen when he would be able to leave, but Owen hadnt given him a direct answer, only telling him that there was still much for him to learn. Now, Owen had started teaching Ah-Dai the Tianyu language, which was the common language of the continent and a necessary course for Ah-Dai to study. After finishing their language class today, Ah-Dai went to play with Seffis two sons at the beach. Thanks to his year-long practice of Shengshen Jue, Ah-Dais body had become much stronger than when he first left Nino City, and although he couldnt be called handsome, his honest and rustic demeanor had won over the villagers affection.

"Ah-Dai brother, lets go swimming in the sea, okay?" said Xi Feng, Shi Ers eight-year-old grandson. It was already May, and for these children who lived by the sea all year round, it was completely possible to start swimming now. According to their generation, they should have called him Ah-Dai uncle, but since they were close in age, when there were no adults around, they all called him Ah-Dai brother.

Ah-Dais swimming skills werent very good, he had only swum a few times under the guidance of Xi Feis father. He hesitated for a moment, then lowered his head and said: "You guys go ahead, Im not a good swimmer."

Xier, who was only four years old, shouted: "I want to go, I also want to go."

Xie Fei said: "No way, youre still too young. You should go home quickly. Swimming is for us big kids to play with, not you."

Xiers eyes suddenly turned red, and he stretched out his chubby little hand to grab the hem of his sisters clothes. "Sister, sister, take me with you. Xier will be very good."

Ah-Dai squatted on the ground, holding Xi-Lei in his arms, "Xi-Lei, the sea is too dangerous, youre still young and cant swim, Ah-Dai cant either, lets play with sand on the shore instead."

Xī Léi looked at ā Dāi and nodded: "Okay, but, ā Dāi brother, you have to build a big castle for me."

ADai nodded and said to Xifei, "Xifei sister, you go with Xiao Feng, Ill stay here with Leilei. But dont swim too deep, the water is very dangerous."

Xie Fei and her younger brother Xie Feng took off their outerwear, responded with a "yes", and rushed into the sea. They had learned to swim under their fathers guidance when they were young, so the calm seawater was nothing to them. In a while, they swam out of sight. Ah Dai and Xie Lei started playing with sand on the beach. Ah Dai was very patient and played happily with four-year-old Xie Lei.

Suddenly, a dark cloud floated in the originally clear sky, and the sea breeze suddenly grew stronger. The calm sea surface stirred up waves and became rough.

ADai stood up, gazing out at the distant sea surface, but he didnt catch a glimpse of Xifeis brother. He muttered to himself: "Why hasnt he come back yet? The waves are so big, its dangerous."

Xilei shook Adais hand and said, "Adai brother, sister they will be fine."

The rain poured down, with the cold wind blowing on the beach. Ah-Dai anxiously walked to the seaside, looking far away, but still no sign of Xi Fei and the others. He turned his head to Xi Lei and said: "Xi Lei, its raining, you go back home first and tell your grandfather to hurry over. Feier and Xiao Feng havent come back yet. Ill wait here."

Xī Léi nodded and turned to run towards the town. The wind grew stronger, the waves higher, but Xī Fēi and Xī Fēng were still nowhere to be seen. They were all Ah Dāis good friends, and in his heart, he had long considered them as his own family. He anxiously walked to the seaside, letting the seawater soak his pant legs.

No, cant wait any longer. If Seffi and Xifeng are in trouble, how will I explain to Uncle Xier? Thinking of this, Ah-Dai took off his outer clothes and threw them aside, quickly plunging into the sea. Although his swimming skills were not very good, his rigorous training had made his physique extremely strong. He adjusted his breathing, struggling in the waves, and soon he was carried deep into the sea by the waves. The shore had become a blurry line, and he swam while continuously shouting Seffi and Xifengs names. However, his voice was completely covered by the waves. In this endless expanse of water, how could anyone hear him? Until now, he still hadnt realized that he himself had also fallen into danger.

Because of the waves on the sea, Shi Ers three sons all returned home early to collect their boats. As soon as they entered the house, they happened to meet Shi Lei who had rushed back to report the news. Without resting, they immediately hurried to the seaside.

"Father, look! Isnt that Brother and Sister?" Indeed, Xi Fei and Xi Feng had just walked out of the sea onto the beach.

Xifei also saw them and excitedly ran over, calling out: "Dad, Second Uncle, Third Uncle, how did you come?"

Xie Feis father Xie Zhong said in a deep voice, "Youre too bold, daring to swim in the sea with such big waves. What if you get swept away by the water?"

Xie Fei stuck out her tongue, pulled her fathers hand and said in a spoiled tone: "Dad, dont worry, Im very good at swimming with Feng Ge, what could happen? Playing in the waves is so much fun! Its just a bit tiring when we swim back." He turned to his little brother and asked: "Lei Lei, wheres Ah Dai Gege? Werent you together?"

Xilei suddenly looked at his father Xi Bai and said: "Isnt Ah Dang brother waiting for you on the shore? Why havent we seen him?"

He glanced at his two brothers and said, "Everyone quickly search, Ah Duan will not leave Feier and Fenger behind and return first, he should be nearby." Although he said so with his mouth, but in his heart, there was a sense of foreboding. The sandy beach was so flat, without any cover, if Ah Duan was there, they should have been able to see him at a glance.

Xifeng suddenly said: "Dad, Eldest Uncle, Third Uncle, look, isnt this Ah Daidis outer garment?"

Xī Zhōng, Xī Fā and Xī Bái ran to the front, and indeed, ā Dāis outer garment was on the beach, completely soaked by the rain. The three of them looked at each other in dismay, and Xī Zhōngs expression changed: "This is bad, ā Dāi must have gone into the sea to look for you guys. This is terrible, his swimming skills are not good, it will be very difficult for him to swim back. Old Three, quickly go inform ōu Wén Uncle, Old Two, lets go find him in the sea."

At this time, Ah-Dai could no longer see the shore. Under the dark clouds, waves kept slapping his body. He wiped the seawater off his face and anxiously looked around, "Feier, Xiao Feng, where are you?!" What he was thinking about now was still Xi Fei and Xi Fengs safety. A big wave came over, causing Ah-Dai to swallow a mouthful of salty sea water. The bitter taste made him feel extremely uncomfortable. His physical strength was slowly disappearing, and the crisis was gradually approaching him.

ADai, floating on the surface of the sea, suddenly felt a sharp pain in his legs, as if something had stabbed him. He let out a loud cry and bent down to touch it, feeling a slippery body with a sharp thorn that had deeply pierced the muscle of his thigh. Fresh red blood gushed out from the wound, spreading through the surrounding seawater. ADai grasped the slippery body with both hands and pulled it out, causing his entire right leg to numb completely, with blood continuously flowing out. He took in a deep breath, and the true energy within him automatically shifted to the wounded area, sealing off the bleeding. The seawater continued to irritate the wound, making ADai almost faint from the pain.

The slippery body in his hand suddenly twisted violently, as if trying to break free from Ah-Dais hands. Ah-Dai held the body up to his eyes and found it was a two-foot-long golden strange fish. Its whole body shone with golden light, not only different from the color of the fish he had seen before, but also had an extra pair of sharp golden mouth that was as long as its body, which had pierced Ah-Dais thigh.

ADai grasped the monster fishs mouth with one hand and its tail with the other, relying solely on the buoyancy of the seawater to float on the surface. Due to excessive blood loss, he felt dizzy and disoriented, wave after wave crashing against his body without end. The monster fish struggled repeatedly but couldnt break free from ADais powerful grip.

The silly and numb monster fish said: "You, why did you stab me? It hurts so much!" The monster fish wriggled twice, the seawater on its body flowed over its eyes, as if it had shed tears. Its two glittering golden eyes looked at Ah-Dai with a pitiful expression, seemingly begging him to let it go.

ADais heart softened, and he said, "Ill let you go, but dont stab me again, and dont stab others in the future either." As he spoke, he tossed it outwards, throwing the strange fish into the sea. The golden light flashed a few times in the seawater, and the strange fish disappeared without a trace.

ADai carefully touched the wound on his leg, which had stopped bleeding, and continued to shout loudly, "Feier, Xiao Feng, where are you? Im ADai!" After shouting a few times, his throat became hoarse, and under the constant impact of the waves, ADais consciousness grew increasingly fuzzy.

Just as Ah Dai was about to faint, a flash of golden light appeared, and the golden strange fish came back. It pecked at Ah Dais body with its long beak, holding something in its mouth.

ADai wiped the seawater from his face and panted: "Is it for me?"

The strange fish seemed to understand and nodded its head. Ah-Dai removed the object from the monster fishs mouth, which turned out to be a white jade ring. On the surface, there was nothing unusual about it. Ah-Dai blinked his blurry eyes and forced the ring onto his left index finger. A huge wave came crashing down, instantly knocking him unconscious.

On the shore, under Xi Bais lead, Owen rushed to the beach where Ah Dumb had gone into the water. The turbulent waves kept hitting the sandy beach on the shore. Xi Fei, Xi Feng and Xi Lei stood by the shore. Xi Fei and Xi Feng obviously knew they were in trouble, hanging their heads silently. Owen asked urgently: "Fei Er, have your father and second uncle found Ah Dumb?"
