Chapter 236 - More flash upgrades

The sky seemed infinitely endless to small creatures such as themselves, it was big, and it was also as beautiful as it was big! The rainbow colors changed positions every time they passed through a cloud of gas, thus offering an infinite, almost endless show of immense beauty!

The team enjoyed this part of the explorative trip very much, so their stress faded away exponentially! They explored the endless sky, and hoped to run into anything useful, because exploration just for exploration's sake, wouldn't get them anywhere!

“How long did it take you to find…” Skendus tried to ask, but his telepathic speech was suddenly slurred.

Tim couldn't answer back either, because not only was their speech suddenly slurred, but their very souls were being tossed around like sheets of paper, down an invisible canal of sorts! They did not understand what was going on, and it didn’t help how the fragments of their conscience that were attached to their souls, were being messed with as well.

What felt like an eternity later, they made it to the other side of the canal. They were okay, but things got really confusing, because up until a moment ago, they subconsciously expected that they were entering another universe, but that was not the case, they still were here, up in the sky belonging to the planet in the main universe!

“What the hell happened?” Tim asked himself.

[You've entered a Gaseous Pocket Space, which is a far less significant version of an actual Pocket Space.] The system beeped, [Simply said, you're trapped within a specific combination of gas that creates pocket spaces such as the one you're in right now, where ghosts and souls can get entrapped in.]

  “That sounds bad,” He added.

[Not necessarily,] The system beeped, and only seconds later, he realized what she meant.

  [+204 phantomized mana points]

  [+251 phantomized mana points]

  [+138 phantomized mana points]

  [+195 phantomized mana points]

A moment later, his blue-colored tiny soul experienced a bit of a flash, his soul emitted a pale glow, which could only mean one thing. He experienced a flash upgrade!

“So that's what these pocket spaces are for! It's comforting to know that they're never a bad thing.” He mumbled, and then tried to tell his friends what was going on.

The flash upgrades beat him to it, however, because they experienced the very same thing, two seconds later! They were beyond excited about what they found themselves in!

The team were effortlessly harvesting the clouds around them, regardless of what color the clouds bore! Be it pink, white, or green, they harvested everything, and in hindsight this was very confusing because they assumed that only some specific color of cloud would give them mana, but they were happy nonetheless, they were happy to be mistaken! Being powerful and confused was a state that Timothy lived in for months!

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

During this process, as whole strings of mana poured into his body, Timothy did the best thing he could do in this situation. He managed to break down, and analyze the strings of mana around him, thus, he started to understand what makes a gas cloud harvestable! He had this infinite thirst for knowledge, where he sought it like a thirsty goat seeking water, and this thirst made him indifferent to everything else, including all the flash upgrades that he was experiencing! He mainly focused on the mana channels that he was studying, and that was how he made progress in his little research!

“The gas around us is very pure, it makes sense that we're harvesting everything, it's missing the key channels that would otherwise make them impure!” He blabbered.

Although his friends couldn't understand him, the discovery he made here was the raw difference between just surviving, and making immense progress across the endless sky! He figured out what made gas clouds harvestable, or convertable!

[You've ascended to level five, in the Rogue Entity Realm of phantomized mana.] The system beeped, snapping him out of his train of thoughts. [Congratulations!]

“Sounds good, but I don't care about this pocket space anymore. I made a discovery that would put even the greatest pocket spaces into shame, haha!” He celebrated.

Timothy then noticed that the amount of mana he was receiving now, was four times as little in comparison to a few moments ago, which could only mean that these ‘pure clouds’ were close to being depleted. As these clouds depleted more and more, the team started being tossed around against their will, and this amount of instability constituted an explosion! He fully expected it.

“If these clouds explode, we're probably gonna get tossed back to our bodies… I can't wait another week to get back here!” He figured, so despite the circumstances, he wanted to put an experiment of his to the test.

With the best of his abilities, he summoned a pale, empty essence, and started running mana channels through it. He tried to create a new ability, before it was too late to do so! The mana channels that he was running through the pale essence were hollow, as they should be, but this time around, he also made them very thin!

  “This should work,” He figured.

Timothy had knitted three rows of nets together with the mana channels that he had been working on, and this, in turn, should give him a very useful new ability! This ability was supposed to help him harvest any kind of gas cloud around him, which of course would allow unparalleled progress in terms of the improvement of his phantomized mana quality! He was very efficient at putting new information to work.

With little effort, he then absorbed this new ability, and instantly noticed that he was harvesting a couple of points more afterwards! Being able to harvest mana out of every cloud around him was the most precious tool he could get around here, because as a ghost, he could not generate phantomized mana naturally! With this ability, he got an upper advantage over every other entity that strode the sky!

“Haha!” He laughed out in joy.

A blink later, the clouds around him exploded. It wasn't a flashy explosion, but it did toss the team tens of meters away, separating them from each other!

The Pocket Space had collapsed within itself, thus, pouring the remaining of its harvestable mana across the air. This gas then mixed up with other clouds of impure gas, converting that impure gas into something more harvestable!

Overall, the explosion has created a new, fat cloud of gas, featuring thousands of points of harvestable mana! In a way this was good, but the main negative effect to this, was that the explosion had likely caught the attention of hundreds of ghosts, and being as desperate as they were, the ghosts around them, in the close vicinity, were to come here shortly!
