Chapter Thirty-Two: Ingenuity

(Serious notice: This chapter has undergone major revisions. If youve read it before, please re-read it again. Thank you~~~)

Professor Wang and Fu Wen sat in the front of a jeep, while Gu Ming and Guan Tong followed closely behind in another jeep. Along the way, they did not ask the other two people in military uniforms about their situation, but unfortunately, nothing came out of it.

Gu Xiang quickly pulled out her phone and dialed Professor Wangs number, the two soldiers sitting in front of her looked at her but didnt say a word to stop her.

"Whats wrong?" Guan Tong asked hastily as he saw that Gu Mei had only spoken a few words in a low voice before hanging up the phone.

"Its okay, Professor Wang just received a sudden notice and asked us to go over and help right away. Well know the details once we get there." Gu Mian smiled at Guan Tong.

Guan Tong couldnt help but let out a sigh, muttering under her breath that the notice from above was too sudden and didnt clearly explain what was going on, leaving her worried for half a day, thinking something big had happened.

Gu Mei shrugged her shoulders, seeming to agree with Guan Tongs words, but she still felt a bit strange and didnt understand why the people who came to pick them up were wearing military uniforms.

The car had been shaking and swaying for about four or five hours, and it didnt stop until the sky was already bright. During this time, Gu Mian and Guan Tong took advantage of the opportunity to catch up on some sleep, but when they got off the car, they still yawned several times in a row, their stomachs growling with hunger, and neither of them had much energy.

Gu Meng took down her and Guan Tongs luggage from the car, roughly scanning their surroundings in a circle, but didnt recognize where they had arrived. In front of them was a four-story small building that looked like some kind of research institute. At the main entrance of the building stood several people around Professor Wangs age.

Professor Wang apparently knew those people, walked up to them, shook hands with each of them, exchanged a few pleasantries, and then led Gu Mian and Guan Tong into the small building under their guidance.

"Am I so hungry that Im seeing things?" As soon as she walked into the small building, Gu Mei saw two people who shouldnt be here and couldnt help but rub her eyes hard.

She unexpectedly saw Gu Hongzhais Qin Sheng and Mr. Qiao, who was then appraising her Song Dynasty Ding kiln porcelain pillow.

It turned out that Gu Qing did not have any hallucinations. Just as Gu Qing was still doubting himself, Professor Wang walked towards Qin Sheng and Mr. Qiao with a smile on his face.

"Lao Qiao, Xiao Qin, how did you end up here?" Professor Wang gave Mr. Qiao a big hug directly.

"Qin Shengs friend had something that needed my help, and I happened to be free, so here I am. But I said, Old Wang, youre too enthusiastic, I remember we just saw each other last month." Mr. Qiao gave Professor Wang a hug back.

"Last month we met, but you were so busy that you didnt even have time to say a word to me before leaving, how can you be so heartless?" Professor Wang complained.

"Its my fault, Ill treat you to a drink next time." Mr. Qiao patted Professor Wangs shoulder familiarly.

"Knowing that I dont like drinking, you still say so, no sincerity." Professor Wang shook his head and looked at Qin Sheng beside him, saying: "Could it be that you are also here to assist in the appraisal of cultural relics?"

  Mr. Qiao nodded: "Yes."

"Are Mr. Qiao and Professor Wang close?" Gu Ming looked at the scene in front of her, realizing she wasnt seeing things, and gently nudged Gan Tong beside her.

"Dont you know?" Guan Tong looked at Gu Mei in surprise, saying in a low voice: "Mr. Qiao is a good friend of Professor Wangs, Ive seen Mr. Qiao several times in Professor Wangs office. Have you forgotten that theres a photo of the two of them on Professor Wangs desk?"

  Together?

As soon as Ting mentioned it, Gu Mei finally remembered why she felt familiar when she saw Mr. Qiao earlier - she had also seen the photo on Professor Wangs desk, but at that time she hadnt thought of it.

At the same time that Gu Mian was shocked to see Mr. Qiao and Qin Sheng appear before her eyes, Qin Sheng also saw Gu Mian in the first moment, and his surprise in his heart was no less than Gu Mians.

"Come, come, let me introduce you. Fu Wen and Guan Tong, youve met before. This is also one of my students, Gu Mei, whos still a junior." Professor Wang, excited as he was, didnt forget about Gu Mei and warmly introduced her to Mr. Qiao and Qin Sheng.

Mr. Qiao nodded to Gu Mian, warmly shook hands with him, and didnt mention their previous encounter in front of everyone. Qin Sheng was surprised but his face showed no surprise, just as naturally as Mr. Qiao, he shook hands with Gu Mian.

Gu Meng let out a sigh of relief, never expecting to run into Mr. Qiao and Qin Sheng again in such a situation. Fortunately, neither of them were talkative people, or else they would have had to explain things to Professor Wang.

Taking advantage of the gap between Professor Wang and Mr. Qiaos conversation, Gu Mei quietly sized up Qin Sheng, whom she hadnt seen since selling the porcelain pillow.

Qin Sheng seems to like shirts quite a bit. Although he didnt wear a plaid shirt today, he wore a more formal striped shirt instead. The streamlined design of the shirt perfectly showcased his figure, exuding an inexplicable masculine charm thats different from the style he had in our previous encounters, making one cant help but take another look.

It turns out that she and Qin Sheng are quite fated, and today is already the third time theyve coincidentally met. Her impression of this generous man who spent two million to buy her ceramic pillow is still pretty good.

Before long, a young officer named Yu Xiao, who seemed to be in charge here, came over and politely invited Professor Wang and his party into a conference room for the first meeting. People like Gu Mian were not allowed to enter, and were led by a small soldier to a rest room to take a short break.

Qin Sheng did not follow Mr. Qiao into the conference room, but instead came to the rest room with Gu Xiang and others, and happened to sit in the seat next to Gu Xiang.

  *Gulp*...

Once she relaxed her mind, Gu Mians stomach, which had been hungry all night, cried out uncontrollably. Fortunately, the people in the rest room were chatting in twos and threes, and even Guan Tong, who had been with her all along, ran to Fu Wens side at this moment, seemingly exchanging something, and no one noticed anything unusual on her side.

The sound coming from Gu Mians belly was not loud, but it wasnt small either. Qin Sheng, who was sitting next to him, naturally heard it, but he fully demonstrated his demeanor and pretended that he hadnt heard anything.

Gu Meis body stiffened slightly, trying to pretend that nothing had happened, and she glanced sideways at Qin Sheng with an expressionless face.

Unfortunately, some things cant be made non-existent just by pretending they didnt happen. Theres still an inevitable awkwardness lingering between the two of them.

"I didnt expect to meet Miss Gu here, what a coincidence. I havent had the chance to thank you for last times matter." Qin Sheng took the initiative to break the awkward atmosphere by opening up the conversation.

Gu Mei was taken aback, and immediately understood that Qin Sheng was referring to the note she had slipped him. Upon hearing Qin Shengs words, she knew that he hadnt foolishly accepted Old Lis porcelain pillow.

"I didnt say anything, Mr. Qin doesnt need to be so polite." Gu Mian didnt dare to take the credit for herself.

She could see that Mr. Qiao was also a man of real ability, and even without her note, Qin Sheng would not have accepted Old Lis porcelain pillow.

She would do that, just because Qin Sheng agreed to her price so readily, and it was all just to make herself feel a little better. If not, she wouldnt have made such a move easily, after all, that move was indeed somewhat improper.
