Chapter 403

At around nine in the morning, Andrea was getting antsy.

“Come on, guys! We should go now. The cinema is about to open and I don’t want to be late,” Andrea urged her brother and her friends.

Anton noticed that most people were leaving the deck. Like Torun and the others, they were probably going to the cinema to watch the new movie. He told Torun and the gang to just go ahead and leave him since he had already seen the film.

He was glad for his friends that his father and Nemina decided to price the tickets very low so that all passengers could watch the films.

Soon, he was mostly alone at the deck, and it was quiet. To be honest, he was thankful that the journey so far had been relatively peaceful. Anton remembered that he thought he would be in a battle every week because he was warned by Harun that almost every week, there would be an event like a storm or an attack from sea monsters, but aside from gruesome attack from the ghost ships that came from the Undead Coalition and the Assassins that also came from the Coalition, he remembered that there was only a single attack from sea monsters so far.

Given that it had only been a couple of months, Anton knew that he should not jinx it. Philip once said that the possible reason why there were very few sea monster attacks was because even the monsters were lying low, awaiting what would happen while the Undead was attacking everyone, even the islands in the oceans.

After one hour contemplating his life while looking at the sea, Anton got bored and returned to the suite to start hunting for gears for his Assassin before he started leveling up a Barbarian character. He wanted to have his Assassin have the best gear possible before moving on, just like his other characters. He was just glad that the item slots for his real-life self were different from his characters since it would be a little tedious to switch items whenever he exited his Diablo II system.

While walking to his rooms, Anton decided to have an early lunch. He went to one of the restaurants on the ship and ate there, and then once he was done, he headed directly home. Once he arrived there, he saw that the others were already waiting for him, and when he entered the rooms, the mages began their magic practice without further ado.

He went inside his room and entered his Diablo II system. The first thing that he did was to create around three enchanted items. His collection of enchanted items was growing but he would not stop, not until all the items that he purchased from Norbuna were all enchanted, and there were a considerable number of them.

After that, he started hunting for items. Even though Anton doubted it, he hoped that he would be done hunting gears that day but normally, it took him a couple of days, sometimes more, to complete hunting gears for a character and would have taken a lot more time if he wanted the gears with the best option possible but he was not that obsessive. Once he reached the maximum level for all of his Diablo II characters and selected the best items that his real-life self would wear that would make him truly powerful, then he would behave obsessively and hunt for the version of those items that would provide the best options so he could reach the maximum power that his Diablo II system could provide.

If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

At around five in the afternoon, he stopped hunting for gears to practice his music. As part of his practice, he wanted to create a cover album that would contain some of the songs that he liked to sing. He would still upload the songs that he covered one by one, but once he collected plenty of songs, he would compile them so it would look like an album. He laughed at himself for his silliness, but no one could stop him anyway.

During dinner, Philip said something important to the family.

“In three days, we will reach the Strait of Nehomonde. It’s a passage that connects two oceans, but there were several uninhabited islands there that were home to very fierce monsters. Those islands did not contain any resources useful to man, so they were left alone, and because of that, sea monsters used those islands as a gathering point. That meant that we would now enter one of the most dangerous places in the ocean, so prepare yourselves. It’s a given that we will be attacked, so all the mages on the ship would be ready. There’s also a chance that the Invincible would move since there are truly powerful monsters there.”

Everyone knew about the Strait of Nehomonde since they were informed about that at the start of the journey, but it was unexpected that they would arrive at that place soon. That also meant that the classes for that week might be suspended, but he would have to ask Frederick to find out. He didn’t want to miss any of the classes since they were truly informative.

To be honest, Anton wasn’t really worried since he did know enough to be worried. He did not know what to expect, and there was nothing he could do to prepare since everything that they might need to escape if worst came to worst was already prepared by him. Mostly, they were the enchanted floating boards that they could ride on.

Anton was praying that there would not be any need for them to use those boards since he didn’t want to survive on top of the ocean with just those items. It would be extremely difficult, and even if they found an island where they could stay to await rescue, he did not want to live like some sort of Robinson Crusoe family.

For a while, Anton imagined himself and his family and friends stranded on an island. He thought of what he would do first. First, they would need to create a comfortable home, and they could use the resources of the islands to create those. It would probably be a little easier since they could build their homes using his Telekinesis spell. Then they would need to secure their food and water source, and he remembered that when he manipulated his Blizzard spell to turn into rain, the mana in the water helped with the growth of the plants. So fruits and veggies would be secured. Then they would hunt the animals in the islands but would not kill them. Instead, take care of them so they could have a supply of meat and dairy.

Then, Anton would focus on creating enchanted items that would make their lives easier. It was a nice thought, but he knew that if there was no Undead Coalition, that kind of life might be feasible. But because the coalition was attacking everyone, there would come a time when they would attack that island, and that would only result in their deaths.

It was fun to play a survival, kingdom-building game, but not in real life. Not when monsters were coming. Anton would prefer to face that enemy together with the humans while he and his family stayed in a comfortable city.

“Should I prepare more wands?” Anton asked his father and Lucas, and both men nodded, so after dinner, that was what Anton did.
