Chapter 28: Chang’an Four Star

"Zhao Xiyue! Time to get up!"

"Meow, brother, let me sleep a little longer…"

"No sleeping in! Today is your first day of school. Did you forget what I told you?"

  "Okay, I’m getting up now."

In the early morning, as the first rays of sunlight illuminated the city, Yun Yi had already prepared breakfast for Zhao Xiyue in their apartment located in the midsection of a towering skyscraper hundreds of stories high. They were ready to head to school.

To avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, Yun Yi had Xiyue revert to her real name and corrected how she addressed him. To quickly integrate into society, they both needed to attend school, learn new knowledge, and make new friends.

Three days ago, both Yun Yi and Zhao Xiyue had passed the school’s entrance exams and were approved for enrollment. One was about to graduate from high school, while the other was entering the fifth grade of elementary school.

Zhao Xiyue had already self-studied through elementary school and even a significant portion of middle school. Yun Yi instructed her to focus on learning things she was interested in at school and to make as many friends as possible.

As for Yun Yi, he had much more on his plate. In addition to practicing the "Hao Qi Zheng Tian Jue," he needed to study diligently to quickly fill the gaps in his knowledge to match his classmates and perform well in the upcoming college entrance exams.

Only then could he get into a prestigious university. While learning was important, his main goal was to find people who could help him, preferably those he could firmly tie to his cause of restoring his nation. Though it sounded challenging, Yun Yi was determined to put in the same effort he had during his rigorous training days.

"Thank you so much. Xiyue is a very obedient child. I’ll leave her in your care… Xiyue, listen to your teacher and don’t be mischievous. After school, don’t wander off. Wait for me to pick you up."

Waving his hand, Yun Yi watched as Zhao Xiyue, led by her teacher, entered the school. He then headed to the high school less than a kilometer away.

The enrollment process went smoothly, and it didn’t take long for Yun Yi to become a student at the school.

When the teacher led him into the classroom, it was eerily quiet. With the college entrance exams just a few months away, the students were all deeply engrossed in their studies.

After a brief self-introduction, Yun Yi found a seat towards the back. Though he appeared unremarkable, his handsome face and demeanor had already caught the attention of many curious classmates.

"Hey, he seems pretty good. Are you interested?"

"Yeah, he looks like he’s from some aristocratic family. So handsome."

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

"Wow, he’s exactly my type. Don’t you dare try to steal him!"

  …

Though not far away, Yun Yi, who had switched to practicing the "Hao Qi Zheng Tian Jue," could only vaguely hear the whispers but couldn’t make out what was being said.

But that was fine. At least he could focus on his studies.

After class, Yun Yi’s desk was immediately surrounded by a group of girls. In this highly advanced technological age, harmful genes had long been eliminated, and everyone practiced martial arts, making them physically fit. Especially on Chang’an Four Star, where elites and nobles gathered, seeing an unattractive girl was as rare as finding money on the street…

Having never experienced such attention, Yun Yi blushed. Faced with the girls’ questions, he didn’t know how to respond.

"Hey, new guy. What does your family do?"

A boy, clearly displeased, slapped Yun Yi’s desk and demanded.

Family? It had long been destroyed in the war.

Yun Yi glanced at the boy but didn’t respond. Instead, he addressed the group, "Sorry, but the exams are just a few months away. Let’s all focus on our studies."

On Chang’an Four Star, where aristocratic families were everywhere, if your grades weren’t good, unless you came from a family with high-ranking officials or significant titles, getting into a top university was nearly impossible. Hearing Yun Yi’s words, most of the students dispersed, leaving only a few girls who were still curious but didn’t want to disturb him further.

The boy who had confronted him also didn’t say anything more. On this planet, anyone you bumped into could be a member of a powerful family. Offending someone you didn’t know and bringing trouble to your family wasn’t worth it.

After school, a few bold girls handed him pink envelopes before running off.

"Is this what they call love letters?"

In a secluded spot, Yun Yi opened one of the letters and couldn’t help but chuckle. As a seventeen-year-old, he had once fantasized about meeting a girl he liked. But these letters, written by people he barely knew and with no sense of love at first sight, naturally struck him as amusing. Still, as a memento of his first love letters, Yun Yi carefully stored the envelopes in his backpack.

After picking up Zhao Xiyue, they walked home, chatting about their respective school experiences.

Contrary to Yun Yi’s expectations, he had thought Zhao Xiyue would be an introverted child who wouldn’t make friends quickly at school. But he had underestimated her charm. Her cute and sweet appearance, innocent expressions, and elegant demeanor made her the most popular kid in her class. After all, she was a real princess.

Without Yun Yi by her side, Zhao Xiyue didn’t falter under the attention of her classmates. After the initial unfamiliarity, she quickly bonded with the girls in her class.

Hearing this from the teacher, Yun Yi looked at Zhao Xiyue suspiciously. Had she just been putting on an act in front of him?

But this was good. At least Zhao Xiyue could quickly become independent and take care of herself.

Three months of intense studying and training had taken their toll on Yun Yi. He had to keep up with the classroom material, bridge the gap with his classmates, and continue practicing the "Hao Qi Zheng Tian Jue." Every day, Yun Yi stayed up late into the night and had to get up early to prepare breakfast for Zhao Xiyue.

Finally, thanks to the mysterious necklace, Yun Yi achieved excellent results in the exams three months later, ensuring his efforts weren’t in vain and securing a place in a top-tier university.

The hot summer vacation arrived as scheduled. Looking at his dwindling savings, Yun Yi thought about it and decided there wasn’t anything particularly important to do during the break. He resolved to find a part-time job to earn some extra money.

Yun Yi prided himself on three skills: martial arts, mech piloting, and mech repair. On this peaceful planet, the first two were of little use. But on this bustling planet, there were countless mech enthusiasts who could afford mechs, and naturally, there were plenty of companies selling and repairing them. Yun Yi knew of a relatively small mech sales and repair company not far from his apartment.

On the first day of the vacation, Yun Yi headed to the company named "Swift Mechanics."
