Ch-31, The Journey Of Too Many Km

“I will try talking to him a bit more, but don’t expect me to become good friends with him immediately, I hardly stay with him after all”

“Oh you will be staying with him for quite a while from now on”

  “Why?”

“Look at this first” He brought out a table and a roll of paper, he opened it and the map of Prithyu became visible.

There were 3 huge landmasses with absolutely huge oceans in between, the world’s surface was over 90 percent water after all.

Still the size of the 3 continents were absolutely enormous.

Our continent was on the upper east side, called Galdoria.

On the central northern portion of the map was Tundrath, and to the west was Nythara.

In Galdoria we lived in the heart of the continent, In the kingdom of Eldoria, ruled by the church. Though there was a royal family.

He pointed to the north of Eldoria, To the place called Frosthaven.

“The border to Frosthaven is about 300km from here” Saying this he pointed even further north, where the boundary of Frosthaven was.

“If you head north for another 2000 km the kingdom of Frost haven would technically end, and the frozen wasteland would begin.”

He once again lifted his finger and placed it even further north, near the northern end of Galdoria.

“Deep in the northern wasteland, 3082km after the end of frost haven, there is the domain of the warriors, the ones who follow the path of body strengthening.

Now that you and Theo are Quasi-mages, and Eleven would have powers equal to a Quasi-mage in a day or 2 due to your advancement, I will be assigning you your first mission, Your goal is reach that place and ask for reinforcements in the name of The demigod of water and life, Edward.

And after that you are supposed to come here”

Saying this he pointed at the top of the map, to the East of Tundrath, the continent also called the land of the damned, due to that continent being the sole place where the gods didn’t open up their churches.

The demon kingdom was also there.

“Wha- how? I mean i should be able to handle going to the frozen wasteland but how am I supposed to cross the ocean in between? Its not as if any ships sail from here to that place. And why do you need me to go there anyways?”

“Laven will tell you how you will be going there when the time comes, it should be a nice surprise. As for why? That’s because that’s where the war will be happening. Everyone will be going there in a few months, you are just going to reach their faster.”

I nodded, I had already received the prize, and one thing about dealing with powerful men is that refusing them is a bad idea, much less when the payment has been done in advance.

  “When are we leaving?”

“Tomorrow, For the 5300km you will be travelling through snow and monster infested lands it should take about a month and a half with a few spells”

  “Anything I should prepare?”

“Nothing, just sleep nicely before leaving tomorrow. Also remember to eat something you like at the cafeteria as breakfast, you are not going to eat anything other then mountain berries for a long while now.” With words that almost felt like a threat he slowly walked back into his office, I checked with my perception and Theo was standing up.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Congrats kiddo, you are now a quasi-mage too.

“I almost forgot!” His voice came from inside the office.

“Inform Adiel and Delsa as well, They will be going with you!”

Shaking my head I walked towards the dorms.

Explaining this is going to be interesting. Though I feel that I was forgetting about something.

  …

I entered the house, and was greeted with the sight of Delsa and Adiel sitting on the sofa while reading a book.

Though they were sitting a little too close, almost as if..

“You 2 decided to propose or what?”

Adiel suddenly turned to look at me while Delsa immediately widened the distance between herself and Adiel as if nothing had happened.

“What are you talking about Eric, did you finally lose your mind from the Mana shackles?”

Speaking of the mana shackles, I knew I had forgotten som-

“So did you tie the knot or not” Eleven’s voice came from the window, I looked and he was sitting in the open window.

His feathers seemed a little more greenish today, and one feather that stuck out a little from his forehead turned red on the very tip.

Oh, I had forgotten about him.

Delsa was about to say something, and sensing that the conversation would continue to spiral downwards if I didn’t say anything I intervened.

“Eleven, I have good news. And you 2, I have bad news”

  “What” Eleven spoke first.

“Farion has given us a mission, and we will be leaving the academy premises for atleast half an year”

Although he was an owl I felt like his eyes widened.

“We are not just going to be roaming around the place right?”

“No, we are going quite far, over 5 thousand km away.”

“But how and why? Weren’t only quasi-mages required to do missions?”

  Adiel suddenly asked.

I explained to the both of them that there is gong to be a war, and that all students will be participating like some sort of activity.

The more I talked the more both the expression of their faces changed, specially when I reached the part about me becoming a quasi-mage.

“What sort of person says that you are going to have to fight in a war is just a bad news?!” Adiel asked in frustration.

“That is not the bad news”

“Then what is?” Delsa asked, just as frustrated as Adiel.

“I mentioned that I am going to have to go to the frozen wasteland before going to Tundrath right?”

  “Yeah?”

“You both are coming with me”

  Their expressions froze.

“So you are telling me that we have to go 5 thousand km in monster infested lands covered with frozen lakes and snow with enough cold to freeze any person over in a few minutes?” Delsa asked with a calmness that felt unreal.

  “Yeah?”

“And there is not any way for us to refuse?”

“I mean yes if you die you don’t have to come but I don’t think you want to not be alive.”

Delsa sighed and rubbed her head with her fingers.

“Why are we going to the desolate place anyways?”

“You know about the warrior faction right? They apparently have a academy there, and our mission is to go and ask them to support us in the war.

“Can’t they just ask someone who knows the teleportation spell to deliver a letter or something? Why make a quasi-mage and 2 mage apprentices go there?”

“Theo will also be going too, and Laven will be there as well, so a tier-1 mage, 2 Quasi-mages and 2 mage apprentices will be going” Eleven chimed in from the side.

  “But still…”

“Wait a second” Delsa suddenly exclaimed.

“We will be going through rough terrain with monsters in it”

“So?” Adiel said, confused about where the conversation was going.

“So isn’t the real motto of the mission to make us familiar with fighting and appropriate spell usage”

  “Exactly!” I said.

“Now it makes a lot of sense” Adiel said while scratching his head.

“Seeing as we will be fighting in a war isn’t this sort of good?”

“It sure is” Eleven said while his tail feather rose by a few centimeters.

I am not sure if he knew this but whenever he was really happy his tail feathers rose like a dog’s tail.

“Are you thinking something bad about me?” He suddenly turned his neck 180 degrees towards me.

I calmly shook my head, this owl is sharp though.

  “What should we pack”

Thank you Adiel, for changing the topic.

  *Knock* *knock*

  I knocked on Farion’s door.

Theo was standing besides me while Adiel and Delsa stood behind. Eleven was currently sleeping on the tree in my soul space.

“Enter” Farion’s voice came and the door opened.

I stepped inside, followed by the other 3.

Farion was doing the Edward stuff, sitting and sipping on tea, while Laven was standing behind him like a butler.

“I hope that all of you are ready, Because you aren’t getting any more time to do so” Saying this he lightly tapped his staff on the ground.

And the next moment we were standing on a snow filled mountain.
