When I opened my eyes the next morning, Luci was nowhere to be found. After getting dressed, I left the room to look for her, only to bump into her as I walked out the door.
“Ah, Mira. Sleep well?”
“Mhm. What time is it?”
“Well…” she grimaced. “It's just after lunch. I came to see if I could manage to wake you up to get ready.”
“Oh. I can't be that hard to wake up, can I?”
“If it weren't for that peaceful look on your face and the fact that you were still breathing, I would've thought you were dead. Now, we need to get ready. It'll start in about an hour.”
I turned around, and the two of us went back into the room.
“Mother figured you'd be coming back here with me, so she had a dress prepared in your size as soon as she knew about the wedding. It's over there,” Luci said, pointing at the foot of the bed. “Go ahead and put it on, I'll get dressed too.”
She walked into her closet and shut the door behind her to change, so I started getting undressed.
I took the dress that I somehow missed before and put it on, finding that it fit me perfectly. It was green to match my hair and eyes, and had a gold trim around the edges. It was shoulder-less, but it still had sleeves, which was a little confusing at first when I was putting it on. Finally, it stopped above my knees, with only one side of it continuing down to my ankle. It probably took a good few minutes to get it on, but I was satisfied with the result.
Shortly after I was dressed, Luci came back out of the closet wearing a dress that matched mine, only hers had brown instead of green.
“You look beautiful, Luci,” I said, taking her hand.
“I could say the same, Mira. I like the usual look, but I must say, the dress fits you just as well,” she smiled, and we started walking towards the door. “Now all I have left is to get you out of that dress~”
“Luci!” I felt my face heating up when I realized what.
“I'm just kidding, Mira,” she ughed. “I'm not ready for anything like that yet either. Anyway, let's get going. We'll be early, but we could take the time to get you used to greeting nobles or something.”
“A-Alright.”
The ceremony was to be held in the dining hall at the entrance, so that was where we went. Aside from the servants who were setting everything up, the only other people here were the Pleiades, who were standing on either side of the door..
The tables had been rearranged at some point since dinner, as they were pushed together into two rows stretching from either side of the entrance all the way to an altar in the back, which had the symbol of the Goddess- the Mother Tree- carved into it.
We sat at one of the tables closest to the altar and waited. Luckily, I didn't have to greet any nobles like Luci said I would earlier, and soon all the seats were filled. Luci's parents sat across from us with another Elf I hadn't seen before, and Tahli was sitting to the other side of Luci. Setsuna and the other Kitsune were sitting in a different area with the other Beastkin leaders.
Eventually, Wendell stood and walked to the altar with the other Elf, who moved to stand behind it.
“May I have your attention!” he yelled, silencing the entire room. “Ladies and gentlemen! It is with great honor that I invite all of you here today to my kingdom, to attend the marriage of the future King of Elves! May the ceremony begin!”
Once he finished his speech, he came back over and sat down while the other Elf remained behind the altar. After a moment, one of the side doors opened, and Vic walked out of it, wearing an extravagant robe nearly identical to Wendell's. He took his time as he walked to the altar, turning to face the entrance as he arrived.
On cue, Mary entered in a white wedding dress, her arm intertwined with that of a man greatly resembling Lucas. Once they had made it halfway to the altar, her father parted from her, sitting down with the rest of his family.
Once she reached the altar, she grasped Vic's hands and moved to stand beside him, looking into his eyes through her veil.
Finally, the Elf behind the altar began to speak.
“We are gathered here today for a most joyous occasion. On this day, the eleventh of the month of Reapstalk as according to the Fire King Calendar, we bear witness to the matrimony between the crown prince of Pristel, and the first daughter of the Revierre family. If any in the audience believe this wedding should be stopped, speak now.”
After a moment, nobody spoke, so the Elf continued.
“With no objections, it is time to move to the next stage of the ceremony,” as he spoke, the symbol of the Goddess on the altar began glowing with a white light. “Do you, Vicadra Igni Regali-Pristel, swear upon the Goddess’ name to take this woman as your wife, and to treat her with all the respect and care you possibly can?”
“I do,” Vic nodded.
“Next. Do you, Mary Revierre, swear upon the Goddess’ name to take this man as your husband, and to treat him with all the respect and care you possibly can?”
“I-”
She was suddenly cut off, as the sound of an explosion echoed throughout the hall.
