A Suprise, but a Welcome One

It didn't take long to give the others my recap. Immediately after, Luci insisted on taking me back to our room so I could rest. Considering the fact that I had just woken up after sleeping for a while, I was able to fall back asleep surprisingly easily, and I ended up sleeping until the following morning.

The next three days were uneventful. The days were spent mostly in the company of Setsuna and the others while the nights were spent cuddling in with Luci. There weren't even any reports of Shadows appearing, and if it weren't for what the Goddess told me after I saved Setsuna, I'd think they were gone for good.

The fourth day, Luci got up before me and gently shook my shoulder to wake me.

“Breakfast smells about ready. Wanna get dressed and go eat?”

“Mm… Mornin’” I sat up and stretched before getting out of the bed. Once ready we headed off to eat. It was a simple meal of eggs and bacon with toast.

“Sleep well? You're usually up before me.”

Luci, despite usually being silent during a meal, suddenly questioned me.

“Ah, yeah. I guess I was just more tired than usual st night.”

I didn't really know myself what was different, so I just gave the first excuse that came to mind.

  “...Okay then.”

Luci seemed to doubt my answer for a moment, but she just shrugged and went back to eating.

Around the time we finished, Adrian had come in holding a couple of letters I'm his hand. Over the st few days, I've noticed he does a lot more work than he seems to. Usually he's just a gatekeeper, but if someone sends mail to the vilge, he takes it at the gate and delivers it to the recipient. He's also in charge of delivery if there's anything leaving the vilge.

“Mira, Princess. I've got mail for you.”

Unsurprisingly, since we're the only ones here aside from the innkeeper, the mail's for us. More specifically, for Luci, since he hands one of the letters to her and keeps the other one.

“Let's see… It's from His Highness Vicadra Igni Regali-Pristel. In other words, from your brother, Princess. Now, I've gotta go deliver this other one he sent for the Chief.”

He bowed and left, leaving us alone with the letter.

“I wonder what this is about… Why would he send one for Setsuna too?” Luci offhandedly commented as she opened the letter.

“That's from your brother? What's the Igni in his name for? Doesn't that mean fire?”

“Oh. Yeah. He's like me in that he has a second affinity instead of just Nature. His is Fire - hence the name - but his cap is the sixth tier. He's only mastered through the fifth so far though. Now let's see what this is about…”

She spent a minute reading the letter in silence, at one point even widening her eyes in shock at something before continuing with a smile. When she finished, she looked up at me and began expining.

“Okay… so the first part is the usual. He asked how I've been, wrote about some of the things he's done, nothing strange. The rest is though. He says that in his time in one of the human kingdoms, he met a noble woman named Mary Revierre, the only daughter of one of Osakara's Dukes. Apparently they fell in love shortly after meeting, and are making the journey to Pristel where they pn on marrying. He sent this letter the night before they set off, so they should probably be there by now. He also says he wishes for the two of us to return for that, and he has also sent invitations to all of the Dwarven and Beastkin leaders, so that would also expin Setsuna's letter.”

“Huh. I wasn't expecting to head back so soon, but at least it's for a good reason. Also, did he specifically invite both of us, or just you and anyone else you want to bring?”

“Specifically the two of us. I have mentioned you in a few letters to him and my parents, so he probably wants to meet you. Oh! I haven't sent any since we've arrived in this vilge though, so he doesn't know about ‘us’ yet…”

“Well, I guess he'll just have to find out when we get there. I've been wanting to meet him anyway, so this works out. When do you want to leave? Tomorrow?”

She's said before that he's pretty much the only reason she was able to become an adventurer and travel with me, so while this unexpected, I guess it's a really good chance to thank him.

“I don't think we need to leave that soon. If all of the leaders need to be there before the ceremony can happen it'll still be a while. Especially since most of them actually have to manage their territories in the case of the Beastkin, or a country for the Dwarves. We can talk to Setsuna about it ter and see when she's leaving to go there, since she has the Elders to manage while she's gone. Although, I guess it's also true that they manage while she's here too, so she could really just pack up and leave if she really wanted.”

“True. We could give her time to read over her invitation and head over there ter. Should we go back to our room until then?”

  “Sure.”

With that said, we went back to our room talked about her brother for a while before we left to visit with the others.
