Chapter 5: Humans Leave for Now

Harper along with Jo began to pack up their belongings. Harper gazed upon his lunch bag that he had surrendered to Jester. Jester glared at Harper with his frog eyes.

“Aw, he’s so cute,” said Harper.

“Come on, let’s continue to pack,” said Jo.

Jo wanted to waste no time, the longer that they had to stay the more attached Harper would be to Jester. Harper knew this was the end for him staying.

“Well Jester, I hope you live the rest of your life here and be a good banjo frog,” said Harper.

  “Croak” said Jester.

“I would miss you too” said Harper.

Harper and Jo soon packed up their belongings and headed towards the trunk of their cars. As they began to pack, Jester slowly observed them from where he was. The banjo frog could tell the naturalists were still going to watch him but from a distance.

“I have a drone at home that we can use” said Jo, “it’s safer for us that we don’t interfere with the frog’s life too much.”

“I supposed you’re right” sighed Harper in defeat.

Harper soon got into his car and started to drive off. Likewise, Jo did with his car, as the two naturalists headed off, Jester was finally alone. The banjo frog continued to be happy in the shelter that Harper had provided for him. As the day continued onward, a pack of dingos led by Ed the dingo emerged. Ed was quite hungry, and the other dingos noticed the lunch bag left.

  “BARK, BARK!” cried Ed.

The other dingos began to surround Jester, they thought it was simply food left over. Jester knew he had to sprint and get out while he still could. The banjo frog managed to scamper underneath some of the dingos’ legs. The dingos tore through the lunch bag with their teeth thinking there was food left over. Then Ed’s ears perked up as he noticed Jester.

  “BARK, BARK!” ordered Ed.

The dingos soon gave chase to Jester, Jester soon reached another pound filled with more frogs of his kind. The dingos paused unsure which one was Jester. Ed simply gobbled up the nearest frog, he didn’t seem to care since he was hungry anyway. The other dingos did the same and soon left. Jester was now alone in the pound with a set of unfamiliar frogs. The frogs were taken back by the stranger, they lost a few of their own.

“RIBIT!” cried one of the frogs.

Jester said nothing as he began to hop to a safe position in the pound. Meanwhile, for the two human naturalists, Harper and Jo arrived home. They both unloaded their luggage and soon headed inside.

“The drone is in my den,” said Jo.

Jo soon placed his stuff down and soon grabbed the drone.

“It would be ideal we can use this to watch over Jester,” said Jo.

“That sounds like a lovely idea” added Harper.

Harper was shown how to use the remote controls of the drone. Surely enough, Harper was able to fly the drone away from Jo’s house. He had to head a few miles to where Jester was. He noticed the torn-up lunch bag on the drone’s monitor.

  “What’s wrong?” asked Jo.

“It’s Jester, some animals must have torn up his shelter!” cried Harper.

“Well, he couldn’t have gone that far,” said Jo.

Harper began to search the area, he knew Jester wouldn’t be so easily eaten just like that. Evening was approaching and he needed to find Jester fast.
