Within the Most Popular Viewing Room
“So… how long do you think she’s going to spend digging up ice?” Joe asks while tilting his head with a confused and amused look on his face. “Because she found anything after an entire day of digging…”
His sister simply shakes her head without saying a word as the audience laughs.
I hope she finishes soon…
Joe has easily noticed a sharp decline in the number of people in the viewing room. Which means both less fame for him and less rewards from the System.
But he also finds the decline understandable, what with how the majority of the Dimensional Champions have already left the dungeon by now. Leaving just a couple dozen left inside out of the original thousand.
And what’s worse is that one of the top ten on the leaderboards was killed off entirely by the last remaining devourer, with a couple others being killed off permanently by her after that.
But it doesn’t stop there as the fame of the man with the Title Devourer has been rapidly plunging as the viewers watch the devourer species go around easily slaughtering others. Which has further decreased the views. At least for that Champion.
So at this point, the viewers are only here to watch a few people in particular.
The Fallen Archangel and Hound of the Apocalypse, Lucas Nightshade.
The last surviving devourer, Crystal Nightshade.
Their daughter, the Quantum Reaper, Alexia Knight.
And a handful of other top ten combatants, including the Holy One, whose popularity has significantly dropped. So much so that Joe recently heard something about a rebellion occurring in his Block.
But right now all the Quantum Reaper is doing is digging in ice. Meanwhile her mother is catching up with her father after what seems like a while since they last spoke.
None of which is particularly interesting to the viewers.
I know they’re not doing this to entertain us, but I still wish they would…
Joe’s thoughts trail off when Alexia stops moving and narrows her eyes while looking at the ice.
“Did she find something?!” Joe exclaims, hoping to at least use this sudden halt to bring the viewers hopes up even a little. Even if it turns out to be nothing.
To his surprise though, Alexia immediately starts digging again. Except this time she does it in a focused manner heading straight in one particular direction and without bothering with making the area she digs wide.

She just drills a single line through the ice.
Until she finds what she is looking for.
“Is that…” Joe’s sister mutters, only for him to finish, “…a fruit?”
Confused mutterings run through the audience as Joe tries to make heads or tails of the item she just found. Until Alexia identifies the object, making its description appear on the screen for everyone in the audience to see.

Silence immediately fills the audience. But before everyone can finally react to the sight of the groundbreaking consumable, the Quantum Reaper simply shrugs and pops the thing into her mouth and eats it.
Right in front of every last user of the System.
“And here we have it folks!!! The Quantum Reaper’s long dig has finally found gold!” Joe shouts, his voice almost going hoarse from how loudly he’s shouting. Meanwhile the audience finally breaks out into shouts and cheers.
Some of the viewers clearly display anger and jealousy over the Quantum Reaper, who is already the strongest user in the System, getting an item like this. Meanwhile others just show support for their favorite Champion.
But Joe just finds the sight of the Quantum Reaper’s face tightening a little as she mutters something about the fruit being too sweet more interesting than all of the applause and jealous shouts.
Because despite her power, she still looks like a cute young woman. And while he would never say it to her face, the sight of her doing that is adorable to him.
Then the young woman suddenly begins to glow as she spreads her arms out almost like she can’t control herself. Or like she’s being overwhelmed by power.
Joe and the viewers watch her while power flows out of her like a stream in the form of the energy solely unique to quantum beings. The energy that also makes up their life force.
And just as quickly as it had begun, the Quantum Reaper stops glowing and manages to gasp in a breath of air despite Joe knowing she doesn’t need to.
A jump in energy that big must be overwhelming. But she certainly looks happy now.
Joe raises a fist and shouts, “Behold! The strongest user of the System!”
And without hesitation, a loud cheer sweeps through the viewers. With the antagonistic ones staying silent throughout it.
Which Joe finds understandable. After all, they may not like her, but there’s not anything they can really do about it.
She’s in her position due to her power after all.
Power that is becoming absolute.
The only people Joe can see fighting against her at this point are a few of the other top ten on the leaderboards. Or her own mother. Which he can’t see happening in the first place, since she’s her mother.
Joe opens his mouth to continue commentating, only to pause when the screen suddenly changes to show the devourer again. Then he grins and shouts, “And the great devourer, Crystal Nightshade, is going after her next target!!!”
The screen showing Crystal grows larger before everyone in the audience sees her next target.
A man everyone recognizes right away.
“The battle between the Holy One and the last remaining devourer is now upon us!!!” Joe shouts with his excitement clear in his voice. “Let us see who comes out on top during this sure to be action-packed battle!!!”
