In the dark of the night, on the streets of The Atheneum city a man ran aimlessly, screaming on top of his lung.
“AHH GET OUT OF MY HEAD, GET OUT OF MY HEAD…”
He scream out insanely, his eye widen, his pupil shaking uncontrollably, the man bring his hand to hold his head as he ran and ran toward nowhere. He then look at the sky, the above sky fill with nothing but boundless darkness and a single red moon, looking right back at the man.
“No.. you can't, you can’t, stop, stop looking at me…”
The person mumble like a mad man, his steps become unsteady as he walks like one of those drunken people. He soon fall onto the wall nearby, at the entrance of a dark alley, but then he suddenly smile.
“Ha, haha, i won’t…i won’t let you ha..that right…you won’t take me”
The man smashed his head into the wall while smiling.
“Smach, smach, SMACH…”
One hit, two hit, three hit! His head cracked and the sound of his skull breaking can be heard, but he didn’t scream, he didn’t flinch, he just continue on bashing his head onto the wall, his own flesh blood soon pouring down his to his chin then onto his white shirt.
One more, and again! With each smash the wall painted with his blood, but he didn’t stop, not then he was still able to think, the man continued to smash his head against the wall.
Emerging from the depths of the alley, a lone figure steps into the dim light. She wears a long black coat that drapes over her frame, its fabric shifting with every movement. Slung over her left shoulder is what appears to be a gun case, its shape rigid, hinting at the concealed weapon within. Beneath the coat, she sports a fitted black dress shirt and dark jeans that are blinded to her body by a belt, on the belt there is a handgun and a knife being covered by the coat, blending seamlessly into the shadows. Her feet are clad in sturdy athletic work shoes, built for both comfort and agility. A black mask obscures the lower half of her face, leaving only her piercing eyes visible beneath the brim of a sleek black cap. Black gloves cover her hands, completing the ensemble.
While walking, she held her phone up to her ear, speaking with someone.
“Yes, it is done, the transaction is at the usual location correct? Very well”
Her voice was soft, as if she didn't want anyone to hear what she was talking about. “SMASH!” the sound startle. She quickly spoke onto the phone.
“I will call you back later, there’s something i need to check” with that the woman turn off the phone, she walk closer to the source of the sound, her hand move inside her coat pulling out a handgun that she keep on her belt, her eye narrow as she walk out of the ally, ready for whatever it happening.
And then she see the man, on his knee, his hand gripping on the brick wall as he smashes his face into it, red blood pouring down on his face like a river, while the wall seems to cover in that same redness. Despite having seen and done many things, the scene that is happening before her still creeps her out.
“What the?..” she whispered to herself in unbelieve, but as she do the man suddenly stop smashing his head onto the walk and slowly turn back to look at her. His face was bloody, his forehead was smashed, but his eye? They still widen, looking at her as if it wanted to get into her mind.
Taking a look at the man, a feeling of uneasiness run through her body. Every cell of her body told her to run, that this isn’t something she could deal with alone. The woman bring her gun up ready to shoot at whatever it infront of her, rather it a human or not it doesn’t matter, but before she could do that. The man fall unconscious to the ground.
Seeing this, the woman breathed a sigh of relief, but she didn’t let her guard down. She slowly approaching the man's unconscious body to making sure he isn’t a threat. Her hand moving the handgun pointing at the man body, one close enough, she kick his body… No reaction. Finally she allow herself to relax.
“That a strange way to commit suicide, what am i suppose to with him?” she think to herself as she look down at the man lifeless body.
…
The man feel himself flowing in space, his vision blurry as he see the what seem to be a war, he see one thing's body being destroyed, he then see the moon and finally he see himself. A strange voice then speak to him in his head.
“Rise mortal, defy your own death, show me your will”
Suddenly he began to fall and fall, until his vision became dark one more. After sometime he open his eye, he seem to be in some kind of room. The room is bathed in soft, sterile light, the faint hum of medical equipment filling the air. The ceiling is painted in muted whites. The bed beneath him is firm yet oddly comforting, its sheets crisp and neatly tucked.
An IV pole stands sentinel beside him, it's clear tubing snaking down to his arm. The rhythmic beep of a heart monitor punctuates the silence, a steady reminder of life. Nearby, a window lets in a sliver of daylight, its rays casting gentle shadows on the walls. The faint scent of antiseptic lingers, mingling with the distant murmur of voices and footsteps in the hallway. As awareness returns, he glance around, taking in the room's simplicity, a tray table with untouched water, a chair pushed against the wall, and a chart clipped to the foot of the bed. It's a moment of quiet realization, suspended between vulnerability and recovery.
“Where am i?” the man ask in confusion.
At that moment the doctor walk in to check on him, a man in his late 30, he carries himself with a quiet assurance earned through years of experience. His white coat sways slightly with each step, the fabric crisp against the sterile glow of hospital lights. A stethoscope rests around his neck, its tubing draping over his shoulders like a badge of duty walking pass the door, he stop and look at the newly awakened man. The doctor's eyes were full of surprise.
“Mister Lucian, you already awake? Oh praise the goddess” the doctor smile as he get closer to him “that it good new, then we first take you in last night, your condition wasn’t good at all, i thought you wasn’t gonna make it, but here you are, alive and well”
The doctor then pull the chair and sit next to Luican “so how are you feeling detective?”
The man look at the doctor in confusion “w-what? ugh!” As he try to remember what happen, a sharp pain run through his brain making him hold his head.
“Woah easy there detective, you don’t need to push yourself too hard. Here take this, it will help you with the pain.” The doctor said pouring the men a cup of water and some pill.
With shaking hand the man take the pill and drink it down, the medicine soon take effect, helping him calm the pain down somewhat. Finally he ask the doctor.

“Thank you” he said softly, “can…can you tell me where i’m?” the man said looking at the doctor. The doctor raise an eyebrow as he chuckle.
“Mister Lucian, you are in an hospital of course” but his smile soon disappear as soon as he saw the lost in the man eye. The doctor clean his throat.
“Mister Lucian, do you remember who you are?”
The man look at the doctor, he stay silent for a moment before shaking his head.
“No..i don’t”
The doctor sigh, then he thought there couldn’t be anything worse, this happen.
“I understand, it seem that you have amnesia mister Lucian, but you need to listen to what i about to tell you. Your name is Lucian Harris, you have been a detective for 6 years now. You are 25 years old, living in an apartment in district 10 of the Atheneum city.”
The man nod as he ask “how did you know so much about me?”
The doctor chuckle, “Mister Lucian, we have been friend for a long time now, perhaps right now you know nothing of me, but you one you regain your memory you will know” as he said that his phone suddenly ran.
“Oh please excuse me mister Lucian” the doctor said as he stand up and walk outside to pick up his phone, Lucian can’t hear what he was talking about, but the doctor's face looked quite tense, after some time. The doctor soon return with a calm smile.
“Lucian can you walk? It there any discomfort in your body?”
Lucian look a bit confused but he began to nod, “yes i can walk, and no other than the headache i have a moment ago, i feel fine”
The Doctor nod. “Listen carefully mister Lucian, i will write you your apartment location and call you a taxi to bring you home, i need you to leave now.”
“Wait? What are you talking about?” Lucian ask, but the doctor doesn’t answer, he quickly tear a pape from his note book and write out Lucian home address and the phone number of someone “I will tell you later on mister Lucian, now one you home, call this number.” he hand Lucian the piece of paper.
Lucian still confuse of what happening as he just stand they holding the paper.
“W-wait please tell me what is going on, why are you suddenly acting so strangely after that call?”
The doctor then look at Lucian and place both his hand on Lucian shoulder, looking into his eye seriously.
“Please listen to me mister Lucian, i understand you have many questions unanswered, many things that still confuse you. But i need you to keep on living, to keep doing what you do best, being a detective, find clue about your life, Lucian, connect the dot and find the truth. I promise you then you find the truth, everything will make sense ok?”
Lucian look at the way the doctor look at him intensely and nod.
“O-ok..”
The doctor smile “good, now let get you home.” the doctor then pat his shoulder, with that done, he bring Lucian out of the hospital and call a taxi for him, before he go, Lucian look at the doctor one last time.
“Will i ever see you again?” the doctor just smile “of course Mister Lucian, of course, may the goddess bless you Mister Lucian”
With that said and done the taxi drive Lucian toward his home. The world outside the taxi window moves like a silent film, vivid yet distant, familiar yet unrecognizable. Lucian watches as the city unfolds before him, cars sliding past, people weaving between each other,he can see the sun from the far setting down ready for the night, storefronts with signs that seem to whisper meanings he should understand. But nothing clicks. He knows how streets work, how people move, how buildings stand tall against the sky, but why does it all feel like a puzzle missing its edges?
Raindrops, faint and scattered, dot the glass beside him, their trails weaving downward like forgotten thoughts. Neon lights flicker as they pass by red, blue, green, casting fleeting glows over his face. He stares at them, hoping for a memory to claw its way back, hoping for something in the way the city breathes to tell him who he is, where he belongs. But all he finds is absence. The hum of the taxi’s engine rumbles beneath him, steady, grounding. The driver chatters, a voice meant to fill silence, but the words slip past like waves retreating from shore.
Back in the hospital the doctor is sitting in his office, his body tense, his eye looking at the door, as if waiting for something to happen, or rather someone to come. Suddenly the door push open, he it here, a man wearing oriental clothing walk in with his me, they seem to carry some kind of wooden box, that lock up by a special seal talisman, the man look at the doctor with a calm smile.
“Ah Dr.Chen, may you tell me where the person who i’m looking for is? because then i check his room” the man said as he get closer to Dr.Chen, his eye gleaming down on him dangerously. “He was not there, are you going again my order? Dr.chen?”
Dr.chen show no fear, he cross his arm, leaning against the chair.
“Young master, i have cut tie with the your family, there it no reason for me to follow through your order”
The other man remain smiling, but he it clearly annoyed. “Is that so? Even after everything my family does for you? You still have the guts to say such a thing?” he then sigh shaking his head
“very well, you right Dr.Chen perhaps we truly have no reason to order you around Dr.Chen, that it on me, I want to apologize.” hearing this Dr.chen seemed shocked, he didn’t believe the young master of a great Jia family would admit his wrong doing.
the young master then turn and walk toward the wooden box “to show you my sincerity i would like to give you a small present Dr.chen” as he said, the other man put the box to the ground.
Looking at the box Dr.chen finally show some fear, he stand up from his chair “Young master, have you forgotten what district you are in?”
the young master chuckled. “Yes, this district isn’t of the Jia family, but…” he then look at Dr.Chen straight into his eye “do i look like i care?”
with that said and done, the young master unlocked the seal. Before slowly walk out of the room with his man.
“Enjoy your time Dr.Chen” with that said and done he close the door. Panic began to set in Dr.Chen as he try to run and open the door, but it already to late, the door it already lock shut, he shut his eye, he know this day going to come no matter what he do. Running would make the Jia family target those around him. The box began to move and fall over, a large shadow cover his body, with a deep breath Dr.chen slowly turning around.
“AHHHHHH!”
a loud sound can be heard coming from inside Dr.Chen office. The young master standing outside of the room looking at the clock, the hospital staff could only look on, they all look horrified by the sound inside the doctor office. Soon look on to see what happen, other try to ignore it and move on, after all no one in this hospital is strong enough to mess with the Jia family. After 2 minutes pass, the young master open the door. Dr.Chen it nowhere to be see, there is no blood, no sign of violence, nothing, the room look untouched. The box stay at its original position, unmoving. The young master put back the seal on and pick up the box.
“Let go, we have other business to attend”
