Chapter (1): Ugly [Demon King 1]

  ||| Ugly... Disgusting... Gross... Revolting... Trash... Yes, that's me. Or... that's what they call me. My name is Dean Frankfurt, and this is the story of how I met the Demon King, Deus Abrast. |||

  ---

  ? Hyper High School:

Brock: "[Laughs] You look even worse today, pig. [Kicks Dean hard, knocking him to the ground]"

  Dean: "[Groans in pain]"

(Brock, Milan, and Joe): "[Loud laughter]"

Milan: "Dude, stop it, I'm gonna die laughing. [Laughs]"

  |||This is Brock Albert and his twin friends Milan and Joe Riley. As you can see, they bully me because of the way I look. I was born with a disgusting, fat body that reeks like aged, moldy cheese. Honestly, I don't blame them. This is what I look like. I wouldn’t blame you either if you felt disgusted by me. Because... well, because this is me. I don’t blame anyone. I’m disgusting by nature. I know this isn’t right — accepting all of this and not standing up for myself as a human being — but... I just... heh, I just can’t.|||

Brock: "Damn it! I kicked him with my favorite shoes. I guess I’ll have to disinfect them now. [Chuckles]"

Joe: "Nah, you should just burn them to stop any deadly virus from spreading!"

Milan: "[Laughs] Bro, you didn’t have to say it like that in front of him. [Laughs]"

Joe: "Why not? It’s not like he minds, right? [Looks at Dean slyly] Right, pig?"

  Dean: "[Keeps looking down]"

Joe: "I asked you a question, damn pig! Answer me! [Punches Dean]"

  |||Joe kept punching me while I lay on the ground. We were in a secluded part of the school — a spot usually occupied by the worst students. No one stopped him, even though a few students were around. I guess they thought I deserved it or maybe they were just enjoying the show. Honestly, I think I agreed with them. Maybe I even enjoyed it too. Heh... can you believe that crap?|||

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

Joe: "[Stops punching] Holy hell, one of you should’ve stopped me. [Laughs]"

Brock: "Well, that was fun. [Laughs] What do you guys want for dinner?"

Milan: "How about some pork? Dean-style?"

Joe: "Man, you’ll die if you eat that thing. [Laughs]"

  Milan: "[Laughs] Yeah, you're right!"

  Brock: "[Soft chuckle] Let’s go."

  |||They left me there, my face soaked in blood. Honestly, I wished he’d hit me one more time. Maybe then I'd need surgery and get my face changed a bit... oh well, I can't afford surgery anyway, haha|||

  ? Zoe Park:

  |||I sat on one of the park benches. I like it there — no one approaches me or bothers me. The best part is that the benches I sit on are basically mine now. No one else wants to sit there because I sit there. A woman passed by with her daughter.|||

Girl: "[Staring at Dean] Mommy, look at that boy. He’s gross!"

Woman: "Sweetie, it’s not polite to say that out loud. [Looks at Dean] I’m sorry. [Continues walking with her daughter]"

  Dean: "[Sighs] Oh, great."

  ---

  ? Dean’s Home:

  |||This is my house. You might wonder where my family is. Well, they’re not around anymore — not because they’re dead, but because they gave up on me. Yep, they didn’t like how their own flesh and blood turned out to look. I honestly didn’t care. I mean it. There was someone who did take me in, though — my old grandmother. She was the only one who cared. Maybe it was because her sense of smell was weak, or maybe because she truly accepted me. She was cheerful and helped me get a part-time job to ease her financial burden. Well, jobs, to be honest. She had a little money saved up, so I managed to finish middle school. I passed the final exams with flying colors. When I came home to tell her, I was overjoyed. But when I got there, she had died of a heart attack. I was devastated. I fell into a state of confusion and depression, thinking about what would happen to me now. But it turns out she had spent all her money ensuring I could attend a prestigious high school — S.O.K. Academy. I think she even sold her precious treasures to make that happen. She knew she was going to die soon, I think. I’m truly grateful. The house was registered in my name and she left me all her belongings. My family couldn’t do anything about it. But even if I attend a new school... do things really change?|||

  ? Near Warren Lake – 11:54 PM:

  |||I was walking at night after finishing my part-time job as a toilet cleaner at a place called “Chikalapika” — weird name, huh? Luckily, I had no school tomorrow. Strangely, I’d never wondered what it would be like if I were handsome. People in my position usually do. So I asked myself: “Why haven’t I ever wished to be good-looking?” I entered a moment of clarity. I wondered: “Would I be able to accept myself if I were handsome?” Maybe I’d have a charming face, become super popular, and have obsessed fangirls chasing me at school, begging me for a date — just like my older brother Jake. He’s two years older and currently studying for his college entrance exams. He went to the same high school I’ll be attending. Strangely, my siblings never hurt me of their own will. It was our parents who forced them to. That’s why I respect them. And my sister? That’s Tina. She just started her first year in high school. Anyway, being handsome or ugly doesn’t change the fact that you exist in this life. That’s what I used to believe. That’s why I never wished to be good-looking. I mean, what would change? Would I wish upon a shooting star? Or die and reincarnate as a handsome guy in some manga story? Or fake it with makeup? But that would make me ugly on the inside. And I don’t want that. I don’t want to be handsome. I love myself as I am. I don’t want pressure. I don’t want stalkers. Why? Because it’s impossible for me to be handsome.|||

? In Front of Warren Lake – 12:00 AM:

  |||I came close to the lake, and suddenly, someone crawled out of the water — deeply wounded in strange ways. Fear, anxiety, and panic hit me hard. I was just about to run — which would’ve been the first time I ever ran in my life.|||

Injured man: "Wait… don’t go. [He stands shakily, bleeding heavily]"

Dean: "Are you okay?! Do you need help?!"

Injured man: "I need shelter… please, take me somewhere safe…"

Dean: "No, you have to go to a hospital! You’ll die if you stay here!"

Injured man: "No, I’ll die [if] I go to a hospital. Please… help me. [Collapses]"

  Dean [thinking]: "Did... he die?!"

Dean: "What do I do?! Damn it... I guess I have to take him with me."

Injured man: "[Smirks maliciously — a smirk Dean doesn't notice]"
