  -Editor’s Note on the Author-

  [On the God’s-Wife Benedacia XV]

  By

  Cassius Del-Montagne

Benedacia XV rose to power over the Agnyne Faith in the saikatsi following Shalvadore Gerruci’s election by the Assemajiore in the 560th sykal AM That sykal, the karbonari of the Primluxine Combusteum overwhelmingly cast their stones for Benedacia, while only a few supported her challenger, the young Halberdaen Pyrceps, Brother Guglielmo of the Pycepate of the Torch. Orginally born in Agnopoli, he was of the great and zealous House Primonti, before renouncing his titles, and so he gained many supporters from across the Halberd and the Collyen Hills.

In the Karbonaral elektion of the 560th sykal AM, he led the ‘Black faction’ against Benedacia XV. The 'Blacks' called for harsh reprisals against the Zar Igor Thraskovich IX of Polchovk and the Althuuran raiders of the Skolek Isles. They argued for prescriptions to eliminate the last remnants of Sharo Umara’s influence. Benedacia XV’s party; those we now call 'the vvhites', were the faction of peace in the Agnyne Combusteum that sykal [{cy-cull} year], and for peace her office since gained that same reputation. Peace was her goal, and peace was her legacy. She, to this end, forged together the disparate factions heretofore ensconced in 19 saikatsi[years] of Bedlam.

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

Through wit, luck and diplomacy, she would survive each courtroom, prison cell, and interrogation chamber which the Bedlam offered all who lived through it. She emerged from the tumult as a witful and intelligent karbonar, gaining the position from her service under the Mighty Sharo Umara. As a member of the 9 flame-tenders, she quickly led many of the order to her side. Against her was Brother Guglielmo of the Black faction, but the vvhite smoke of the vvhite party was dominant in that new lucal sol. With this she would be given the Luxal tiarra, and take the reigns over the lands of the Agnyne faith.

Before she was blessed, oiled, burned, and crowned the Monad-Chosen and Sanctyne: Alta'lüx Benedacia, fifteenth of her name, guiding light of the Halberdaen, the Collienior, the Lejiyeen, the Swotraen the Skolaen, the Coroaen, and the Nuvipaen. Speaker of the Agnyne and servant of light, she was the Kr?nolojist Sayida Amana Abuhuli. Born to both the blood-mother Eamali Abuhuli, Sayida[Count] of the ancient temple of the sphinx, Qalea Minazdahim, and the Guardian-Sayide of Mara, Zoha Aistirah. Amana was conceived through a noble-blooded surrogatoi's seed who’s name has been lost to time. Amana would only have the known blood of Eamali and the surrugate. The couple, newly wed, planned to give her a name while she was still in Eamali’s womb, correctly guessing their 13th child to be a maiden.

She was named after her late uncle Aman Abuhuli, who had(unbeknownst to the couple) perished under mysterious circumstances while traveling the Road Rodinar. There, His skull was shattered against the rocky cliffs of the Jabaln Mountains, the contemporaneously war-torn region to the west of Ul-Leggiyun: Jabalea. This markeer [border county] was ruled by the ancient and noble House Talnasr, of Akdunmukt. Despite being under Talnasreen protection, at the time of his death he was without his host. Heir to Akdunmukt, he had only lived 34 sykaltsi, and was of sound mind and an easy temper. He boasted the rich Minadyn Stallion, Rihsaw, who he gave to his older sister Eamali upon his death along with their ancestors’ great library. So, How was it that someone so capable could die to such a foolish accident? Some say he was ambushed by Jabaleen barbarians; others argue his death was an accident. So it would be that as Eamali held Amana in her womb, they were to be questioning locals, parsing evidence, and exchanging letters with the lords Talnasr of the mighty mountain qalea of Akdunmukt, the riverside town of Maladalmar, and the valley village of Jabay.

Zoha would eventually hold a trial, and execute the accused perpetrators: 5 clansfolk of Ul Nasr Alhajari, in the Talnasrine holdfast of Akdunmukt, blaming Rem Alhajari, a savage amazon of the mountains, for the murder of their wife's brother. Rem Alhajari argued that their amazons had done nothing, and had no qualms with House Abuhuli. In fact, she argued, that the House Talnasr, which hosted Eamali in their great Qalea[citadel], was responsible. Eamali was a guest at Akdunmukt, of the wooded Jabalaen Mountainsides, and she didn’t want to stir trouble, especially with a House which they had so recently married into. Aman Abuhuli was married to Lerah Talnasr. Lerah, who was now the only living heir of the Talnasreen line, was heir to Akdunmukt. The mighty Qalea would’ve gone to Eamali’s uncle Aman, on account of their patrilineal marriage contract, but due to the patch of poor luck, Akdunmukt would fall through the Abuhuli’s fingers.

Of course, some Kr?nolojoi have argued that Alhajareen claims were righteous, that the Talnasreen did, in fact, kill Aman to keep their claims to their ancestral hold. They argue that Rem was correct in saying that the Jabaleen and the Fijreen have no interest in the Abuhuli, and no qualms with their free travel. Rem acted as accused and Lerah acted as judge, and with the testimony and investigation of Eamali, Rem would be made ash by the Sanktyne flame for her families crimes. Rem, Slaan, Bar, and Fede Alhajari were burned on the peaks of the Jabaln Mountains. Following this justice, the Barbarians of Fijr and Jabalea would pour through the mountain passes, and begin the 4th Jabalaen campaign. Most Kr?nolojoi see this act as an admission of guilt. Eamali and Lerah made a new pact of alliance, and joined in war with the Jabaleen, who, it was concluded, had attempted to break the allies apart with their assasins.

This verdict reached, Eamali began her return to Minazdahim. Half way there, she would finally birth Amana on the roadside, with the help of a local herbalist. In turn, Amana gave the minore the high position of Sayideen Physician. His name was Padul Kohlul, and he would come to be the greatest of allies to Amana.

So it was that when Sayida was born, she was imbued with sanktyne intelligence, an inquisitive way, and the virtue of discerning eyes. Her experience of her mother’s investigations imbued her with this power.

Before her birth in the 567th sykal AM the Late Nuvil Period was coming to a close. War was stirring, old factions broke apart while new ones began forming, and religious schisms rumbled across the P?var's Halberd Peninsula. The Age of Light was waning. When she was born, it would be during the hottest Mudavvtirebeh [festival which ushers in the summer month: Ahridakt, the first Fraktse[month] of Etirtsrem[summer]] in living memory: a climatek event we now refer to as A Cocente [The Scorching] .

Here the Sola's rays caused crops to wither and die in the west, the Fjirek Desert encroached further east than was usual; carving through the forests with wildfires and sandstorms. The Kimene desert of the north also began to march south, taking over the grasslands of Jazir, and the Great Lejyun [massive river] would cease its yearly floods, and dry up in parts of the north. This would be the beginning of the end for the Lejyueen, and the fall of the sturdy house Umara, and the young and industrious house Torruro. Conversely, the Houses Bantien, Althuura and the Nuvil would begin their rise. The Cocente would bring in a great harvest. So while in Herofuerto [Torruran capital] and Legipoli [Umaran Capital] the minoroi starved, ate their horses, dogs, and children, P?var, Roux and Buhrcynn came with great harvests, and celebrated the gifts of Gemel and the Sola[Monad in P?var].

Amid this power shift, and the great Cocenteen famine, Amana would grow up, trained by the Physician and the Court Pyrceps in calculus, geometry, algebra, Kr?nolojie, daemonologie. She learned, from sykal 1-16, how to speak High Saelyn, Lejyuni, Jabalek, and Swotrek. After this she would resolve to learn Vulgar Saelyn. She was famous for consorting with the lowest and most uneducated of minoroi, and later in life she would often say:

“Minore or Majiore, they can all be taught the genius of Agnyn thought. If we were to abandon the low because of their imprudent somniums, assuming foolishness, we would only enshroud them further”

In her early childhood, she would make her home in the library of Minazdahim, an ancient Abuhuleen hold built in the solitsi of the Suuians. Their "Ul Eazim Maktaba Abu Alhawl or "The Great Library of the Sphinx" was one of the greatest in the Lejyuneen Douxate: boasting over 1,500 books, scrolls, and manuscripts. The Library was built next to a great femyr-headed and lion-bodied sphynx. The Maktaba Abu Alhawl tought scholars in Pyrologie, Luxologie, and Kronologie ever since the days of the Shadimek Wars,[Wars of the Daemons] where it was first built by the servoi of, as a statue of the desert-Shadim Dahq

While her 12 older siblings trained for marriage, furusiya-hood, or provincial stewardship, Amana would be left alone, bullied by her siblings for having started the 4th Jabalaen campaign, which would end up to be an enshrouded affair, killing her older brother, Amir [prince] Mahib, and losing an army of 1000 Sanjakeen[banners] in the disastrous battle of the Laseen Pass. Bullied and set aside, youngest, and unloved, Amana sequestered herself to the Eazim, and stuck her nose into the scrolls, tablets, and books of the Great Library. Eventually, she had read them all. Upon reaching her 18th sykal of light, [marriageable age] Her mother Eamali deemed her not comely enough for marriage. Even with her highborn blood, the Abuhuleen had no need of alliances, nor did they lack noble administators and councilors. Being among a famiglino of 13 siblings, twas a small wonder she would be passed over the honor of coupling. So, showing a love of the ancient stories of their Kr?nolojist, 'Old Sh?r' Talat, as a child, and showing no romantic interest in any other children upon her adulthood, she was eventually made to pack her bags for the Torcepolate of Leggipoli. There she was to become learned in the sanktyne arts, perhaps to blaze into a Pyrceps, or at best a Torceps. Amana had a great fight with the Sayyid Eamali However, the Lejyuni Torceps Ab-Qatil saw fit to grant her a higher honor still upon her graduation to mastery. Passing through the gauntlet of the dreaded pyryne-service-exams unscathed, she showed herself to be of a sanktyne, and sücrynly blessed intellect. The torceps would send a letter to Amana's mother Sayida Eamali Abuhuli, asking her leave to send the young Amana off to P?var, to learn the ways of the Nuvil Court of P?vin VIII, 'Smuslata', and go to the Primluxine Combusteum to learn from the master karbonaroi, and work under Beneciato 'The Wise' VI [srv. 497-518 AM] who is the precursor to Beneciato 'Il Idiota' VII, who would play a large part in the plunging of the whole of the P?vari Electorate into Bedlam, which would only relent after 19 saikatsi [540th-559th sykal AM]. In the midst of the fighting, Sharo Umara would install several torceps and pyrcepsm loyal to her Douxate of Ul-Lejiyun. This was to replace those servants of Beneciato VII, which she had recently defeated in the Bedlam(see Virge IV). When she first established the Sanktyne Electorate, among the new karbanari replacements would be the young Amana Abuhuli. Following the end of the Bedlam, and the tempering of the new order. Houses Gerruci, Bantien, Althuraan, and ?nuvil would now dominate the Prigus. While many Lejyuni karbonari around her began to resign, die, or be exiled by the Ekklesium replaced by Sk?n, Nuvileans, and Bantienoir karbonaroi. By the 559th sykal AM, Amana was now one of the eldest karbonari of the council of the sanktyne 9. She held utmost sway among the pyrcepatai [fire temples], suusquaneen {river temples], and shrines of those forgotten gods which the smallfolk still worship. The "khadayeen" [deciever, or backstabber] clans of the Fijr Badlands, Jabaln Mountains to the west and Kimene Desert clans [Gab-Mutana however . After Sharo Umara's death, Amana skillfully mauevered through the Ekklesium, working throught the Douxal daughter of Lucretsia Gerruci: Shota Gerruci.Amana had kept the young Shota as a ward while serving as a karbonaral advisor to the Lady Selvata Egatta. Through Shota's seat in the Azemajiore, and Amana's relationship with her, via her warding of Shota as a child, the karbonar was to survive these post-Bedlam re-organizations. Shoto argued to her brother Shalvadore, the Bourge-Majiore of Nyothr?aspuerto, that the karbonar Amana would back their family, and despite her origins in the south, should not be assassinated or replaced. Not only did Amana have these allies, but also had fierce loyalists among the Houses of Ul-Lejyun. The lesser Markizeen and Sayadeen: Absalom Hadid, Basem Lakeem, Gazala Mhrok, Khalil B?l, Shawka Qatil, Alsuufoun Mlik, Mutawadi Varea, and Harba Alsaheel. Much of Ul-Lejyun's Sayideen [lords] and Pyroliteen [fire temples], would cast their stones for Benedacia, along with their lords. Even the Torcateen [fire bishoprics] of the Lejyeen delta, the desert and the forests of the Lejyun would cast their stones in remembrance for Amana's support in their cause against Beneciato VII 'Il Idiota'.

However, those enemy Sayideen: Damwi Fahdu, Sheer Talat, Nagee Alnurea, Dawa Wafi, Muraqib Talnasr, and Sakhar Mudafie could only watch in horror as an Abuhuli rose to a seat on the council of karbonari, and then set about to pardon the many Agnyne who had laid waste to the Lejyuneen during the Bedlam. With Gerucci's mercantile might and Ekklesekal influence, along with the strong support from the religious administrators at her home, she predicted victory in the luxal election. Though Guglielmo had some support from those outside the pyrcepatai of the Halberd, he would never outmatch the power of forgiveness for those worshippers of Agno who had been led astray. Then, reborn, and donning the luxal helm, she lost the name Amana Abuhuli, and took on the new name, Monad-Chosen and Sanctyne Alta'lüx Benedacia XV, Guide of the Halberdaen, the Collienior, the Lejiyeen, the Swotraen the Skolaen, the Coroaen, and the Nuvipaen. Speaker of the Agnyne and servant of light. In her 20th and final year in the position, in the 583rd sykal AM, she would publish this very book, A Le'storias dil Famiglia Gran dil Miri'. She would die that year, and pass the project off to Master Diego Oros.

Upon finishing his first reading of the text, my master Diego expired, and passed the text onto me to finish. I, Cassius Del-Montagne, trained at the Solarium of Charl I, and learned at the University of Torruro in Herofuerto, then joined this project as a final obligation to my Master, Diego Oros. I received the draft in the 645th sykal AM, on the precipice of my journey to the new world, and brought it with me aboard the Slaver's Sting. After suffering a crash landing near the kroaker holdfast of Glotsam, I began my editing of the text, which luckily survived the seas in my satchel. I have since done my best to remedy the many historical, supernatural, and religious errors which are made by the Alta'lüx Benedacia XVI.

While she is the reigning Luxif, she refuses to give credence to the proud folk of the Bant or their Solaryte faith, neglecting their history, and casting our greatest figures as villains and duplicitous cravens. This is typical of the Halberdyn perspective, but is unsuitable for a text which informs our understanding of the world, light, darkness, and the war waged between them. These are serious matters, and we cannot afford to misinform the world of letters. That being said, for the sake of the sensitivity of the fire worshipers of P?var, and their readership, much of the divine narrative has been left as it was written (regardless of the lies embedded in the narrative about the existence of Frakti, Asteri, and other Celestials which are in-fact devoid of divinity). As a Solaryte it is of course my belief that only the Sola (or Monad-as the Agnyne faithful refer to her-) is divine. Despite the self-evident veracity of the Solaryte claims, these scrolls have been kept in their original Agnyneform, as my late Master Diego Oros would have wanted. That being said, keep in mind that the original sections covering Joan Bantien, Charl I and Charl II, have all been seriously edited for bias. Originally, this text was deeply lacking in rigorous research. If reliant on sources at all, it was reliant on folk tales or the Kr?nolojai of the biased : like the whispers of House Koquais and Fasx-du-lux, known enemies of the bantien. This could be in connection to the Umara-Torruro Bloc[known now as the , The or to her allegiance to the Gerruci-Althuura-Bantien Bloc [known as the purples in recent historiography]

  S?li?n Language Guide-

S?lyn is the main language group spoken in P?var, split into many subdivisions over the centuries of Mir Kr?nolojie. Marked by settlement, cultural diffusion and imperialism.

Most of the languages in this group have major similarities, modeled off of Phoenecian, then Greek, then Latin, then everything in between that and modern Italian. Context and spelling should help guide you through the book. If you're worried about how to pronounce something, don't worry about it! However if you simply must know, here is a resource for linguistic specifics of S?lyn, which I used in my writing. Feel free to reference this if you're confused about words which appear as such. Italics will denote S?lian terms, so that it is clear these terms arent simple English, or creative expressions.

  Disclaimers:

When confused, refer to the footnotes, pronounciation guides, glossary and translations contained in [brackets], as well as context clues when those tools aren’t available. High and Vulgar S?lyn can be difficult to parse even for the most trained of scholars, when in doubt, keep reading. It is my hope that the choices made in translation aid in understanding the ways of the P?vari of the 656th sykal AM.

The Golyat: A region of marshes, rivers, bogs, and wetlands which lies weste of the Douxate of Collyen

The Assemajiore is the highest chanber of council in P?var, until 560 only including nobility and faithful, but after 560 AM, they would begin to introduce mercantoi into the chamber. The Asseminore was yet to be re-established until 630 and Bula’s Rebellion of the tenant farmers forced the government to make consessions.

Prescriptions: List of names, something like bounties, often associated with political purges. Solai [Gold coins] would be given out generously to anyone, even a slave, upon their capture and deliverance of those folk named in the prescription lists to the local Pyrcepate or Holdfast, wherupon the perpetrator would be burned alive in sacrifice to the Celestial they offended, and in punishment for the shadow they sowed.

Road Rodinar: Road to the West, which goes from the great city of Lejipoli to the high forts at Akdunmukt, perched atop the green and dusty Jabaln Teeth. The road then heads down into the Fijyr badlands and up once more to the Pastyri hills, where Miri, red-folk and halfings live under the vvoolydvvarf Kingdom of Pastyr. After passing through the shining-shepherds' lands, the road meanders up the great clifside of the Rodin Plateau, its path narrowing from the width of a mighty river to that of a dribbling stream. Along this path there were great fortifications built by the Taalikiri in the days of their occupation, beside them were twom massive stone statues of dancing Mykopz ( intersex inter-racial mythological warriors of old Rodin: half man, half woman, also half horse, half humyn, half orc) carved from the plateau as you ascended. Every league there was a fort, ready to pour scalding oils or rotten blood upon you. With slits hidden within the statues every 40 hands or so, crossbows and ballistae lined the place. These were no longer in use though, long destroyed by the winds of 12 monetsi. It ran all the way to Kerrodin, and continued that way well into the Tur River and the Talikiir Steppe to its north.

Markizeen: the border (or march) lords of the Lejyun, their title which allows them to pay less tax in exchange for their increased military activity, against the tribes of the Jabaleen badlands and the pre-electoral raids from the Bant and the Swotrek Peninsula.
