Quest Log

  Name: Nathan Daniels

  Quest: Find My Parents

Obligatory Backstory: I just turned eighteen, I go to Walker High, and true to trope, I’m an orphan. I know. You’re either shaking your head or rolling your eyes or, if your dexterity score is high enough, you’re doing both at once. Try it, it’s kind of fun.

But check it out, I’m technically not an orphan. I’m not saying that because Margarette Phillips adopted me when I was fourteen. Despite what the paperwork might say, I’m not her son. No offense, Marge. It’s just that my parents, my actual parents, are still alive.

My half-brother Ryan and I lost our parents fourteen years ago. Now, when other people use the word “lost,” they typically mean that the person or persons in question are dead—bank robbery gone wrong, ill-timed lesson in gravitational physics, too much bungee and not enough bridge clearance, etc. That’s not what I mean. I literally mean that we lost them.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

They hired a babysitter on Friday, March 7th, 2014, so that they could hang out with a friend and play a roleplaying game (probably Dungeons & Dragons.) They never came back. I don’t know when their evening went sideways. I don’t know if they ever reached their friend’s place. All I know is that they never reached home.

  They never reached me.

To make matters worse, my half-brother Ryan ran away from our first foster home when I was five and he was thirteen. He didn’t come back either. Jerk. That’s the last you’ll read about him.

Anyway, this is my Quest Log. I’m starting it now because I’m closer than ever to finding my parents. When I succeed, I’m going to publish the amazing, totally frepic story of how I did it. I’m eighteen now. No one can hold me back.

  I’m going to find them.
