Chapter 5

  Sarah's POV

  2nd of October, Monday

When it was informed in css that we do not have any csses and are instead going to Sasha's funeral, I was ready to go back home with the teacher's permission and almost went. Almost.

Remi: "It is not appropriate to just leave like that."

Sam: "We are all going, so why are you the only one tagging out?"

Lyn: "Come on, we will buy some ice cream after that. My treat."

That is how I ended up attending Sasha's funeral and buying ice cream with my own money. Remi decided to head home right after the funeral, and of course, Sam followed her like a little duckling follows the parent duck.

I did not want to join the funeral and to be seen as Sasha's best friends. I hated her and also hated to be associated with her.

  5th of October

The teachers are announcing the tests from the 10th of October till the 15th of October. Well, I am just gonna bother Remi to tutor me. I gnced at Remi and noticed that she is looking at Sasha's seat. My eyes followed hers, and I saw Sasha in her seat.

Does she intend to cling to us even after she died?

  10th of October

Words really do spread quickly. It was only a moment ago that I was informed about Sasha's death being a murder, not an accident, and now the whole city knows it before the media could cover the event. The police officers that informed me are also the ones handling the case. My thoughts were interrupted by a call from Sam. I picked up the call.

Sam: "Did you hear about Sasha's case?"

  Sarah: "Yes."

  Sam: "We're screwed."

  Sarah: "Why?"

Sam: "We were the ones who called Sasha to the cafe. They suspect that the one who called her there was also her alleged killer. Since we are the ones who called her there, we are the prime suspects in the case."

I never thought of that. We were the ones who called her there, and she was pushed by someone.

Sarah: "You don't think it was one of us, do you?"

Sam: "Me not thinking it was one of us does not change anything. We will have to prove it."

Sarah: "Was there any CCTV near the cafe?"

Sam: "Yes, there was. Quite a lot."

That puts me in a really bad position. I really hope it did not capture any glimpse of me.

Sarah: "Can we just delete the messages?"

Sam: "But the notifications that this message was deleted will show on Sasha's phone."

Sarah: "Can we ask her parents to let us borrow her phone for a while and delete those from her phone?"

Sam: "The phone is already in the police's custody. Second, according to her parents, as they also told the police, we talked a lot online, which we did. It will put us in an awkward situation if we delete the messages."

  Sarah: "We really ARE screwed."

  Sam: "Yes."

  Sarah: "Does Lyn know?"

Sam: "She is not picking up my call. Can you try calling her?"

  Sarah: "Okay, I will."

I hung up. I really wish I was not caught in the CCTV footage, as it is the only thing needed to set the whole case known. Plus, they are gonna witness the bckmail I used to lure Sasha at the cafe and then to wait for her.

  Lyn's POV

  2nd of October

I did not want to remember her after she was gone from my life but since Remi and Sam are going I will go too. We all end up doing the same thing- Remi wants to do something, Sam willingly follows wherever Remi goes. I get bored without them so I also follow them dragging Sarah with even if does not want to.

  3rd of October

I can see that Remi feels a bit distant from us. She is not talking much to us although she never but she popped some occasional roast between our conversation. She also looks kinda pale today.

I see Sam switch his seat to sit beside Remi. A moments ter he dragged her out of the cssroom to where? I tried pressing Sarah for information but she didn't know either.

"A love confession" she says. She has the audacity to say the most unauthentic thing that can spread into rumors and possibly damage some reputation of Remi and Sam, so loud and in front of everyone.

When Sam returned he informed that Remi was lying down in nurse's office.

"Good call on dragging her there because she will never voluntarily"

  "Yeah" Sam replied.

For a moment I ponder over the fact was Remi feeling guilty because Sasha died because of her. Because her idea led her way to the cafe where death also creeped behind her. I felt a hand over my shoulder and for a second I think I saw Sasha sitting beside me but there was no one.

Who touched my shoulders? I questioned them but none had a clue. I soon shrugged it off. I rather suggested to everyone of the idea that Remi might be guilty. Why they asked but I did not want to tell them the truth about the prank being Remi's idea rather than mine. I covered the situation with a lie. However we concluded that Remi is infract stressed about Sasha's death.

  10th of October

Sarah informed me about everything, everything she and Sam talked about. I tried calling Remi supposing she is the only one left that does not know.

  Remi picked up the call.

Lyn: "Remi, we are screwd, very much screwd we will have to do something."

  Remi: "Calm down. What happened?"

Lyn: "The police found out it that Sasha's accident was

Remi: "Sasha was murdered. Her phone is in police's custody. You are worried about the texts right?"

Lyn: "But that makes us the prime suspects."

Remi: "You do not think it was one of us, right?"

  Lyn: "O-of course not."

  Remi: "Then calm dom."

Lyn: "Yeah. By the way Sam told you about Sasha."

  Remi: "No, the police officers."

Lyn: "I am really worried though."

Remi: "Don't be. It was not one of us. Really"

Lyn: "What if they leak our messages? Then our reputation will be ruined."

Remi: "Since we are under eighteen, they will not reveal anything that may damage our reputation."

Remi hung up the the phone. I recalled the photo I took of myself in the supermarket tilting my phone towards the right so that the clock can come in too. I sent that photo to Sasha to assure her that I was in the supermarket near to the cafe. The clock showed 5 minutes to 8. I left the supermarket at 8:24. I didn't notice she that she massaged in the grouped that she have arrived and I left the supermarket to 'meet' her

ter a message pops up in our group chat assuring everyone that it was not one of us that killed Sasha so not to panic. Remi can only pretend to be tough but I know she is trembling too. But she is right was not one of us that killed her. Though if investigation starts then I completely fits the description of alleged killer. The killer who called her at the cafe and waited for her to arrive just to push her and sent her pictures that they were shopping from the supermarket till they arrive at the cafe.

I think just to be safe I should just tell Inspector Danial that Remi told me on call to prank Sasha and take the credits of the prank. If he asks why didn't I tell him earlier i would just respond I didn't want to ruin her reputation by putting her in the spot of an alleged killer though it all must be a coincidence.

  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Behind the scenes of their scary story telling game that took pce on 15th of October.

Remi: "Well since I invited everyone over I will also have to prepare a realistic story. I sit down to come up with a story and suddenly recalled how bad I used to draw in my childhood. It got so bad I stopped doing art at all. My st drawing attempt was try and dry a blonde girl lying on the floor. But after many times erasing and re-drawing, I stopped. I stopped doing art at all.

I finally prepared a story. Why I left doing art? Because I had drawn a blonde girl sleeping in her coffin but after a while when I looked at it again, her eyes were open."

Lyn: "I was at my grandma's house in another city when I saw on the news regarding bck eyed children in my hometown. It was around 3rd year of our middle school.

Nobody will remember I went to my grandma during that time so I suppose I will that event to win the game. There were actually a time when these kids knocked at the doors te at night. Everyone was paranoid of kids. No one will think it is a made up story, right?"

Sarah: "There were a lot of leftover cake that year on my birthday. I did not what to do with it. My phone rung suddenly. I looked over and it was Sam, aka, the victim of the leftover cake pandemic."

Sam: "I was surprised at first, when Remi invited us to py our favorite game. But then came the realization. Back in the days we used to py this game regurly so I had a stock of stories written in my book, realistic ones, some real ones, to tell in the battlefield of storytelling. I do not have any story in my mind at all.

I went in the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea. Mom reading today's newspaper on the table. suddenly she caught my attention by mentioning the news regarding our old house. There was a break in when the new residers of that house wee on a trip. When my mom was done with the paper I took it cut that piece it. This will be a good one with proof."
