Chapter 2

  Sam: "One of us?"

Remi: "Since it was Sunday, none of us seems to have an strong alibi that can prove their innocence."

Sarah: "It may not be one of us four, but it could be someone outside, like, for example, if you were at a friend's house."

  Lyn: "Were you?"

Sarah: "It was just an example."

Lyn: "It was raining anyway, so why would any of us be outside?"

  Sam: "To push Sasha?"

Remi: "Just because it was raining does not mean no one could be outside. The one who allegedly pushed Sasha could have had an umbrel in their possession, but since Sasha did not mention it in her account, it can be assumed that they were wearing a raincoat."

Sam: "What Sasha saw was just a silhouette, so it may have seemed like a hoodie to her. But neither of them was in her account, so is it safe to assume that the pusher was there despite being wet? If it is true, one more thing can be concluded: that the person who pushed her wanted her dead so badly that they couldn't care less about the rain. Also, they may have also pnned this prank just to get her to be in a perfect spot (according to them) to kill her."

Remi: "Sasha could have seen a raincoat or an umbrel, but she did not mention it because it didn't seem worth mentioning to her. Or she couldn't get a clear view of the one behind her as she only saw a silhouette that could belong to any one of us."

Sarah: "About what Sam said, it was Lyn's idea of that prank."

Lyn: "It was Remi who enlightened me with that idea of a prank and told me to message in the group."

Remi: "You should get some help because you are experiencing events that never took pce."

Sam: "Second of all, you are so arrogant that you can never follow a command or do anything that makes you seem like you are following someone's order."

Lyn: "Is that so? We will never get to the truth if everyone just starts to defend a liar."

Sarah: "You see, Lyn, you can't call anyone a liar when every statement of yours is a lie."

Lyn: "Sarah, it's true that I told you on the call that it was my idea, but I lied so that I could cim credit for such a fun idea."

Remi: "I suppose you should have learned something from the story 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf'."

Lyn: "I can't go on with y'all like this. If I was lying, I would never admit my mistakes and shortcomings. True that I am insecure, so I always lie, but this time I am not."

Sarah: "But I tell you Remi was not in the least interested in harassing Sasha. And she was the only thing between us and Sasha that kept us from overdoing it."

Lyn: "It was just some pranks. Don't use words that make me sound like a psychopathic bully."

Sarah: "Pranks to that extent can be considered extreme bullying."

Lyn: "Then why did you all willingly join?"

Remi: "You knew that Sasha's leg was injured by a previous accident that occurred to her st year, and she moved to this city so that it could be treated by an acquainted doctor. Yet knowing this, you made her walk such long distances. Just to make her feel bad about it. These things do make a psychopathic bully."

Lyn: "You can SHUT UP because even though you knew what we were doing, you only watched and ignored. Just because you never participated in our activities doesn't make you better than us. This school has very strict rules against bullying. But have you ever tried talking with the teachers? Nope. So shut up."

Sam: "Remi is feeling really depressed ever since Sasha's death, probably due to guilt. She feels even worse now after all the accusations thrown at her. But despite all that, her poker face will never change."

Lyn: "Looks like I am the only one telling the truth in a room filled with liars."

  Sarah: "Are you?"

Lyn: "Only I do not have to be a liar. We should cross-check every one of us, whether it is Remi or Sam."

Sam: "How should we? We do not have proofs or alibis that can show what we were doing at the time of Sasha's death. We just have verbal statements of where we were, which can easily be made up."

Sarah: "It's almost as if Sasha's death taking pce on a Sunday and at a time of rain was intentional. It was a time everyone would cim to be home, and none can cim their alibis or whatsoever."

Remi: "How about we use the game or, if I correct my wording, the ritual to find out what actually happened."

Sam: "We pyed the game a million times but never witnessed the judgment that the game promises."

Remi: "That is because this time we followed all of the rules. We always happen to neglect one or two rules."

Sam: "In the rules, we just have to sit in circles and tell creepy stuff that you have encountered or things you saw that ter became something creepy to you. Right?"

Remi: "There were more than just that."

Lyn: "So you made pns to come here just to satisfy all the criteria of the game, I see."

  Remi: "What a keen eye."

Sarah: "So what were all the criteria again?"

Sam: "We always become victims of Remi's obsession with horror. I bet she was just experimenting to see if this ritual would come true or not."

Remi: "So this game we always py is not a game but a ritual. But a friendly one, of course."

Sarah: "Friendly? Like hell, a dead person just accused us all of killing them and a random voice just agreed."

Remi: "So the rules of this ritual are:

Rule 1: The room should be lit only with a candle.

Rule 2: The participants of the ritual should sit circling the candle.

Rule 3: The storytelling must be started from the clockwise direction.

Rule 4: The ritual should take pce in a remote area.

Rule 5: If performing the ritual is frequent, then it should be made sure that the same pce is not used more than five times.

The judgment takes pce only when all the criteria are fulfilled. To protect the identity of the reciter of judgment, the candle at that moment gets blown out."

Sarah: "Five times as to the five rules of the game?"

  Remi: "Maybe? I dunno."

Sam: "So I may have an idea on how to cross-check each other."

Lyn: "Can you also enlighten us how?"

Sam: "Can you let me complete? So anyway, we should start by showing each other the messages and call logs to determine a timeline of where they can be. I think we should also check any photos taken because each photo has data stating when it was taken, which will help detail your timeline."

Remi: "So should we start? Right now?"

  Sam: "I am ready."

Sarah: "I can show mine anytime, but promise you will not read the messages, only check the timelines."

Sam: "Not even interested in reading."

  Remi: "Neither am I."

Sarah: "Well, you guys are single, but I am not, and my texts are kinda embarrassing."

Sam: "So let's start with Lyn and Sarah. You guys were talking about the prank. When was it?"

Lyn: "Well, actually before Sarah and I talked about the prank ciming that it was mine, I talked to Remi on the call, where she told me about the prank. Here, I can show you."

Remi: "It could be someone else's number saved as my name in her call history because I never talked to her about it. We gotta check the number as well. I think the call history can be altered as well."

Lyn searches through her phone for a minute and pces the phone on the table for everyone to see. As she cims, at 7 in the evening, she talked to Remi, and at 7:20 she talked to Sarah. At 7:38 she made a group call, but Remi didn't join.

  Remi: "Wait a minute."

Remi's call history of that day was easy to find. She put her phone next to Lyn's phone.

Lyn: "Wait, what?! My call log shows that I called, but your phone doesn't show that you received a call."

Remi: "Yes, Einstein. Now show us the number of that contact."

  Lyn: "Here."

Remi: "Eh! It is my number."

Sarah: "Show us your number now."

Sam: "Oh no, it is not going well for Remi."

Remi passes her phone on the table to show everyone her number.

Sarah: "It IS your number, Remi. It means that you deleted the call history from your phone. It puts you in a very bad position."

Remi: "I didn't know you could delete call history. Can you?"

  Lyn: "The audacity."

Sam: "Show me your phone for a sec, Remi."

Sam continues: "Look, guys, Remi's phone can't delete call history."

Sarah: "Just how old is your phone, Remi? Is that why you didn't know call history can be deleted?"

Remi: "I thought if I can't do it on my phone, it can't happen on any phone."

Lyn: "But this makes the whole case really bizarre. I really talked to Remi. See, in my phone, the call sted for fifteen minutes."

Sam: "Let's excuse this matter for now and focus on creating a timeline of where we could be."

Sarah: "When did Sasha die again?"

Remi: "The post mortem indicated the time of death at 9 P.M. She messaged in the group at 15 minutes to 8. Post mortems does not indicate the actual time but only tells around that time."

Sarah: "We all st talked except Remi at 7:38, and we were all at home. That cafe is twenty minutes from my home, but after the st call, I haven't messaged anyone or called either. See?"

Lyn: "What was Remi doing at that time to not pick up our calls?"

Remi: "I went to shower around that time, and when I came back, I had missed calls from you all."

Lyn: "When exactly did you get into the shower?"

Remi: "I don't remember exactly, but if I had to guess, I would say at 7:20, I suppose."

Lyn: "What were you doing between the time frame 7:38 and 8:20?"

Remi: "Was at home. Can't say anything further."

Lyn: "So anyway, I was at a supermarket at 8:05. I found my selfie, and the clock is just behind me where you can see the time. The image is taken around the same time. I think I was there till 8:40."

  Sam: "Lyn's cleared, I suppose."

Sarah: "Anyone other than her does not seem to be."

Sam: "How about we end today's conference right now, and the next time we meet, we will do the ritual? For that, we will all bring our side of the story to get closer to the truth."

Lyn: "When are we meeting next?"

Sam: "The day after tomorrow, if that is okay with everyone."

Everyone agreed on the date, and the meeting concluded, leaving everyone uneasy as it seemed everyone was determined to hiding something. Everyone had lied about something.
