Chapter 4

Marion woke up the next morning feeling quite refreshed, and after a quick breakfast she put on her equipment, stepped outside and locked the front door. Marion pulled out a map and after a few moments, she decided to head northward towards Alseaton. Plus, there should be a dungeon or something in that general direction, which should give some good loot.

Before Marion could even get more than 15 ft from her front door Braiden stopped her to discuss several things like future upgrades and other various things. One of the things that was brought up was more trade coming through, he suggested heading north as there should be a mining town out that way.

With the conversation out of the way Marion started on her journey with a northly heading. She quickly was deep into the woods, and it was quiet until it was too quiet. Marion could not hear anything, no crickets, no birds, nothing.

She had just crouched to check tracks that hinted at close to three or four wolves had passed through recently when a large obsidian black wolf stepped into her view.

Marion pulls the bow off her shoulders and an arrow out of the quiver with practiced ease and fires off an arrow aiming for the left eye, but the wolf barely moved in time to take the arrow in the shoulder instead.

As soon as the arrow hit, the wolf zeroed in on Marion’s location and charged, but the arrow in its left shoulder gave the wolf a limp.

Marion quickly shot another arrow into the wolf which hit it in the eye, the force pushed the arrow into the brain.

With the threat of possibly more wolves Marion decided to be very quick and take the claws and teeth with no time to properly process the rest of the kill.

Marion noticed the tracks were heading to the North just like her. She decided this would be her first test in this new world. She would hunt down this pack of wolves, which could easily overpower anyone without sufficient stats.

After some careful travel Marion heard a commotion up in a clearing ahead of her. Once she reached the clearings edge, she saw where the other three wolves were… trying to take down an even larger deer.

Looking around she sees the perfect tree that is overlooking the clearing, and it will give her the best view to take them all out.

Marion darts for the tree and immediately climbs to the sweet spot she saw earlier and takes out her bow with an arrow already taught waiting for a clear shot on one of the wolves.

Moments later the deer catches a wolf with its antlers and throws it against a tree, you could hear the shattering of the spine. A second later an arrow sprouts out of the eyeball killing it instantly.

Marion’s next shot hit one of the wolves in the rear haunch shattering the hips. In order to make the deer easier for her to finish off, so she hit the buck in the lungs she must’ve missed the lungs and hit the heart because the deer jolted, which was perfectly timed for the last wolf to take a set of hooves to the face shattering its skull.

“Damn, I really must have the best luck or something” Marion said out loud to nobody. So, without missing a beat she started climbing down the tree to harvest the deer and wolves.
