Chapter 8

That last entry floored Marion. Guess that partially explains how these spiders got so big. I wonder what happened here though. There seemed to be a few more entries in the journal, so Marion decided to read one of the last entries.

  Journal,

I have stumbled onto something huge! There is a spell that allows me to transcend the limits of this mortal flesh! It will give me better control over my army. There have been a couple of inquiries into Amanda’s wellbeing that I can’t have investigated! I might have to take some preventative actions. I only need a week or two to complete the spell and I will be unstoppable!

Marion tried to read the last entry, but it was madness. This Inigo character had fully descended into madness. It seemed unsure if he was able to complete this spell or not, but if he did it didn’t seem like he would be in the mood to talk.

When Marion set the journal back down onto the table, she took a deep breath and sat in the chair without thinking. Marions last thought before she blacked out, was that this chair was very comfortable.

When Marion opened her eyes, she saw a beauty in front of her sitting on a chair made of spider silk.

“Hello dear. You are not Inigo, let me introduce myself. My name is Lillith, and this is my world” Lillith said as she waved her hand.

“My name is Marion. What am I doing here?” Marion questioned her.

“It appears you are in the office of Inigo Mohrhart. I’m not sure how you are able to access this space, since it is tied to Inigo directly. I’m pretty sure he still draws breath; our connection has become twisted and corrupted” Lillith answered Marion.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

Before Marion could respond, Lillith continued to speak “I can see you are fresh to this world, maybe we can help each other. You end the madness of Inigo and in exchange I will give you access to the System”

“What is this System?” Marion asks with a healthy amount of trepidation and caution.

Lillith responds with a casual wave of her hand “It’s complicated, but it will allow you to grow stronger to protect those you care about and create a haven. I’m sure that is important to you, with your background.”

For a split-second Marion’s anger almost got the better of her, but she was able to maintain control. She has been hot-headed most of her life, it got her in trouble more than once in school.

“Look, I can see you have a lot of potential. If you want to, just walk away from this offer and try to get strong without the system that is fine. I won’t push you to do it, but this reward will help you achieve beyond your current dreams.” Lillith adds, with a hint of mischief in her eyes.

After Marion took several deep breaths and a determined look in her eyes she replied “Ok, I will take you up on your offer. This doesn’t mean I work for you though.”

With a laugh that sounded almost heavenly, but with twisted darker undertones “Yes, that is correct. As a show of good faith, I will impart your access right now. It was nice to meet you Marion Blackrose, I am sure we will meet again in the future”

Marion didn’t have time to react to Lillith, knowing her full name before everything went blank.
