Family Issues (1)

  Chapter 15: Family Issues (1)

Morning had come after the bath house night, Shiebe who had just managed to get out of bed looked outside the window of the city. It was a habit that he couldn’t break out of due to the loops. He wanted to know more about it but was never able to contact the woman again after that night.

Shiebe: The power to control time…I’m sure there’s people like that in the council but even stronger. The power scaling in this world sure is crazy.

After gazing out of the window he returned to his desk filled with books varying about the world. The one that was recently opened was a book about all the continents and races in this world.

He learnt about the 6 main continents of the world, Reina, Heida, Titus, Mytus, Runia and Yelonoir. With each of them containing different environments and advancements in technology. The way Shiebe had put it was like this.

The Ruina continent was most famously known for its academy of prodigies where 8 of the council of hope members attended. Henokai Academy. It’s often referred to as the continent of magic.

The Heida continent was most famously known for the Land of Night. A city where joy never ends. Its ruler is a member of the council. The desserts and Landmarks of the city combine both a Greek and Egyptian vibe to it.

The Titus Continent is known for its own going war, The Holy Guild War. The damages from the war had turned it into a dystopian setting. The book did not give a lot of information about what the war was about though.

The Mytus Continent, A city in the air powered by steam engines. It's a steampunk city based on the Victorian era with its citizens described as having the most unique accent from the other continents.

The Reina Contient. It’s the name of both the continent and a city. It keeps a traditional mediaeval style with its accent and building material and styles.

Lastly, The Yelonoir Contient. A frozen oasis home to the never ending winter. A snow that has fallen since the start of time and has no plans on stopping. Tall mountains and cliffs cover the lands. It’s most famous city Godof has a more mediaeval style similar to the Ruina contient

Shiebe: I would like to visit the Mytus continent one day. From how it’s described it seems like it contains technology that even I might be familiar with.

The next section of the book contained information about the different races of the world. In total there were 7 different races, excluding Z-Mon. These were Humans, Orcs, Goblins,Dragonfolk,Beastfolk, Elves and Hybrids. Dragonfolks were the oldest, Then Elves, Humans after that, Goblins, Beastfolk and then Orcs. These were all creatures that Shiebe was familiar with due to his obsession with fantasy novels. However Hybrids were unique. They were a mix of two different races together based on their parents.

He laid back on his chair and took a deep breath.

Shiebe: Sometimes I find it hard to believe that I'm living a life like this. I had accepted my death back then but I’m glad I was able to get a second chance and a new start.

  THUD

He headed towards his door and reached for the knob before hearing a sound from outside his room.

  Shiebe: What The!

Smoke filled the hallways. It seemed to be the result of concrete breaking apart, in other words something crashed through the walls , Shiebe ran towards what he believed to be the source of the smoke.

  Shiebe: —

Shiebe couldn’t believe what he was seeing. There was a hole in the palace which showed the outside view of the city. Behind him was what had crashed through the wall.

  Shiebe:What’s this….Ouch!

It was some sort of red boulder that had crashed through. He reached his hand out for it but a spark was created before he had made direct contact with it.

  THUD

  THUDTHUD

  Shiebe:..The Palace! It's under attack!

After this realisation and hearing the same attacks three times in what seemed to be in the same area in the Palace he quickly ran to the main hall avoiding the pieces of rubble on the ground.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

He decided to head to the main hall as that was the place where Eros was most likely to be at this time of day.

  Shiebe:..Shit!

In front of him stood three boulders varying in the colours Blue, Green and Red and about three times bigger than the one he saw earlier. It was enough to have blocked the entrance to the Main hall.

He didn’t want to risk coming in contact with them as they seemed to be more dangerous than the previous one and could possibly cause more harm.

This led him to do the only thing he could have.

  Shiebe: Here goes nothing.

Leaving a safe amount of distance between the boulders he reached his arms towards it.

  Shiebe: Boom!

  BOOM

More smoke was created as a result of the blast. He covered his eyes to avoid it going into them.

???: Hmph…Seems like someone has gotten through my defence.

The voice of a man much older than Eros was heard from the hall. Shiebe slowly lifted his face from his arms. The smoke had mostly faded out as he made his way to the main hall.

As he got closer a shadowy figure started to form.

???: I presume your Shiebe Zackaria of the Zackaria Family. It seems your power lives up to your family name.

A deep voice that sounded emotionless. Although he didn’t know him, Shiebe could easily tell what kind of man this person was. Rich, Powerful and Strict. An Ideal leader and Noble.

  Shiebe: Who’s there?

  Eros: Shiebe! Get back!

  ZIP

  Shiebe:..argh!

Upon hearing the Shout of Eros a small rock in the shape of a bullet scratched Shiebe’s left cheek leaving an open cut.

???: Father! What are you doing!

  ???: Silence!

  Shiebe:..Z-Zaneff is that you!

With the fog now completely gone the scene that had unfolded before him was clear. The man who seemed to be the father of the elf girl he was holding tightly by the hand stood over the Monarch of Life who laid on the ground with an open wound on his stomach and surrounded by his wives. Bodies of knights laid all over the ground.

If what she had said was true then the man who had praised Shiebe and was the father of Zaneff was none other than Sir Luios De Louch.

Louis De Louch: To think that my daughter was kept in this failure of a kingdom is unbelievable.

The man looked around the main hall, which was now in ruins, and gave a look of disgust.

  Shiebe: What’s going on!

Louis De Louch: I’ve come to take back my daughter from this place. It seems that Eros had gotten injured in my arrival here and for that I apologise but I do wish to spend as least time as possible here so we must get g-

  BOOM

An explosion set off infront of where the man was heading. Louis had turned his head to see the source of this explosion to be Shiebe who was standing to his left.

Shiebe: Sorry, there’s a lot of stuff happening right now and I doubt that you would have listened to my shouts telling you to stop moving so this was the only way I could think of.

It was a genuine apology as he would have preferred not to get physical with others let alone a member of the Council of Hope.

The man who was dragging Zaneff had come to a stop due to the explosion catching him off guard and turned to Shiebe direction.

Eros: L-Louis w-we can talk about this.

Eros, with the support of his wives, Slowly stood up covering his wound with his hand.

Louis De Louch: Their is nothing to talk about. My daughter has been missing from the academy we put her in. I’ve only come to find where she had gone.

Shiebe: Are you going to put her back into that hell hole?

  Zaneff: …!

  Louis De Louch: What..

The sequence of events that had occurred since Shiebe had arrived had greatly pissed off Louis. The praise and respect that he had for Shiebe had turned into spite and annoyance.

Shiebe understood what the man was saying. It was only right that a parent would look for their child and take them back home if they went missing. However, from what Louis was saying he planned on enrolling her back into that academy that she had escaped from which he could not accept.

Shiebe: I’m the one who saved Zaneff when she escaped from the academy. The guys chasing her was all I needed to know that it was one big shitshow. In fact they told me that they would take me in place of her.

Louis De Louch: Is that so? Well then I will have a word with the staff there. Goodbye!

Shiebe: Zaneff doesn’t look too happy to go! She hasn’t spoken once since I've come here. Saying goodbye like this seems a bit unpleasant don’t you think?

  Zaneff:...!What are you doing

Louis De Louch:Teaching your friend here a lesson

He let go off Zaneff’s hand and headed for Shiebe who was behind him.

  Shiebe:..Argh!

Louis De Louch: Listen here child. I think you have forgotten who I am. I am a member of the Council of Hope and a noble. I demand to be treated with respect which you have not been doing.

The man had grabbed Shiebe by the shirt and lifted him up to his face.

  BAM

The sound of a punch had echoed throughout the room. However it wasn’t Shiebe that was getting hit. In fact he found himself back onto the ground as the one who was hit was sent flying into a pillar.

Eros: Don’t touch my students bastard!
