Chapter 7 magic and cost

After he was finally dressed, he checked what was in his bag. As he opened it a small screen appeared 526 gold, 697 copper, 1024 bronze, 678 silver, 6362 platinum, 30 magic slim clothes, 30,000 lb of raw meat, 300 prepared meals, 500 gallons of water, 7 legendary swords, 5 legendary armor, 1 legendary dragon mount (egg form), 5 dragon horns, 15 dragon scales, 6 dragon claws he was surprised that he had so much stuff because he hardly ever looked he would just pick things up a throw it inside satisfied he closed the bag and tied it to his waistband then went back downstairs. This time, he made it down without falling. He grabbed his bicycle lock and key, and was about to head out the door when he remembered what he looked like. He activated his spell and looked in the mirror, but all he saw was his fox head. Looking closer, there was a hazy outline around him. He checked his magic level: 175 MP/recharge 20/hr. He had 8 hours to get used to the human world with his new body, and if he got too low on MP, he would have to find a safe place to turn off the spell to recharge his magic. As he grabbed his smartphone, he tried to use facial recognition to unlock it, but it didn’t work, because he was a blurry in it so cameras are another thing to keep an eye out for. So he had it typed in the password, but his paw pad fingers and claws were having trouble with the smooth glass and touch screen.

After five failed attempts he got it unlocked and he opened the camera to take a selfy but the photo was all blurry as well and the only thing that could be seen was his bright faded blue that glowed with a ghostly light he then tried to record himself but the results were the same as the photo so he closed the phone after fix the touch settings and satisfied the camera wont see what he really looks like he walked outside just as a neighbor passed by and froze as the neighbor called out to him “Good morning Ethan going out for a ride today I see.” He responded by telling him he wasn’t feeling good this morning but was feeling a little better, so he was going out to get some fresh air. As the neighbor moved on, Ethan let out a small exhale and was happy the spell was working. He got on his bike and put his phone in the holder. He plugged some headphones in and went to put them in his ears, but forgot they were on top of his head now, and the cord was in his face. It looks like I’m going to have to buy some earbuds. Talking to himself, he locking his phone in the holder and was about to leave when he realized he had forgotten his wallet and house keys inside.

Walking away from his bike, he went to get the spare key, but it was gone. He went around the house and found his mother’s window open on the second floor. Being glad that she forgot to shut it, the only problem was the screen. In one fluid motion, he ran and jumped, gripping just above the window as his claws dug into the side of the house. He used his other hand to lift the screen, swung in, and landed on his feet, amazed at how he was able to do that. He shut the screen and the window. But once the window was closed, all the different perfumes his mother had in there hit him at once. As his eyes started to tear up, he ran from the room and got to his room. He could breathe easier as he grabbed his wallet and keys, and he made a mental note not to go back in that room.

He got to the top of the stairs he was still thinking about the good and bad smells he had encountered when he found himself at the front door. Turned back to look at the stairs, wondering how he got there, as he headed back to his bike, he checked his MP 165/200, wondering how he lost another 10 MP. He looked through the stats again.

  Name: Ethan

  Level: 1

  Race: Anthropomorphic fox (cursed)

  Class: former hero

Race traits: advanced sense, stealth, armor fur, extreme shape claws, unbreakable teeth, advanced mobility, animal instincts.

  Stats

  ATK:24

  DEF:26

  AGIL:28

  STG:25

  Dex:29

  Magic: 160/200 recharge 20/1hr

Skills: advanced martial arts, perfect body movement, mental focus, instant weapons training, instant small wound healing, lesser injuries recovery, magic mastery.

  Spells: perspective-altering, stats eye

The only spells he had were perspective-altering and stats eye, so he read Perspective-altering again.

*Perspective altering: This spell alters the perspective of anyone who looks at you; it will appear to them as your human self, all the while your real body is covered in an illusion. *Warning, this spell doesn’t work on reflection; anything reflective will see through the spell, even if it is still active. This spell also doesn’t prevent your shadow from looking like an anthropomorphic fox, as well as your animal scent from passing through, and any skills will use another 5 MP to cover skill use.

At the end of the description, any skills will use another 5 MP. He had used three skills: advanced martial arts, perfect body movement, and mental focus to get back into his house but thankfully one didn’t use and magic. But he was a little angry at himself for not remembering the skill cost. He was now going to have to learn how to use his body without using skills. Thinking back, he was getting better with every failure. He was getting better just like the stairs, but with a growl, he knew this was going to be a painful, long learning experience.
