Steve had wondered off as he so often seemed to do. His mind easily distracted though Alex could never quite figure out what it was that distracted him. Either way this was the perfect opportunity for Alex to re-enter the mines and explore for more diamond ore.

  Alex headed down as far as her rails and minecarts went. She passed by all of the more common ores ignoring them for now. She eventually made it to a rge chasm. Alex had been here many times before, she had even died here once or twice.

  From here she could hear the flow of water and could see several va veins. She had setup lights all around the opening that led from the caverns and mines to the chasm. She looked around, listening to all the monsters hiding in the darkness.

  Last time she found some diamond ore it was deep underground and was tucked in behind some other kinds of ore. Meaning Alex could not see the diamond by simply walking around, at least that's how it occurred st time.

  Alex began her descent, creating stairs of stone and cobblestone and adding torches to help her find her way down. She lost track of time as she descended the depths of the cave but she figured it had been a long time since she first arrived.

  Having finally reached the ground she quickly began to make a trail of lights to keep the monsters away. She made her way to where the va was pooling together, there shouldn't be any monsters near the va.

  Alex took a moment to consider where she might begin looking for diamonds. Alex then noticed something peculiar. She walked around the edge of the va pool to find where one of the streams of water nded. The va and water did not touch, and were instead separated by obsidian. Fascinating.

  Alex mined a block of obsidian causing the va and water to crash into each other. The two mixed and instantly became stone. Alex frowned, she was certain it would've made more obsidian. Was she missing something?

  Well either way she had found some obsidian. So she mined another bit but then her pickaxe broke. She only needed one more thing of obsidian but for that she required another diamond pickaxe.

  Alex felt frustrated, getting both closer to the answers and yet feeling still so far from understanding anything. She took off her armor and sat on the edge of the water, taking a moment to think through her options.

  As she did she heard something moving closer. She turned around to see a Slime bouncing towards her. Alex remembered those, the Slimes bounces to move around and when killed the body would split as it became multiple smaller slimes.

  With Alex so close to the va pool she didn't want to risk fighting the slime and accidentally being thrown into the va. She wasn't sure burning alive was a good way to go out. Plus it would make recovering her items significantly more challenging, perhaps even impossible.

  She bit her lips as she thought it over. Perhaps she could calm the Slime in the same way she had done with the Creeper? She had little else to lose so she figured she might as well try.

  She took off her clothes and the Slime stopped bouncing forward as it watched her. Alex sat by the edge of the water, completely naked. She wasn't fond of feeling so vulnerable in an unknown area. She wasn't even entirely certain that the Slime was the only monster here.

  The Slime then quickly rushed over to Alex. She closed her eyes hoping the Slime didn't simply attack her. Luckily the Slime didn't attack her, instead it enveloped her body. Her arms and legs were inside of the Slime, as was her body with only her neck and head poking out.

  Well now this was certainly new.

But the water had spread and across the way it formed some cobblestone.

  Alex smiled as she saw it all happen. So her hunch had been correct, she just needed to understand the right mixing of water and va to get stone, cobblestone, or obsidian. But for now, she turned towards the cobblestone.

  She didn't even bother to get dressed back up. Instead she went to work mining the cobblestone that had formed and finding some diamond ore underneath. Alex became excited and started to mine the diamond only to find more and more. She had stumbled onto a diamond vein under the va!

  Now with this she could finish mining the obsidian and finally uncover the significance behind that ruined structure!
