Chapter 6: The Test Ride

  > "Before you embark on a journey of revenge dig two graves"—Sheikh Nour

The sun cast a golden hue over the war-torn streets of Syria as Gary and I navigated the rubble-strewn alleys. The air was thick with tension, the remnants of conflict evident in every shattered window and bullet-riddled wall.

As we turned a corner, a commotion drew our attention. Five Turkish soldiers were harassing a local family, their small business being ransacked before their eyes.

I placed my left hand on my right shoulder, a smirk playing on my lips. "I guess it's time for a test ride."

  The Battle: Unleashing the Beast

I stepped forward, the soldiers turning to face me, their expressions shifting from surprise to amusement.

"Who are you supposed to be?" one sneered.

Without a word, I lunged forward, my enhanced physique propelling me with blinding speed. The first soldier barely had time to react before my fist connected with his jaw, sending him sprawling.

The others raised their weapons, but I was already in motion. I weaved through their gunfire, each movement precise and calculated. One by one, they fell, their attacks futile against my newfound strength and agility.

A knife grazed my torso, leaving a shallow cut, but the pain only fueled my resolve. Within moments, the battle was over, the soldiers incapacitated.

I removed the shirt from one of the fallen soldiers, replacing my torn garment. The family, grateful for our intervention, invited us to share a meal.

  A Feast of Gratitude

We sat down to a meal of shawarma, the savory aroma filling the air. I couldn't resist, my weakness for food overtaking me.

As we ate, the family shared stories of resilience and hope, their spirits unbroken despite the hardships they faced.

With our hunger sated and our spirits lifted, Gary and I continued our journey, the Turkish border now within reach.
