So, that night just happened, and I've got to say that hitting that old guy in the nuts was the best thing I've done since I got into this world! Who knew you could get better by just hitting people in the jewelry!? In all seriousness, I seem to be some sort of 'prophecized' child or something for the monsters here.
I don't know all the details about it yet, but I suppose I am about to find out since we are at the chief's house first thing in the morning, just a couple of days after the nut kick. Here, I thought that the chief would have a better serving of food, but as Mother said before, even the chief is eating gruel; talk about a downer!
"Kenta, please remember to keep your mouth shut even if the chief sounds a bit insulting, " my father says as he sits next to me at the chief's table. We're still waiting for the guy to show up, as we're just having the company of his wife and her ugly daughter. Oh my gosh, she was ugly!
With acne all over her face accompanied by a weird formation of her teeth and those long ass nails on top of being slightly fat, ugh! Take a bath, people! How hard is it to just go dunk in the water every day!? Oh gosh! "Kenta, did you hear what I said?" My father isn't allowed to finish his sentence as the chief finally arrives very late to the meeting.
"Hey! Sorry for taking so long, I had to re-educate a bad dog who shit on my shoes this morning. Alright, legend time." The chief, who honestly looks just like my dad but with a little more age, introduces himself without much decorum or fancy clothes.
"We didn't wait too long, chief. So tell us, what happens next?" My father interjects the chief in the middle of his presentation, causing a little bit of a bad rub there, but the chief doesn't seem to mind as he responds to my father's question. "Well, what happens next? Uhm, well, we send your son to the academy." The chief says, sparkling joy within me! Yes! Send me to school! Field work is not proper for a lady such as myself!
Yet my father seems to think otherwise, instantly trying to crush that dream away as soon as the chief drops the idea. "That would be impossible; even if the entire tribe agreed to help, we wouldn't raise enough money to pay for his tuition, not at the academy, " my father says in a very concerned tone while the chief just sips from his beer.
"Of course, we all know it will be costly, but he is meant to do that. I have personally allocated 50% of everything I own to support your son already, and I am sure all other families will agree to do the same." Damn, who the fuck am I supposed to be for these guys? I mean, I don't want to complain or anything, but damn, 50% of everything you own for a kid that ain't even yours?
"But who will help me with the fields? I need him to increase my productivity; if he isn't here to help me, we'll starve." My father now tries another line of attack, clearly not wanting me to leave the village at any cost, which I did find a bit unbelievable. I mean, why would he be so defensive about it??

"You do raise a good point, my friend, but you're also forgetting that we don't abandon our people. So long as you are loyal, we will always give you grain to survive through even the harshest winters." The chief responds; all the while, my father tries to hold back tears.
"I don't want to chief. The last one we sent to that academy, the humans, they killed her; how can we be sure they won't kill my son?" Woah, there pops said what!? Wait, wait, this whole school thing doesn't sound so good now that I think about it; I mean, do I really need an education?
"He'll be fine; he's literally a god chosen for it. The gods are with your son, I can tell," The chief keeps on going all while I am still just sitting there, still wondering what the heck I was supposed to be since they made it sound so cool and important, so I go right ahead and just ask.
"So, what exactly am I supposed to be? I know! A legend! But which one?" I ask the chief directly, almost so nonchalantly it catches him off guard. "See what I said? That's the spirit the gods choose; very well, son, haven't your parents told you the story of the blue and the red one?"
Uh? Do they have that same legend around here about the two Oni who differed in their treatment of people? "The one with the Oni who wanted to dwell with the humans?" I fearfully ask the chief, who responds with a clear "What? No, the blue and the red Oni created the 'Nexus Principalis' and the legendary city J'egorali."
Well, I clearly looked like an absolute idiot by assuming that the legends and tales from my world would be the same in this world. I mean, these lands are clearly different, so why would their tales be the same? "No, I haven't heard it yet," I respond to the chief as my father sits quietly now, just listening.
"A long time ago, way before the humans dwelled on the earth, two powerful beings existed in this world. The red Oni, the creator of the sun and the skies, and the blue Oni, the creator of the soil and the life within the world, roamed freely, ruling over the entire land of the early world."
The chief went on, "While the blue Oni enjoyed the life he had created, the red Oni taught that the land they had built needed something to make it worth ruling over, so they began experimenting with different types of life forms over and over, creating what we know as demi-humans, humans, elves, goblins, and yes, they even created others like themselves."
"For thousands of years, all races lived in peace and harmony, all thanks to the wonderful creation of the 'Nexus Principalis!' a magical artifact so strong and so persuasive it blocked everyone's thoughts of war and violence until the celestial invaders came." Woah, now it was getting interesting.
"The celestial invaders challenged the power of the two aged Oni, and to this world's demise, they won. The death of the two creators, Oni, meant the destruction of the 'Nexus Principalis,' leading to a world full of war and chaos under the new rule of the celestial invaders who tribe off the world's suffering to grow in strenght even more. This is where you, the one chosen to host the powerful spirits of both the red and blue Oni within you, join the story."
"You are bound to grow stronger than any mortal and immortal being, a combination of both the powers over creation and life itself and also death and destruction itself! You are the one bound to rebuild the Nexus Principalis and kill the celestial invaders of this world." Woah! Man! Uh! That sounds a little too much like an impossible task. I mean, me!? I am supposed to be all that!?
