Chapter 22 – If it really doesn’t work out, I’ll just marry him

  The night was incredibly quiet.

Gu Qing returned home, turned on the lights, kicked off her high heels, and took off her coat, leaving only a short-sleeved shirt on.

She was exhausted, even though she didn't understand why someone who loved to sleep so much could be tired.

Entering her slightly messy apartment, she plopped down on the sofa, took out her phone, and continued browsing the forum messages she had just closed.

What happened tonight was a wake-up call for her. Although she had helped Yan Feng when he couldn't find a job after graduation, what could she possibly do to keep someone as capable as him?

Gu Qing wasn't short of money; that was a fact. Her family was quite wealthy, and as an only child, her father ran a foreign trade company. Even if she spent her days indulging in luxury, she could squander away a lifetime.

But she didn't want to live like that.

No matter how much money her father had, it was his, not hers.

The reason for this mindset was simple: there are no free lunches in the world. If she chose to be a carefree heiress, she would lose the right to choose her future life and partner.

Gu Qing understood this from a young age.

Her parents would always introduce her to so-called elite young men, each a supposed prodigy, urging her to develop feelings, which led to awkward meetings she didn't want.

So after graduating from university, she decided to venture out on her own, starting a company, hiring staff, and then...

  She lost everything.

However, the Gu family was wealthy, so losing everything was just two months' pocket money for Miss Gu, not worth mentioning.

But after this incident, Gu Qing reflected deeply and borrowed money from a bewildered Father Gu, confidently...

Embarked on the path of finding a powerful ally.

As the saying goes, she might not have a smart brain, a strong physique, or great abilities, but she had money!

All she needed was to find someone with brains, physique, and ability to work and earn money for her.

Thus, Gu Qing, the naive daughter of the Gu family, began her entrepreneurial journey once more.

And then she met her unemployed cssmate Yan Feng and resolutely decided to keep him.

This was, in her opinion, the most correct decision she had ever made in her life.

  But...

She sighed, lying on the sofa, reading the forum chatter, and finally mustered the courage to write a help-seeking post.

"Hello everyone, I'm a CEO of a listed company. I usually like to be a hands-off boss, leaving the work to one of my subordinates, but people keep trying to poach him. What should I do?"

The post quickly garnered responses, making Gu Qing, who was posting for the first time, quite amused.

But upon closer inspection, she defted. Most replies were just for gaining experience points, +3 +3 +3, with nothing serious.

Just as she was about to give up, a conspicuous reply caught her eye.

"What to do? Isn't it simple? Just give him a raise!"

Gu Qing thought it made sense and noted it down, pnning to let Yan Feng take more from the account ter.

The replies kept coming, growing more lively.

"Why would the OP hand over all the work to a subordinate? Aren't you afraid of being backstabbed?"

Gu Qing blinked at this reply and typed:

"No, he's been with me for years, running the company. I'm very confident in him."

But the other party wasn't convinced, continuing to ask, "How is that possible? Aren't you afraid he'll slowly take control and kick you out of the company?"

This was a valid concern, but unfortunately, it was directed at the carefree Gu Qing.

She thought for a moment and replied:

"A little afraid, since he's already kicked me a few times, and my butt still hurts."

The post fell silent, followed by a flurry of various replies.

  "Huh? Huh? Huh?"

  "Wow! The worker has risen!"

  "What a reversal..."

"A subordinate kicking the boss, what a dream."

Seeing these replies, Gu Qing was intrigued and continued typing:

"Yes, he not only kicks me but also scolds me. Like when I bought expensive clothes while out with friends, he scolded me for using the company card recklessly, saying the consequences could be serious."

  The post fell silent again.

Then came another wave of noise.

Countless envious and jealous netizens began expressing their opinions, with some noticing something amiss, asking:

"Did anyone notice the OP is female, and the subordinate is male? Is there a possibility..."

Gu Qing blinked, recalling their good retionship since university, and couldn't help but smile sweetly.

Just then, another reply caught her attention.

"Have you thought about what to do if your subordinate wants to leave even after a raise?"

  The post prompted responses below.

"What to do? Well, nothing! The OP is a hands-off boss with no management experience, relying entirely on that subordinate. If he gets poached, the company might not st long!"

At the mention of dissolution, Gu Qing immediately sat up, staring at her phone screen, typing quickly:

  "What should I do then?"

Fortunately, there were still some reliable netizens who analyzed Gu Qing's situation and suggested:

"OP, have you considered giving that subordinate shares? Offering him some company shares as a bonus could keep him and reward him, killing two birds with one stone!"

Gu Qing's eyes lit up, thinking it was a great idea, but...

"What do you mean by shares?"

Another astonishingly naive question left the forum users speechless for a while.

"I thought the OP was just a hands-off boss, but now I know she's the naive daughter of a wealthy family."

"Seriously, sis, you run a company but don't know what shares are?"

After a crash course from the forum users, Gu Qing finally understood the basics of share dividends.

But when she mentioned her pn to give all the shares to Yan Feng, she faced strong opposition from the forum users.

  Their reasoning was:

"Giving them to a subordinate is a waste and unsafe. Better let me keep them for you."

  "Exactly."

But jokes aside, many kind-hearted forum users began educating Gu Qing on the intricacies of holding shares, such as the transfer process, absolute control, potential issues, etc.

However, Gu Qing found it all too complicated and headache-inducing.

Then she came up with a brilliant idea with her sharp mind:

"No worries, if all else fails, I'll just marry him!"
